Anyone with 5 kids receiving tax credits - how much do you get? <yes nosey I know>

I have 5 kids, one of whom is in receipt of the lower rate of disability living allowance for personal care. Tax credits take account of this, I know, but does anyone know what the rate is? I can't find any breakdown on the bumpf we received.

I receive £700 monthly from tax credits and dh earns £22,000 pa. This sounds like a lot to me - it's gone up from £550pm for the last tax year even though dh wage has not changed. I don't work.

Does this amount sounds right. Can I be really nosey and ask what you get to those MNers with 5 kids?

Thanks.

Oh I know I could phone up and ask but I've made enquiries before and then ended up with 4 lots of the same paperwork through the post and a cocked up payment to boot so was hoping I could pick MN's brains first! Smile

Oh god, I'm the only nutter with 5 kids who is stoopid enough to admit it!

well hun i have only 3 kids so not much help here. It does seem a lot of money though hoping someone will be able to advise you

nutcracker · 28/04/2006 16:21

Hmmm dunno but if it helps, I have 3 kids and when xp was here and earning £14500 a year we used to get roughly £500 a month off them in WTC and CTC.

Now I am on my own with the 3 kids and I get £468 CTC a month.

moono · 28/04/2006 16:24

Crikey it does sound a lot that I'm getting compared to you lot! I wonder if dd's DLA element bumps it up significantly?

hiya, I've just used that site without having to register, haven't as many kids as you so sorry I can't help out, just thought I'd mention that you can use itSmile

I have just put in the details you have given, it says that the weekly amount is £189. But thats not knowing if you have a baby under 1, or any over 16.

moono · 28/04/2006 17:43

cheers browny, I have seen a similar site before and it was a bugger to get on with iirc which is why I tend not to bother trying now.

me23 didn't mean to sound ungrateful, thanks I appreciate you doing the link.

Even if dd's dla money bumps things up a bit, it still sounds a lot of money to me. I mean, £700 a month on dh's salary of £22,000?

If the extra £150 has appeared since you started getting DLA then that sounds about right.

moono · 28/04/2006 17:49

sparkly, how did you get it to work that out? I just tried and it keeps saying I am entitled to £0, can'tn figure what I'm doing wrong though.

dd is 14 and receives lower rate dla.
ds's are 12, 10, 3 and 16mths.

If anyone can get a figure before I can on that info I'd be dead grateful.

coppertop - no dd has received high rate previously when she had a blue badge and lower rate now that she is more or less disability free but with a few little niggles.

Higher amount has been since beginning of tax year. Yet our income has not changed nor have any other personal circs. Which is why I am wondering if they have made a mistake despite us filling in the forms they sent us, so they are aware of everything they need to know.

Will try that site calculator again

sparklygothkat - thank you for doing that. I guess it works out about right then, based on your info. Shall I stop stressing and start spending the money, whaddya reckon? Grin

I have worked out that 4-weekly you should get £731.96, does that sound right??

moono · 28/04/2006 18:06

sparkly, we get almost dead on £700 atm. What would it be without dd's DLA added on? I will try to work it out if I can get my brain working! Smile In November she is up for reassessment for dla and I don't think she will get it anymore.

so, it's the dla that really bumps the money up?

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 28/04/2006 18:13

yes, DLA does bump up the CTC.

supplyteacher · 29/04/2006 09:09

I'll join you in your madness, moono, as I have five kids.

Don't get any tax credits, though, so can't help there.
