Now we are 12 !

Here is a list of everyone in our swap group -

Wheelybug
Cathcat
Caykon
Simpson
MoominMymbleandMy
TeamEdward
Lightshinesinthedarkness
S aladbomb
Itsatiggerday
Jas
Bananagirl85
Disenchanted3

So, our aim is to have a first posting on 1st September. Then we will post on 1st of each month thereafter. If we can try and stick to this (obviously 1-2 days after is ok) then we won't get a backlog. Hopefully this will be helped by having shorter books this time !!

Also, even if its just a line of two saying you hated it, or didn't read it, please post a comment on the relevant thread.

So between now and say 7 August (as I am off for 2 weeks after that) can those who haven't send me the book they have chosen.

Any questions just shout.

Can you PM me address??? My email does not seem to be working Hmm

Jas · 07/04/2011 22:22

Mine went in the post today. Sorry I am abit late.

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 08/04/2011 22:06

I have posted on to SaladBomb but still not received anything yet...

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 08/04/2011 22:10

I think I am meant to be reading TVAOEL by MoF - Tiggers Book. I already have a copy so will start reading it.

Wheelybug · 08/04/2011 22:36

No probs simpson - I think the books you are sending on are Moomin's May book and her own (and I have sent her a copy of her April book) so there is no rush.

lightshines - yes you're right, that is the book you're supposed to be reading. Hopefully its on its way - because of the kerfuffle, TeamEd wouldn't have read it until late in the month.

jas - I am still wading through my last month's RL bookclub book so I am in no rush !!

OP posts:
simpson · 21/04/2011 22:49

not had a book yet this month....

Am I supposed to have one or all we all finished??

Wheelybug · 25/04/2011 10:51

simpson - I think you had your April book early and may have posted it on already, if I remember correctly. It was Moomin's - NTAL by AL.

I've finished my book so will post on to Cathcat tomorrow. Then we're on to our final month !!

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 01/05/2011 14:33

Hello All - we're now on our final month! Here is what you should be reading this month. I've put the title of the books in this time so everyone can be reminded of them all (or spot ones you've missed for some reason !)

Wheely - Cathcat's Book - A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmell
Cath - Simpson's book - The Camomile Lawn by Mary Wesley
Simpson - Caykon's book - Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquirel
Moomin - TeamEd's book - The Woman in Black by Susan Hill
Team Ed - Lightshine's book - A Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks
Lightshines - Saladbomb's book - Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Letham
Saladbomb - Tiggerday's book - The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell
Tiigerday - Jas's book - Illusions: The Adventures of a reluctant messiah by Richard Bach
Jas - Wheely's book - The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamed

And there was also Moomin's book which was No Talking After Lights by Angela Lambert.

Jas · 06/05/2011 07:16

I posted my book earlier this week.

Can I ask if everyone wants their original book back or not? This is the first time I've been in a swap that has had the possibility of getting them back, so well done Wheelybug for keeping us all on track!

I don't want mine back, so if it is still around (fairly sure it has gone missing and been replaced more than once) tigger, feel free to pass it on/charity shop it as you see fit.SmileOr you can keep it.

itsatiggerday · 06/05/2011 14:41

Thanks Jas, haven't received it yet so won't get too presumptuous just yet. On that, I haven't posted yet either but I will get my act together tomorrow. Sorry.

Wheelybug · 06/05/2011 16:02

I've received it Jas - thanks !!

As for my book - its a copy as I didn't know if it would make it back or not so please keep it/ pass it on/ chuck it into the nearest charity shop.

OP posts:
simpson · 09/05/2011 12:47

my book arrived a few days ago thanks Smile

itsatiggerday · 09/05/2011 14:41

Sorry Jas, only just sent this morning, hope that's OK.

Jas · 09/05/2011 20:51

No problem tigger. Thanks.

itsatiggerday · 12/05/2011 13:34

Got mine today, thanks. Jas, yours is now a print out (poss Kindle, not sure as I'm a bit behind the times on that) so not sure I can charity shop it. Will get reading anyway but let me know if you'd like an A4 version back!

Jas · 13/05/2011 14:31

No thanks! I kept my copy and sent another one in the circle, so take your time with it. Luckily it is a short book for whoever printed it out!

Wheelybug · 15/05/2011 18:52

I've just finished my last book in the circle - sob...

Whilst the circle hasn't been without its hiccups, its been a great one ! I've enjoyed all the books to different degrees, none I have found a chore so thanks everyone.

I'm not sure how people feel about continuing for another round but I think, after a lot of thought, I'm going to step out. I've been in for 2 years and read so many great books that I wouldn't have otherwise but with keeping up with my RL bookclub and bookswap, it means I don't get much chance to read other stuff.

So, if people want to continue and someone wants to take over being headgirl then let me know and I can send the details of everyone...

OP posts:
LightShinesInTheDarkness · 15/05/2011 23:07

I have not had a book yet in May?
I think I should be getting Saladbomb's book - Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Letham from Team Ed.

Thanks for your comments Wheelybug and for organising this Book Swap.
I love the idea of the swaps but, to be honest, I have got a bit frustrated this time as I have not actually received a book since about February and have replaced two.

Have enjoyed almost everything I have read though, and love the eclectic mix of MNers choices.

Wheelybug · 16/05/2011 09:41

I completely understand your frustration Lightshines. Although I've been lucky to have had all the books and pretty much at the start of each month, I have replaced 3 or more to keep things moving.

Sorry you'venot had a book since Feb - I think you got caught up in the ones that went missing with Caykon but thought that was all on the move again ? Maybe its a bit slower at your point in the cycle because of the problems a couple of months ago. Which books have you missed from the list ?

OP posts:
LightShinesInTheDarkness · 16/05/2011 11:27

Thanks, Wheely. I received A Girl Named Zippy, The Camomile Lawn, Like Water for Chocolate, No Talking After Lights and The Woman in Black. I've read some of the others but have used my own copies - The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Esme Lennox, Reluctant Messiah.
I think 6 people have read my choice.
I'd like to read 'Motherless Brooklyn' whoever has it, and I would like my 'Year of Wonders' back at some stage!

Wheelybug · 16/05/2011 15:41

Hmmm... Lightshines - that's not great.

Does anyone know where the other books are - ? I'm pretty sure The Reluctant Fundamentalist has made it to Jas, where it should be, so not sure how it skipped you... or did this end up getting replaced ?

I replaced your book lightshines and had it sent straight to Moomin so hopefully it should get back to you.... you are welcome to keep it (although I have to say, it was my favourite book of this circle - I bought it for my Mum for Easter as I thought she'd love it too.).

OP posts:
itsatiggerday · 16/05/2011 16:15

I just sent on The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Jas rec'd. Not sure where all the others are, Zippy and Camomile Lawn both went together I think the month before and the others were a fair bit further back than that. But I have no idea whether any of those were replacement versions. I only have the print out version of Reluctant Messiah now which I haven't actually started Blush

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 17/05/2011 10:35

pls - it doesn't really matter, i was not being pissy and I always enjoy seeing what books people have chosen and giving them a go.
my frustration is only with the posting / losing thing.

wheely is dipping out - anyone else interested in going again?

as for my fave of this swap...too close to call. Have already recommended 'Esme Lennox' to loads of people (thanks Tigger Grin) and have my eyes on other Maggie O'F. Have also bought 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' for a friend and was wowed by 'The Woman in Black' (a book that proved the adage that all the best things come in little packages!).
