A brief history of the threads so far-

A few people were bemused at their friends' strange personality changes when they joined MLMs.
Eyespying told us they were tragicomic, thought stopping cultic racketeers.
We told him to go away, he was clearly obsessed, and can he go to his own serious thread?
We delved a bit deeper into the issues.
Eyes started creeping back. We told him he was too serious.
We became more horrified at the information being turned up and were sharing links.
Eyes told us aboutMerchants of Deception.
Timeless Vie was set up as a parody about MLMs.[[www.facebook.com/timelessvie
Facebook,]] Twitter, blog, Instagram and YouTube were all used.
People started coming forward, telling of their experiences in MLMs.
We became more horrified.
Bot Watch started on Facebook where links were put up of interest to do with MLMs.
Botwatchblog started and produced factual analysis of the discussions from MN.
MLM members (bots) waded in saying it was all ok. You can earn great money. You just have to work 19 hours a day and not worry about morals.
Bots complained about their names being used. Their lawyers complained to MNHQ so that MN now do not allow us to use bots' names or show screengrabs of their writings even if it is in the public domain.
Blogs and FB posts increased, with the increasing amount of facts and whistleblowers coming forward.
FL lawyer tried to get TV YouTube video banned.
Bots claimed we were bullying them because we were asking them questions they couldn't answer. we were called middle aged women and accused of being drug dealers.
It got a bit nasty so we ate some cheese for a bit and they went away.
Health claims from FL bots now reducing dramatically as a result of pestering from all of us.
We stopped telling Eyes he was too serious. We all started thinking in his language and realised he was right.
Eyes turned out to be very funny and entertained us all.
Sunday Times article produced exposing FL. With a little help from people here.
Lawyers still persisting in trying to ban TV's videos.

Looking at FL accounts, Rex owns the building at FLHQ. He paid himself rent. A lot of rent.

It will be 'market-set'. I have little doubt that there are a good many income streams puddling around in any MLM.

throwingpebbles · 01/04/2016 09:14

Sounds like rexy should be the one with a boasty Facebook page about how he makes lots of money without ever working ...

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 09:27

You need to 'break-up' income streams though, throwing. Never one big lump to one individual. (It keeps the accountants busy - and the detractors and HMRC/IRS as well.

Toobusytowee · 01/04/2016 09:40

Cozie, I did a post for people who were wondering why their MLM 'business' wasn't going too well. botwatchblog.wordpress.com/2016/02/12/are-you-in-an-mlm-having-doubts/

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 09:44

Thanks Toobusy. That had slipped my mind.

Maybe there's a potentially productive partnership there ? (Between 'Having doubts' and 'People who care'.)

Toobusytowee · 01/04/2016 09:55

I figured people just joining and people who had been in it a bit would have different information needs. Someone in it a bit will know about mindset training and success days for example.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 10:05

It's a fair enough assumption - but remember also that serving adherents will have been trained to reject all information that may seem 'discordant' - and also to view information in different ways. There have been posts on these threads from ex-MLMers who may have 'heard' of certain views but didn't really understand such things as Mindset training and Success days until they'd come here and discussed them.

Arguably, therefore, it might be necessary to actually 'disabuse' people of their negativity before leaving them to find out about the reality for themselves.

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 10:06

Sorry - just musing here. I'll go and make a cuppa directly. Grin

FayKorgasm · 01/04/2016 11:48

I have lurked on these threads since they were in single figures. A relative who waxed lyrical about FL has recently jumped a sinking ship been selected to be part of Arseliix with her DP. She has been through a lot in the last few years so I would absolutly class her as vulnerable. She recommended these videos along the lines of If you believe hard enough it will happen speil.
They offer a payment plan for the weightloss drops so things must be ropey.

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 12:31

It makes you depressed.

Sadly, I should imagine that the Payment Plan is just another weapon that they've dreamed up for the recruiter's armoury - to cater for those people who use lack of immediate funds as an excuse to decline. ('It's fine - you'll easily make enough to cover the payments and then you'll have managed to get in at the very beginning. You can't lose, Hun!)

And if the person signs to keep the friend happy but anticipating that they can 'get out of it?..........Well.

Perhaps I'm too cynical?

Twunk · 01/04/2016 13:19

It's so cynical it hurts.

Sadly it's often the way that people move to a second MLM. Let's hope they'll realise it's never going to work ASAP. Sadly the shills do such harm in this respect - making out that if you are on top of the pyramid and have the right face you will make your fortune.

DollyTwat · 01/04/2016 13:23

Saw this this morning.
I'm going to suggest 'scam baby'

MLM Bot Watch 17- chat about Utah based tragicomic cultastic racketeering scamalangadingdongs like Forever Living, Ariix, Herbalife, Younique, Juiceplus etc etc etc
FayKorgasm · 01/04/2016 13:39

She fed her DS a spoon of aloe gloop a day since he was a tiny baby and now she feeds him full of Ariix vitamin pills. These kids are going to grow up thinking all this is normal and good for them.

She is in so much debt trying to portray this lifestyle that she keeps recruiting to pay her debts.

throwingpebbles · 01/04/2016 13:46

Terrible to hear about your relative fayk Angry. And yes whole new generation of children being dragged in 😡

fastdaytears · 01/04/2016 13:51

Ooh can I vote Tragicomic Baby? Where do we submit our suggestions? Surely Rexy isn't going to decide himself like a homophobic, zillionaire dictator?

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 13:57

Having an idle browse - as you do - and discovered a whole raft of possible venues for 'educational purposes'. Might I remind people not to concentrate on Facebook, Twitter etc but, possibly, to venture further afield? Apps might be a good starting point to your journey. Smile

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 14:16

Just think of the list of sites you would use yourself as a commonplace. Smile

gottaloveascamhun · 01/04/2016 15:28

Awwww- my Scamberry nails are peeling off :( so disappointed in my wampum hunz! Better go and get a nice real manicure instead. Honestly. If I'd spent £15 on this I'd be raging.

redjellybean · 01/04/2016 16:05

I recently found this thread as one of my friends on fb keeps 'liking' photos and posts from Juice Plus accounts. What I don't understand is, do they have sub names e.g. one goes on about belonging to Cece project and the other Health Babes but will still under Juice plus.
One posted how her earning sorry bonus was £21,600 this month....

Toobusytowee · 01/04/2016 17:04

Redjelly, how did she phrase her earnings claim? She might have written something that made you think she earned that but didn't. For example, some people cite how much money their team took that month. But make it look like they earned it. What were her exact words?

OP posts:
RebeccaMumsnet · 01/04/2016 17:09

Hi all,

We have had to ban eyespying for repeatedly mentioning individuals by name on these threads, after we have asked him (again repeatedly) not to. Also, he uses Mumsnet to post only about this issue.

We want Mumsnet to be a place where conversations can be had and freedom of speech is, well, free. However, we have to adhere to our own talk guidelines, and to the law. We have asked several times that posters not mention or post up identifying information about individuals on these threads, but the practise has continued.

So we're asking you, please, again, to stop posting about individuals and stop swapping the RL details of third parties. We have received complaints of defamation, harassment of identifiable individuals and hate speech related to the owners' religious beliefs off the back of these threads, and it's important that you're aware that you may be personally legally liable for things that you post here.

redjellybean · 01/04/2016 17:09

Words are:
£21,600 bonus Ontop Of My Wages This Month
Reconfirmed My EMD position...

FLhahaha · 01/04/2016 17:25

Ban? Permanently? That is a bit harsh, Rebecca. And since when did you need to use Mumsnet for more than one thing?

I understand you set the rules but we feel it particularly galling that it seems possible for people to complain about other people discussing open profiles on Facebook, particularly when the complainer has been, shall we say, economical with the truth in order to deliberately entice people into a business purely for the personal gain of the complainer.

Anyway, your rules, but please could it be a suspension rather than a ban?

n0taBotfan · 01/04/2016 17:32

Yes. Please reconsider the ban of eyes, Rebecca - he is such a valued contributor to these threads! #teameyes
