I can't believe it's happening again, and just when I had got past the point of the last one, and had managed to relax a bit

That is farking atrocious! cause a bloody big fuss you dont deserve this shit hun xx

belgo · 21/05/2008 11:57

That's appaling NJ. Bleeding during pregnancy is potentially very serious and you should have a scan asap (although I really hope in your case it's nothing serious).

I don't know what to say. I think your best bet is to go to a&e, say you're in pain and having bleeding, that you're worried it's ectopic.

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 11:58

Well we might have to go private, just don't want the hassle of it.

I am so cross right now, they've not even offered to do the blood tests so at least we'd have an idea by next fucking Tuesday.

Teuch · 21/05/2008 11:58

Look, you need to be seen, so maybe it is a matter of 'playing' the system?

Can't you go to A&E and say you have pain on on side?

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 11:59

The bleeding has slowed right down, even possibly stopped since I had a bath this morning, so if I say I am bleeding, and then they do an internal scan they will know I'm not IYKWIM?

Teuch · 21/05/2008 11:59

x-posts! In normal circumstances, I would never recommend people exaggerate or invent symptoms, but I do think that this is just a failure of the system.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/05/2008 12:00

I am so sorry to hear this.

Usually, going a bit nuts gets an appointment. Sorry, but it has done for me in the past.

You should not have to wait till next Tuesday, they are having a giraffe. Anyone would go out of their mind by then.

I insisted I get scanned when I mc'd as they told me there would be a wait. DH got a bit shirty on the phone and I was in that afternoon, though I did have to wait with peeps having 12 and 20 week scans as the epu was full, I didnt care, i just needed to know.

Teuch · 21/05/2008 12:01

bUt you described the bleeding as heavy and clotty. I have read the EPU national guidelines and you should definitely be seen, particularly with your history.

YouWillBeDeleted · 21/05/2008 12:01

Thinking of you
NJ. I would go to a&e with pain in my side and hopefully get a scan that way. Best of luck.

Squack · 21/05/2008 12:02

You shouldn't have to go private NJ, but sometimes you are left with no choice.
Ring GP and ask for private recommendation, he should fax the referral to them and you may get in today or tomorrow.

Failing that faff, I think I would present at A&E and say you have abdominal pain and bleeding and are worried about an ectopic. If they don't see you asap/scan you, they ought to be struck off.

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 12:02

Do you think it would be worth ringing ante-natal to see if they could me in with the 12 and 20 weekers? (Is that where you go for 12 and 20 week scans? I can't remember)

belgo · 21/05/2008 12:03

It doesn't matter that you've stopped bleeding. Describe to them the bleeding you've been having, tell them you're having a lot of cramps and that you're very worried about ectopic/ miscarriage (all of which is true)

MamaG · 21/05/2008 12:03

Got to be worth a call NJ

tinkstryingtochill · 21/05/2008 12:04

hope that you get seen nj

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 12:04

I'd get caught out saying about one sided pain, I've no idea exactly where abouts the pain would be with an ectopic, don't know how severe it should be, if the pain moves around or comes and goes..... I am not a good liar.

Teuch · 21/05/2008 12:04

Try it now!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/05/2008 12:05

Think you would have to be referred in to main scanning unit.
I started bleeding on an aeroplane and told the stewardess who called for any docs on the plane and when it landed there was an ambulance on the runway!
I was taken to a&e and the doc who saw me in a&e sent us up to the scanning unit.

I would go straight to a&E.

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 12:05

Is it ante-natel for the 12 and 20 week scans?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/05/2008 12:06

did you call the mw unit? or delivery suite? surely they could get you a scan?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/05/2008 12:06

yeah, it is called 'outpatients womens health' in out hosp, then scanning unit.

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 12:07

Don't know the MW unit number, the numbers are all on the paperwork you get when you book in with them, but I'm not booked in yet.

I think delivery suite would just tell me to go back to EPU, I don't think they get involved until you are much further on.

NatalieJane · 21/05/2008 12:07

Thanks will try them now.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/05/2008 12:08

Oh, i thought you were around 12 weeks? Where did i read that? sorry.

carolcupcake · 21/05/2008 12:08

Did your DH phone A+E? Or was it the EPU that said they wouldn't scan you?
Check the NICE guidelines but I think they have to scan you as an emergency ie, straight away.
I had bleeding in my last pregnancy and they scanned me within an hour of being at hospital, there was none of this appoinments nonsense. Appointments?? For bleeding in pregnancy, honestly its crazy

Piffle · 21/05/2008 12:09

I know it is hard nj but waiting is what's usually advised. Many Ectopics usually do not present with heavy bleeding either. Can you bear to wait and see what happens. I know how hard it is and that you need to know but sometimes nature is just that. Cruel and unfair
I'm very sorry this is happening to you NJ
