Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Does anyone have experience of molar pregnancy? Bit shocked here

I had a miscarriage and ERPC three weeks ago. Was just starting to recover from that when I got a phone call from my EPU today saying that I had had a molar pregnancy and am being referred to the specialist unit at Charing Cross Hospital. I have read all the information and am just a bit in shock with it all now. I know that the prognosis on all fronts is good but just can't quite believe it's happening to me. I wondered if anyone else had been through this and what their experience of it all was. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, exexpat, I did wonder about regrowth and bleeding from what I have read on this thread and others. Nothing much to report at the moment so will keep an eye on things. I have had 'periody legs' for the last day or so (which I realise probably means nothing to most people but is what always happens before my period comes - strange wibbly legs!) Time to have another calming tea (it is a bit early for Wine, isn't it?)

Never too early for Wine on a Sunday, in my opinion Grin. If you've been feeling periody in other ways then that may be it and that is definitely good news. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

(oh, and I can spell haemorrhaging really....)

That is very good news indeed so not at all surprising that your period has started already. Sounds like it should be smooth going from here Smile.

Good good good. My first results were in the thousands, so yours definitely sounds good. Fingers crossed for the next one, but after that it should be plain sailing.

It is a damn weird thing, the whole molar pg business.

It really is damn weird, Habbibu. Feeling much better since my first result but still cannot stop Googling, trying to seek out the most obscure medical research paper from Rio De Janeiro in case it tells me something new (which they invariably don't!) It's also so strange to feel like you're the only person in the world that this is happening to right now - that of all the gazillions of MNetters out there, it's just me (not that I would wish this crap on anyone, of course). Even on the MP forums no-one posts much. You can start to feel a bit leper-like. Thank goodness for you ladies. Smile

Much more positive this week and starting to get out and about again (off for cocktails later with some friends, first night out in months, yum!) And seeing as I won't be having a baby this year, it seems only right to book as many holidays as possible now that DS is easier to travel with. Grin

Hope everyone is good (and do let me know if there's any obscure moley medical papers of interest I may have missed...Wink)

Good plans, all of them. And yy to the googling - you become oh so familiar with Pubmed after a while...

Just popping by to see how you're doing. The holidays sound like the right approach, I'm doing just the same! Hope the cocktails were fun!

[excitedly Googles PubMed, which presents a hitherto unexplored obsessing opportunity]

Blackkat, you are very kind. How are you doing? Hope you are recovering okay, physically and emotionally. It's a hard road, moley or nay, so hope you are okay.

I had a molar pregnancy in 1999.Became malignant and I had to go to charing cross for the chemo treatment. But since then I have gone on to have 3 lovely dcs(with some bumps along the road) so hope that gives you some hope for a good outcome. All the best with the ttc.

Thank you pink4ever. Very glad for you that your story had a happy ending. Smile

And thanks Habbibu. Folic acid duly purchased and now I just have to fill the next four months with lots of distraction.

Keep us posted, arti - the post-molar community here is a little but close one!

Thanks ColdStew, hope you have put your molar behind you now. It is a little strange being part of such a select bunch Grin but thank goodness for the interweb. Hope also that if this thread eventually has a happy ending, it will be of some small comfort to someone diagnosed with a MP who is Googling this thread from the future! I know I went Google-mad and threads like Habbibu's were brilliant to read and realise there is a light at the end of a very freaky tunnel.

Thank you both. Smile

Blackkat - hadn't seen you around for a while and was hoping you were okay. I see from a quick lurk on the other thread that congrats are due! Grin Really hope all goes well for you.

mousebacon - how are you? I remember that it was taking a while for your body to get back to normal after the mc and hope that things are on the mend for you.

I am feeling very grumpy today for the first time in ages. But on the plus side, my leave in booked for May so trip to China is go!

I am also off to Charing X in a couple of weeks for an information afternoon they hold each month. I will meet other real live people who have had an MP! There is a Q&A session and I bet £20 that the first question will be "Do I really have to wait to TTC? Really? Can't I try a bit sooner? Please?" Grin

Hi Arti hope you're feeling in better sorts now?! The trip to China sounds AMAzing...which bits are you going to see?
Thanks for your congrats, I'd been lurking bcs RL is hectic at the moment and I've been trying not to think about TTC.

Do you mind if I still check in/post on your thread? Would entirely understand if not, and I earnestly mean that! x

Ah, it all got a bit complicated and I'm still waiting for my body to sort itself out to be honest. I had about an hour of medical people thinking it was molar but it wasn't.

I'm genuinely pleased you're on the mend - good luck with the q&a session Smile

mousebacon, I'm sorry to hear that. Sad I hope that you are in good hands and that things get back to normal soon. It's bad enough to have a mc without things dragging on for whatever reason.

Blackkat, don't you dare desert my thread! Grin You have been so kind to me when I had only met you for a couple of days on the TTC thread. I am really pleased for you, especially as I know that it took a long time for you to conceive last time. I think someone on the TTC thread summed it up well the other day - when people get pg you feel Envy and on the wrong day a bit Sad but you are still pleased for them. Re our hol we are going to Beijing as that is where our friends live - she is Chinese and they also have toddlers so that will be helpful! Then we will go somewhere else, to be decided.

I think I'm entering a new phase - after the initial elation of getting down to normal quickly, now I am grumpy and inpatient at having to wait for the all-clear. Spent the day scouring the internet for any evidence that people who get down to normal hcg levels then experience them rising again - found one case in the last 20 years! I can see why 75% of people don't wait! Still, 6 weeks until our holiday and then by the time we get back will be on the home straight (hopefully, fingers crossed etc.)

Latest test normal again. Smile

Flights to China booked for next month - off to see the Great Wall! Grin

Nearly halfway through the six month wait! (Although already started tempting myself with starting a leeeetle bit earlier - then getting all scared and ruling it out).

Hope everyone else is good and pregnancies are all going well. x
