Hi SleepyCaz, so sorry you've been having such a worrying day. I really hope the bleeding has stopped and that you're able to feel a bit more positive. I do hear lots of stories about people who bleed during pregnancy and all continues to be well but I know how scary it is.
I had a miscarriage last summer at 14+5 weeks so unfortunately I have an idea of what one might expect if miscarrying at this stage. Luckily, what happened to me sounds nothing at all like you're experiencing if that helps at all.
I had a bit of bleeding at 7 or 8 weeks, then felt awful for a few more weeks with pains and cramps on and off (was my 1st pregnancy so just assumed that was normal). Then a few days before I miscarried (at about 14+2) I started having quite bad pains and more red bleeding. Gradually the bleeding got heavier and the pains got worse.
I went to hospital on the Saturday morning and they checked me out, couldn't find any obvious problem but offered me a bed to stay in - should have known that wasn't such a good sign! I couldn't face staying in so went home but was back in A&E at 4 the next morning with the most intense pains every 2 minutes. Again, it was my first pregnancy so I was too stupid to realise the pains I was having were contractions. I was admitted and miscarried. Shortly after I was taken to theatre for an ERPC and then they let me out that night. I had lost quite a lot of blood but they let me go without a transfusion because I promised to do nothing for a week and to diligently take my iron tablets.
It was obviously not a pleasant experience but I have to say that the NHS care I received was excellent - everyone was so very kind to us.
Sorry, that's so long but I hope it's a bit reassuring since, as you can see, this really doesn't sound like what you are experiencing at the moment. From what happened to me it seems unlikely that you would be miscarrying without red bleeding and lots of pain!
Fingers firmly crossed that this will sort itself out and that all will be well for you.
Have you been given any advice about your miscarriages? A friend of mine had several miscarriages and after reading lots about it she started taking very low dose aspirin (75mg a day) the next time she got pregnant. She asked her GP about it and he said something about the fact that although he couldn't officially tell her to take it, he wasn't going to suggest she didn't. Her next two pregnancies were successful and she carried to full term. Apparently it helps to prevent blood clotting in the placenta which can be a cause of MC.
My circumstances are different from yours but I am currently pregnant again (18 weeks now and still terrified - this whole pregnancy thing is a crazy roller coaster) but my doctor has put me on aspirin too. Might be worth asking your consultant about it.
