JB - sorry was not trying to make you feel bad!
Book arrived Friday with gift (much appreciated as Easter eggs been demolished a while ago now).
Actually, I have read it so will be able to pass on to SwissMiss tomorrow.
Thanks!

JackBauer · 18/04/2010 15:37

Well you did

I have the next 2 nearly ready to go, just a few chapters left, DD1 has horrible fever and cold so might not make it to the post office until tuesday but will send them both on together.

swissmiss · 19/04/2010 11:20

Wheely nothing to send on to you atm, still waiting for my March and April reads to arrive. I'm not sure that Lightshine's even got them off JackB yet.

JackBauer · 20/04/2010 16:16

In my defence I only got them a few weeks ago! Not been well and can't afford postage but both will be sent on friday.

swissmiss · 21/04/2010 21:32

TeamEd It would be mine (swiss') to read first.

JackB Are you feeling any better? Wasn't meaning to have a go, I didn't see the last few messages before posting my last message (not sure what I was looking at! ) I'm with you on the cost of postage. Didn't realise how many ££ I'd be spending over the year on this .

I got HITC's book today, thanks Lights and Jack. Will try and crack on with it and get it out to Wheely asap.

I am okay but the DD's are going through their bouts of being constantly ill and keep giving it to me (inconsiderate gits), will be posting monday!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 07:41

Hello ladies, sorry for barging in here, could I please ask you a few questions?

We set up a bookswap cirlce (Lovelymums bookswap - not that we think we are all lovely, you understand!) about 5 months ago. We seem to have had problems right from the start. As soon as we sort out one issue, another rears its head. The lady who first posted and started it all disappeared off the face of the earth, never to be heard of again. We have also let another person into the circle, who begged us to let her in, posted one book, but has not posted anything on since and now has 2 books. (so 3 books now gone astray)

So,your book swap appears to be the most successful. How do you whip everyone into shape?
There is a core of us who are really eager to keep this going, but feel we need to get written in blood some expectations before we start again.

Any tips, [or your torture plan for dissenters ]would really be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Wheelybug · 27/04/2010 18:08

Hi PA. Hmm are we one of the most successful ? That's good to know .

I guess its luck as to who you have in the group. We have had our issues though - a rogue postie somewhere not delivering, illnesses etc etc. But I think May is our last month and we've just about made it. There'll be a bit of straggling at the end but that's not bad.

What's made us successful - hmm, I guess people have been good about checking here every so often and problems have been sorted out quickly, Swissmiss, who set us up has checked in regularly and helped to sort out problems and holds all the info centrally (list of books, emails etc).

I think to make it v. successful is to make a rule that books are psoted on regardless of whether finished or not to keep the flow. Then they can always be got from a library to be finished. Maybe also making a rule that books should be under a certain word limit. Both those are just my thoughts, not something we've done.

Good luck - hope you get it sorted. I think hen it works its great. I have had my eyes/mind open to lots of new authors which I wouldn't have touched otherwise.

Wheelybug · 27/04/2010 18:10

JackB - hope you're better soon !

Swiss - if its CH by KA that is almost ready to pass on do you want to post straight to Cathcat ? I have read it so would only bounce it on.

Am I right in that we only have 1 more book each to read ?

Wheelybug · 27/04/2010 18:23

oh and another thing... just on the whole book swap thing in general. I think everyone should comment on the book. I know its hard sometimes to find the time but I think its all part and parcel of the bookswap thing.

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 19:21

Thank you so much for all the info Wheelybug.

I think we were doomed from the start when our "leader" bogged off totally.

Lots of tips there for us to get organised with.

Well done on finishing a "lap". Are you going again?

JackBauer · 27/04/2010 19:42

We were going okay but I think the postal strike buggered things up with some being lost and I ended up with 3 books in one month and got all confuddled!

steamedtreaclesponge · 28/04/2010 11:15

caykon - just wanted to say thank you - I received both books a couple of weeks ago. Hope your internet issues resolve themself soon!

simpson · 28/04/2010 12:40

caykon - am posting book on today

OMG is this really this last month??!!

steamed - glad you got them. I am finally back online although now I've broke my ankle, but not such a bad thingas I have to keep it rested and am avaraging a book a day
I better go do some comments as am a bit behind with that part

headintheclouds · 01/05/2010 19:14

I am also guilty of not commenting on every book, but there were a few Id previously read and therefore just sent on without re-reading. But Ive also read some books Id never have picked up.
Are we going to have another loop after our books come back to us,or has everyone had enough?
simpson Ive sent the next one to you on Friday so you should receive soon.

Wheelybug · 04/05/2010 13:54

Thanks for adding comments everyone. Sorry to be bossy .

I'm on for another round -Is Swissmiss happy to continue as our esteemed leader ? She seems to have kept us together pretty well so if you're happy to do it SM that's great but if you don't then I'm happy to take over.

simpson · 04/05/2010 18:30

I have got my book back.

Have we all read 12 then I can't remember??

I am also up for another round too

Wheelybug · 04/05/2010 21:17

I think by the end of it we should have read (or had) 11 books with the 12th being our own.

caykon · 06/05/2010 10:14

simpson I think you should have had my book, to read and send back to me before you got your own back.

simpson · 06/05/2010 10:19

cayon - I did think there was one more to read too....

steamedtreaclesponge · 06/05/2010 12:22

caykon I'm sorry to hear about your ankle - hope you're on the mend!

I'd be up for another round too... have really enjoyed reading everyone's choices, definitely some stuff in there I wouldn't have read otherwise.

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 14/05/2010 22:08

Hi
I am up for another round, and agree with suggestions that books should not be too long and we really do need to try to stick to deadlines, even if we have not finished the books.
I've come across a couple of books which I would definitely never have touched if it were not for this, and have sought out more by the same author.

cathcat · 20/05/2010 00:13

Hi all, not been around recently.

Not had a May book (CH by KA?)

I would def sign up for another round.

Best go leave some book reviews!
