Absolutely nothing. DD is now almost 13. Apparently he has enough to support his two children with his wife, but can't afford anything for his firstborn Hmm .

apparently £100 a week for DS (9), so he told the courts when trying to get custody Hmm in reality, he once bought a pair of wellies, when DS was 2, ooh and a sticker book for DSs birthday this year, I even had to send packed lunch on contact days but he's decided as he cant have custody he just wont turn up to see his son anymore Angry

I get 70 a week for 2 daughters, he earns 500 a week and pays no rent bills etc as he lives with new gf, refuses to help towards school clothes and other one off bits n bobs (ie when one of their beds broke I found one online for £89, asked him to go halves with me... He laughed in my face!)
My post budgeting help! Says it all really... The pennies just don't stretch sometimes

Absolutely nothing for 2DC and it's been 4 years, on contact days I have to take and fetch them and provide food and anything else they need.. He can't afford it, yet can carry on having more DC Hmm

My DH's ex gets £1250 spousal maintenance and £450 child maintenance a month. Their teenager splits their time between the two houses 50/50 - although it is more like 60/40 in our favour. When he was earning he was using his savings to cover this. Now he is not (he recently lost his job, which is enormously stressful for him), well we'll wait and see...

Dm gets £5 a week for 16yr old Db. I'm surprised that a lot of men are allowed to so blatantly shirk their responsibilities as parents.

12345 In answer to your question. £800 per month doesn't go very far towards supporting a child especially if you have to rely on full time childcare in order to go to work. I know in London your looking at about £1200 for 8am-6pm in a nursery. Why should a father not contribute towards this? The cost of raising a child isn't fixed. For some £300 pm will cover their costs. For others it won't. I certainly wouldn't judge someone who said that £800 wasn't enough.
