Siwi, maybe you're right.

Exactly!

siwi
Far from beaten, and if pointing out fraudulent medical claims, for instance, results in threats of the police? Bring it on.

Siwi · 29/01/2016 18:02

Thanks.
I'm getting scared now.

Can they trace my address from MNHQ? I think that happened about a year ago. Some poor lady got the police at her door. It turned out that she wasn't even a mumsnet tear but goes to show that it CAN and DOES happen.

I have had posts deleted.

Does anyone know what I will be charged with?

Dh (bless him) is coming home early. He said that I am getting into a flap and not to worry.

Siwi that's exactly what bullies want you to feel like
You've done nothing wrong.

Norma27 · 29/01/2016 18:12

Siwi- don't be worried. That is what the evil gits are hoping for. Xx

holdontoyourbutts · 29/01/2016 18:13

Siwi you have done nothing wrong, no one is going to turn up at your door. The PR team at FL have a job to do because a lot of websites, not just mumsnet, come up on the first page of google which is very bad press for them.

The worst thing they can do, the absolute worst, is ask that this thread be deleted. If you don't feel comfortable then I'm sure you can ask for your posts to be deleted, but please rest assured you are not in any trouble or have done anything wrong!

WhirlwindHugs · 29/01/2016 18:13

Siwi, FLP would be very unlikely to dox you like that - but if you are worried talk to HQ they have helped people anonymise themselves before.

I think if you obscure the names in screencaps they're okay to post? Just not direct linking.

throwingpebbles · 29/01/2016 18:14

siwi none of us are saying anything new. There are plenty of corroborating blogs. FLnwill threaten these things but they would be utter fools to take action due to the inevitable scrutiny that follows!

throwingpebbles · 29/01/2016 18:15

Plus I can't think of a single ground on which they could actually take action. We have based our discussion on information their bots have put out their on the Internet, I hadn't been speculation or fabrication!

throwingpebbles · 29/01/2016 18:16

*there!
Dammit! I'm turning into a bot Shock

cozietoesie · 29/01/2016 18:19

I would imagine that the big guys are buying time and that this is a rearguard action. Pyramid selling is already illegal and MLMs' days - at least the 'glory days' - are likely now numbered; the legislators and - more importantly - the Revenue have them in their sights now.

SocksRock · 29/01/2016 18:22

I had a post deleted as well - for pointing out that calling someone a moron is horrible disablist language. One bot had used this on her facebook page - I named her which is why I assume my post was deleted. Totally not worried about the police.

holdontoyourbutts · 29/01/2016 18:23

I would imagine that part of FL's tactics here are to silence ex members, because they can discredit people who criticise the business who have never been part of it, however when you have people speaking out who know what goes on it becomes a lot harder to do so.

SocksRock · 29/01/2016 18:24

And if FL are reading this, which I know they are, then maybe they should be giving guidlines to their business owners on not coming across as predjudiced hateful individuals, as it does not reflect well on their business.

kamchatka23 · 29/01/2016 18:26

I've really enjoyed (although not sure if that's always the right word for it) reading these threads, and it would be a shame to delete them - I for one have learned an awful lot from them.
Myself, I first became aware of FL a couple of years ago at a friends barbecue when another mutual friend had just started selling it. She set up a table in my friends dining room and spent the whole evening trying to flog her wares - it pretty much spoilt the whole event and she ended up leaving in a mard over it, because we weren't being 'supportive'. Since then it's gone from bad to worse, she's fallen out with several people she roped into her 'team' because they weren't pulling their weight, split up with her husband over it for a few months, and more or less dropped all her old friends. Her Facebook has obviously become a constant stream of hashtags, boasting about her fictional lifestyle and positivity memes. It's all very sad and I honestly thought she had more sense.

Lovewineandchocs · 29/01/2016 18:27

*siwi please don't worry. I'm a data protection lawyer. mumsnet cannot pass your personal information onto the police and cannot be forced to do so without a court order. Which they won't get as no crime has been committed and no circumstances exist to justify getting such an order

holdontoyourbutts · 29/01/2016 18:33

Kam I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that BBQ!

Ilovefluffysheep · 29/01/2016 18:36

I feel really sad that people on here are saying they are scared and want the thread deleted. Thats exactly what the bots want. This has clearly rattled them and had a massive effect, which I don't think any of us were really expecting.

As for the threat of the police, thats just laughable. I'm a police officer and cannot for the life of me see anything that the police would investigate. As someone else said, police forces up and down the country are so stretched for resources that you struggle to get a bobby out when a house has been burgled in some areas. Do you honestly think the police would have any interest in people taking information that is legitimately out in the public domain and using that to truthfully warn others about mlm's? Definitely not.

rayofhope · 29/01/2016 18:38

siwi please try not to worry. That's not right that you're so worried. They shouldn't be threatening people on here with police.

I had a dream the other night that I put a photo on here that identified me and that I got loads of abuse from my upline and trolled by other reps. Glad it was just a dream though.

Mlmwmnbn · 29/01/2016 18:38

Siwi is ok.

What has Barbara Striesland got to do with it?

AloeFucker · 29/01/2016 18:40

DollyTwat Grin

rayofhope · 29/01/2016 18:42

Lol dolly

cozietoesie · 29/01/2016 18:43

I'm not as surprised, ilove. MN is an influential site and - given that the majority of MLMers seem to be women - it can't be portrayed as 'men attacking women' only as ' women protecting and empathising with other women'. Given the MLMs' many current problems, I can understand their concerns.
