DC during Covid

I have an appointment next week where I will need to decide how to deal with my anembryonic pregnancy. I don't think I can wait for the miscarriage to happen naturally. My body is still sure I'm pregnant. I dread the idea of pills as I had them last time and it was a horrific experience which still ended up with DC. But I'm also wondering whether I will be offered to have DC at all due to covid. Are they doing it these days? I want my body back. Not knowing what is going to happen is the worst.

Hi NavyBerry,

Firstly, I am so sorry you are going through this a second time ❤️

I think it does depend on your local trust, but I had a MMC last month and was able to have surgical management. I was swabbed for covid and the surgery booked for 3 days later on condition the swab came back negative, which it did after 2 days. They warned me that it might start naturally anyway if I waited but for me it didn’t. I had to go alone and wear a mask at all times.

I was devastated and took it very hard emotionally but physically it was very manageable. I bled for around 10 days after but pretty lightly and the pain was mild, other than one night just a few days after where I had severe cramps and passed tissue. I would probably go for the same again if I ever found myself back in the same situation.

Sending you lots of love and kindness and hoping you are able to manage it in your preferred way xxx

@Tayler89 thank you very much! That's reassuring! Hope I'll be offered it as well.
And good luck to you!

I had a miscarriage last week and I was offered surgical management. Some trusts have stopped offering the procedure under general anaesthetic but mine still gave me both surgical options. As well as medical management. Hope it all goes well for you. Sorry for your loss.

@dogsandbabies oh sorry for your loss! I cannot imagine it being done not under a general anesthesia. It is hard enough already.

Hi@NavyBerry
Sorry you have found yourself in this awful situation...
Here's a link to a post I started a few weeks ago about mva (d&c under local anaesthetic)....there's a few of us on there who have experienced it and it may be of some help for you.

What is offered does vary trust to trust but I think things are starting to resume now so hopefully you'll have all the options available for you.
I found that being armed with information and reading 1st hand experiences of every type of management helped me make the best decision for me.
Sending hugs and feel free to ask any questions. Xx
