Hey, I have very recently suffered a miscarrige (heavy bleeding started 1st feb) at 6+2. Had a scan today to confirm the sac had passed and my hcg is now 22. Keen to start trying again. Anyone else in the same situation? Also very scared. Nervous we won't fall pregnant and if we do, scared it will happen again x

@ChaE05 So my miscarriage started mid July and I had to do load of tests and scans and eventually got clarification mid August so my cycle came back mid September. Then the chemical happened in October and got my cycle back pretty quick after that. Ever since the chemical my periods have been 29 days but last month it was 26/27 so that was unusual for me, this month back to 29 I’m gonna try again this cycle so fingers crossed 🤞. It is a sad situation but it’s nice to have a platform for women to express their feelings and have others who understand the experience.

we’ve been doing the baby dance every day since last week it’s getting exhausting now 🫣😂 @ChaE05

ChaE05 · 19/02/2025 19:37

@Laria19 it really does become a chore doesn't it! Do you plan to test to just see if AF arrives? X

OP posts:
Laria19 · 19/02/2025 19:41

@ChaE05 I am gonna try wait as long as I can. Last month I planned on waiting untill after missed period but then my period arrived exactly on the day it was due. I’m in two minds on what to do, I’m afraid Il have another miscarriage it’s mentally exhausting 😪what’s your plan ? X

Squidtentacles · 19/02/2025 19:42

I went for a scan today as my tests are still (faintly) positive. They could see I have a 2cm bit retained. I had the choice of waiting to see if it comes away on its own, drugs or surgery. Ive chosen to wait! It should hopefully come away once my period arrives🤞they will re-scan me in a few weeks to check.

So I'm frustratingly, a bit behind you all!
Good luck everyone🤞

Laria19 · 19/02/2025 19:48

I had to take the medication but I ended up taking it the 2nd dose because I taught the the first dose didn’t work. I had very little to pass so it actually wasn’t as painful as I was expecting it to be. I know it’s a horrible thing for a woman to do so it scared me when I was told to take the meds 😔hoping your keeping well @Squidtentacles It’s tough to go through x

ChaE05 · 19/02/2025 20:09

@Squidtentacles sorry to hear that...but I think you're doing the right thing and it will come away with period! Hopefully it won't be too long. Then you can track your cycle properly once you've had a period. I didn't realise how common retained tissue was x

ChaE05 · 19/02/2025 20:13

@Laria19 it really is so mentally tough isn't it. Last time I waited until after my period as I was disheartened by the negative pregnancy tests. Think I'll do the same this time. We are actually away on holiday on Monday...so should take my mind off it! We were supposed to go a couple of weeks ago but then the miscarrige happened. So really looking forward to getting away x

Hi everyone
I hope you don’t mind me butting in but I’ve taken such comfort reading your messages! I suffered a MMC nearly a year ago been TTC ever since with a short break in between but still no luck. Had medical management which took me months to get over - the recovery for me was long both physically and emotionally. I wish I saw the threads on Mumsnet last year it would have made me feel so less alone!

My first time using the Clearblue digital ovulation tests this month to check my body is doing what it should be doing (you do doubt yourself after a while!) and I did get my static face so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Good luck everyone on their journeys after miscarriage it really is a tough one ❤️

Laria19 · 19/02/2025 22:00

@ChaE05 A nice break is well deserved. I went away after my first miscarriage and it did help me in a way, it was nice to focus my mind on something other than the miscarriage x

Laria19 · 19/02/2025 22:01

@CoastalSea So sorry to hear what you have been through and I’m glad you found this thread😊Hope this is your month, I got my static face on clearblue digital test Sunday gone so fingers crossed I get a positive result soon 🤞💜

CoastalSea · 19/02/2025 22:15

@Laria19 I got my face Friday just gone! Fingers crossed for both of us 🙏🏻

Laria19 · 19/02/2025 22:39

@CoastalSea it be nice to hear a good update from you soon 🤞sending positive vibes 💜

ChaE05 · 20/02/2025 06:10

@CoastalSea hey and welcome 😊 honestly I'm so sorry for your loss. Nothing can really prepare you.
I have always found clearblue amazing. I use them alongside the cheap ones from amazon and they always match up. I just continue to use the cheaps ones after to see the surge go down so I can see when I ovulated. Exciting you are in your tww now! A few of us it seems! We can all be here to support 🥰

I know I shouldn't do it but I've just been reading into egg quality and how it declines with age. I mean, I knew that was the case but I don't think I really knew the ins and outs. I think I was always focused on making sure there was enough sperm to fertilise the egg. But it's not always the case.. and if my body releases a bad egg then it doesn't matter how much sperm is up there! Just feeling a bit flat reading about it. I'm 38 in a few months and it's made me even more worried about being able to concieve again/miscarrying. Just have to hold onto the fact I'm in good health. X

Hi all. I hope you don't mind me jumping in Smile

I miscarried on 12th at 11 weeks. There was no scan prior but it is assumed that baby had stopped growing a few weeks earlier.

I did a test on 19th and still had an extremely faint positive line (how disheartening is it to want a negative to know everything is ok?!) but I am keen to start ttc again as soon as I can.

I didn't get much from the EPU in terms of next steps (or when we were "safe" to start to ttc or bd again) so I'm wondering when to start testing to see when I'm ovulating?

How soon is too soon to start testing again?

Squidtentacles · 21/02/2025 17:58

@lollypops2303 have you had a scan to check all is out of you? I miscarried on 20th Jan and was told to test 3 weeks later. As test was still positive, I then had to be scanned. Found at scan that I have a small bit of retained tissue. Told that until that comes out (I have the choice to wait, have the drugs, or surgery - i've chosen to wait) but until it comes I won't be able to concieve again. I'm hoping it'll come away with my first period!

ChaE05 · 21/02/2025 18:41

Hi @lollypops2303 so sorry for your loss 💔 I think it's quite normal to have a positive for a little while after as hcg drops. I think I had a very faint positive about 5 days later.
They say you can ovulate as early as 2 weeks after miscarriage. (Taking the first day of your bleed as CD1)
From my personal experience I just ovulated exactly the same time as I usually do. So I am now in my tww. I just started to take ovulation tests about 8 days after the start of the bleed. I would probably continue to take pregnancy tests to see if it becomes negative.
I actually had to go in for a scan a week later to check that all tissue had gone. But I did have a "pregnancy in unknown location" so I'm not sure if it's standard for them to do follow up scans. My hcg was also very low just a week later at 22.
Sending lots of love x

@lolollypops2303 also... i would say it's worth testing with a opk to see if it is showing positive or not. I know that when I was pregnant I used an ovulation test and it was blazing positive but when I started to track my cycle after the miscarriage the ovulation test was negative. So I knew it wasn't picking up hcg. X

@ChaE05 I hate reading things online I’m such an over thinker and just worry if I read too much 🙈 so I wouldn’t worry - everyone is different. My friend had a healthy baby at 40 and I know women in their early 40s can get pregnant. Don’t lose hope just yet. Have you been to a fertility specialist to check your eggs or maybe to just get some peace of mind? I often find to help ease my worrying is to take action as then I feel like I’m making some progress ❤️
