Recurrent Miscarriage Climic - referral

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has managed to get referred to a NHS Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic after 2 miscarriages rather than after 3?

(I've had two consecutive miscarriages and I'm over 35, but I think the norm is to be referred after 3 miscarriages?)

Many thanks!

Also, I'm sorry to read about everyone's losses 💕

@chasingtherainbow1

Hi guys,

I've had 2 miscarriages within 6 months trying for my first baby. I've not been offered any referrals yet as the hospital said I need to have 3 miscarriages to be referred. Thinking of getting my NK cells checked out but I have no idea how to even go about this!

I've tried looking for places online but they all seem to be fertility clinics when you can't fall pregnant rather than when you have recurrent pregnancy loss.

Are there certain ones which are more reputable? I'm in Yorkshire so ideally would rather not go too far but don't want to waste my money on a rubbish one. Don't suppose anyone has any clues?

Hi, so sorry to hear about your losses 💕. Sending strength and hugs, is so difficult this baby making business ❤️. I'm also in Yorkshire and I think York and Leeds (LGI) might have just changed their 3 miscarriages criteria to 2, worth checking if that's the case, there seems to be a bit of uncertainty about it, but go to the 'top' and find out what the current policy is. Your GP should be able to refer you, but there might be other ways to be referred to 🤷‍♀️ I have also been looking for a private option but have also struggled to find a private Recurring Miscarriage Clinic, in Yorkshire. I found one I Sheffield but no idea if it's any good 🤷‍♀️. Please let me know if you find one! How old are you? X

@Chel194

I'm 26, so I'm optimistic and hopefully it'll happen again soon. Back to the gym hard for me now. Fingers crossed you have good news at your scan, praying for you xx
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. You're young so hopefully there will be plenty of opportunities, I still understand if that doesn't make it any easier right now, but you have many years ahead of you. 🥰 Good luck, make sure you ask the doctor before you go back to the gym! Sending love ❤️ X

@heyhop thank you for your kind words ❤️

Maybe I'll speak to my GP about a referral but I'm not getting my hopes up as they don't seem to be very helpful with anything atm.

I'm in Sheffield, do you remember what the private clinic was called? I have a free weekend this weekend so I might have a proper look into it. I'm 32, which I know seems like I still have loads of time but I do panic a lot about my age now in case it takes forever to finally get out rainbow baby!

Hi,

My GP wasn't very helpful either when I asked to be referred while being pregnant and told me I would have to wait for an appointment with my consultant (who was overseeing my pregnancy) , even though I feared that would make the referral too late, so it's probably best to make sure one is referred before becoming pregnant, so everything is in place/all the testing is done.
Worth checking with the NHS Sheffield hospitals which one runs a Recurring Miscarriage Clinic and check about 2 or 3 criteria. I know Manchester has a 2 criteria, here is some more information for you, including the private hospital in Sheffield with a Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic (as I wrote I don't know how well it rates / doesn't rate.) You could also try Leeds Fertility, I don't know what they offer exactly but worth a look, link below. Please let me know what you find out, as I'm also looking. Likewise will let you know if I find any other places.
Good luck! I had two miscarriages at the age of 43 and 44 and then at 45 I went on to conceive my 4th child (naturally). And now at 48 trying for number 5! Don't give up! X

@heyhop I'm at the EPU now getting bloods done again as they're monitoring my hcg levels as they are falling slowly. I'll ask about getting a referral but I'm guessing it will be a no.

Yep I'll definitely let you know if I find anything and thanks for the links! It's nice to hear that you've had successful pregnancies and gives me hope that I might get one, just have to keep trying! X

Yes, just keep on trying, that's all we can do!
Unfortunately I was told by the Early Pregnancy Unit today that I'm having a miscarriage. They said it would have to be my GP who would have to refer my to the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, failing that I'll ask my NHS fertility doctor to refer me. Sending lots of strength your way! X
Below is my fertility history (all conceived naturally) and I'll continue trying for number 5! X

39 yrs - conceived child 1
41 yrs - conceived child 2
43 yrs - conceived child 3
44 yrs - miscarriage
45 yrs - miscarriage
45 yrs - conceived child 4
48 yrs - miscarriage

Hey everyone, went for scan and more bloods yesterday as HCG didn't fall the way it should of by now.

Theyve found an ectopic mass/ no yolk sac or fetus and in my uterus, not my Fallopian tube. Back today to have medical management injection to help remove the pregnancy. Been told not allowed to get pregnant for 3 months after the injection.

Has anyone had this done before, what am I to expect?
Did anyone get pregnant after it & if so ended well ?

Sorry for all the questions 😣
