Having recently missed the chance to be a part of a new bookswap, I am just wondering if there is anyone else who would like to start up a new one with me?

Sent first class! I don't know if it's the book or the chocolate but postage was £5.50 Shock

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 23/08/2016 16:24

Glad you've got it ilove. Greenyogagirl i think people were just hoping you were ok. Sorry for your loss and hope your son is ok. Ouch to the postage!

randomer · 23/08/2016 17:05

so sorry I am an utter dimwit....I'd like to set a small one of these up. how do i do it?

JennyWreny · 23/08/2016 17:57

Yes, we were just worried about you Greenyogagirl So sorry to hear things have been difficult for you. Hope your son is feeling better now. That postage is a bit steep, I'm sure it was under £3 when I posted it (although that was probably second class).

randomer The best thing to do is to start a new thread in this topic asking if anyone would like to join a new book swap. We have 8 (I think) of us in this one which is probably a good number.

Everyone chooses a book and PMs the organiser with their book choice as initials (so To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee would be - TKAM by HL), along with their postal address. That way you can check there are no duplicates, but the books will still be a surprise to you. You need to decided a date to send the first books out and then you tell everyone who they need to send each book to e.g. -

reader 1 sends to reader 2
reader 2 sends to reader 3
reader 3 sends to reader 4
reader 4 sends to reader 1

Then you'd need to PM each postal address to just the person who is sending their book to that person.

Then the next month everyone sends the book they have onto the next person, so that eventually everyone gets their own book back with it having been read by everyone in the group.

We also send chocolate with our books and have a maximum of £2.50 chocolate limit.

JennyWreny · 23/08/2016 17:59

Sorry, I hope that makes some sense! Also, each person sets up a thread for their book and each time you send a book on, you write a review of the book on that thread. It's definitely helped that we wrote our MN usernames in the front of the book so you know whose book you are reviewing.

FlysInDreams · 23/08/2016 18:05

Sorry it's not been going well, GreenYogaGirl Flowers. You really didn't need to send extra stuff - I had just assumed that something had happened and that you'd send it when you were able.

Also JennyWreny has told me what the book is so I've started reading it.

Humph, double post!

FlysInDreams · 23/08/2016 18:08

My postage was £3 something for 1st class, so it must be quite a lot!

randomer · 23/08/2016 18:18

thanks got it!

FlysInDreams · 24/08/2016 17:15

Wow, thanks Greenyogagirl! I'm guessing it was the chocolate that made it cost that much!

New new book swap
Greenyogagirl · 24/08/2016 18:16

You're welcome I hope you enjoy!
My son has autism/pda/spd as well as problems with bowels/intestines/kidneys as well as asthma and eczema. On top he has a sickness bug of some sort at the moment and spent year one excluded from school so by now I'm a jibbering wreck lol year 2 starts next week so fingers crossed!
Thank you all for your concern it means a lot, I don't have any support really so tend to feel nobody really wants to know but I'll try and keep you updated if I'm going to be late posting again Smile

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 24/08/2016 18:48

My goodness you've got a lot on your plate. I hope year 2 is better for you.

You're not the last for posting anyway mine hasn't arrived yet (unless lost in post). Have you had a chance to send it yet mariqui?

Greenyogagirl · 24/08/2016 19:23

Thank you Smile

jobnockey · 25/08/2016 12:51

I think my book has arrived as just had a very disappointed DS call me to say the parcel he went to collect from the post office with his dad wasn't in fact his new Pokémon school bag but was actually a present for me...

Hopefully he won't work out there's chocolate inside...

JennyWreny · 25/08/2016 15:30

Aw, sorry to your DS job. I'm surprised it took so long to get to you though as I posted it first class on Saturday. Hope they haven't eaten the choc by the time you get home.

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 28/08/2016 19:57

Hi - still haven't had book yet hoping mariqui is ok.

Flysindreams I think it's your book I would be getting could you pm me the details so I can get it from library/kindle/amazon? Thanks

FlysInDreams · 29/08/2016 07:05

Desperately, I've PM'd you the book details.

Greenyogagirl · 02/09/2016 14:34

Has anyone heard from mariqui yet? I hope she's ok

acsec · 03/09/2016 19:57

Shall in pm Mariqui? I've finished the book, so could pm asking if she's ok and if she'd mind me sending early.

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 04/09/2016 17:20

Yes good idea acsec.

Greenyogagirl · 07/09/2016 11:30

Any reply acsec?

Mariqui · 07/09/2016 13:53

Hi all,

Sorry for my absence. A lot of stuff has been happening for me and everything really continues to be all up in the air.

I think that unfortunately I will have to bow out of this book swap as I have no idea whether I am coming or going at the moment.

Desperately I am so sorry about the lack of books for you but both that I have are enroute to you now.

I suggest that instead of sending yours on to me acsec you send to desperately from now on.

Again I'm really sorry to have let you all down but this is really one thing too many for me currently.

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 07/09/2016 16:45

No need to apologise mariqui. Sorry you're having such a tough time at the moment I hope things improve for you soon. Take care

JennyWreny · 09/09/2016 07:04

Sorry to hear that Mariqui, hope things settle down soon, perhaps you could rejoin us when they do? Thank you so much for organising the book swap in the first place.

Is everyone else happy to post on 13th as usual?
