Can you feel when Evorel Sequi patches are due to be changed?

I'm not sure if I'm going mad, or it's psychosomatic or whatever, but for those of you on Evorel Sequi patches...can you feel when one is wearing off and needs changing?!

I change mine on a Wednesday and Saturday. I can suddenly start getting really tetchy late afternoon on these days, then realise I'm due a patch change.

Just wondering if anyone else can feel the effects of the patches wearing off when it's time to change?

Then again, my family have been pissing me off today so it's probably that and nothing to do with my hormones ! 🤣

I'll be interested in any replies to this as I'm due to change from oral HRT to these patches in a couple of weeks!

Sillysausage76 · 27/06/2026 20:13

No I dont, I change mine twice a week also, but never the same time of day. Do you feel it on both days as the patches get changed after 3 and 4 days so surely on 3 day change you'd be ok. (Hope that makes sense)

almondfinger · 27/06/2026 20:15

I got tetchy on them and found them crap. Am currently on Estramon. Estradot really bloated my stomach. I think I did best on gel but at 3 pumps it was v sticky and I kept forgetting to put it on.

BonosToupee · 27/06/2026 20:40

I’m a longtime user of evorel conti and have no sense of them wearing off.
They have truly been a life saver for me.

bugalugs45 · 27/06/2026 20:42

Nope, and quite often i forget to change it for a day or 2 ( went away for weekend recently without spare ) and noticed no change , unfortunately it hasn’t improved my
brain fog or memory!

UniChildQuestions · 27/06/2026 20:47

Not really

But curious to know how you know what is the patches in terms of improvement and what isnt

I do wed 3.5 days between mine so one is a morning and one and evening.

I am in my first 3 months though.

I had one fall off and used one from another box... so I hope that still works out as they don't give you spares.

I had quite a long time without a period too - so I'm curious about all this light bleeding I get or traces how that works out.

UniChildQuestions · 27/06/2026 20:47

I also want sure how I'd know if it wasn't suiting me...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2026 20:47

I definitely notice when it’s time to change from combi to oestrogen only. After 2 weeks on the progesterone I feel so sleepy and lethargic and slow. I’ve been on them 3 years. I hate them, they make it impossible to lose weight and my cycle hasn’t synched to them at all so I have weird pmt feelings at various times. But I’m scared to come off them because I dread the return of the anxiety and doom and poor sleep 🤷‍♀️

Waitingforaprick · 27/06/2026 20:54

I did until I recently upped my dose to 1 and a half patches. I wouldn't sleep so well the night before it was due to be changed and it was consistent.

BretonStripe · 27/06/2026 21:59

I start to feel short-tempered and agitated, then a few hours after putting a fresh patch on feel calmer. I change mine approx 3pm Weds then 9pm Sat, but today changed it earlier to see if it helped my mood. Might just be psychological though, like I said.

I too feel crappy towards the end of the 4 x Evorel50 patches @thenewaveragebear1983 but was like that two weeks before a bleed before starting HRT (in January) anyway, so figured it's just PMT.

On HRT to help with mood swings/low mood, hair thinning and protecting bone density, and heard it's an anti-inflammatory, too.

I'm on Estradot rather than Evorel and I feel the same. I understood that it's not an instant thing, it takes weeks usually for the hormones to stabilise so I don't see how it's possible to have that short term mood effect, but the last day on a patch is definitely a struggle for me - and the poor people who have to live with me 😢.

What dose are you on? I'm wondering if 50mg isn't enough for me if this is happening, and I need to try 75mg.

You probably need a change. After a year on sequential HRT you can change to continuous HRT so you have the estrogen and progesterone every day. You might need an increase in estrogen too and might find that estrogen only patches with micronised progesterone capsules suit you better. The progesterone in the patches is synthetic whereas the capsules are body identical.

Thawtfulpanda · 27/06/2026 22:38

I'm on evorel 50 and can definitely tell when it needs to change. I get anxious and if I leave it a few hours too long then a killer migraine. I've just had the dose upped to 75 to try and even it out a bit.

I'm on 50 but due to go up to 75 at my next visit in September - not for this reason but because 50 is not bringing my symptoms down enough anymore.

hereforthelolz · 27/06/2026 23:33

Yeah. Mine are normally starting to unpeel themselves 😅

MeridaBrave · 27/06/2026 23:36

Sounds like the dose is too low. I’d ask about it being increased.

fetchacloth · 28/06/2026 00:06

Yes I can. The patch that has to last 4 days is awful on day 4. I feel really lethargic, low in mood and have hot flushes 🙄. I'm currently on Evorel conti but I would go back to Evorel sequi in a heartbeat if my doctor would let me. I didn't have a "day 4 'problem on those patches 😕.

KatyMac · 28/06/2026 00:13

Im on conti and I really felt the 4 day patch- it was awful

I was cutting them in half to get a more even spread rather than plenty then crash

I then changed to every 3 days so there wasn't as large a crash

Then they put me up to 1.5 twice a week and more recently 2 twice a week but I cut them in half and actually only use 3.5 a week as a half every day and my mood, joint pain and sleep are much better

LesSanglotsLonguesDesViolonsDAutomne · 28/06/2026 00:18

I can tell when I’m at the end of my 4 day wear. I change on Saturday and Tuesday, so I’ve shifted to changing Saturday morning and Tuesday evening, so I wear them both for 3.5 days, and that seems to have done the trick.

I’m already on Evorel 75 and am due for a hysterectomy so I’m saving going up to 100, my last available increment, until after that, as I’m likely to need a higher dose as my ovaries are going too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/06/2026 07:20

That’s really interesting @TheSereneRaven, I actually have quite a lot of my symptoms creeping back in now, specifically my joints are aching terribly. I had to fight to get HRT in the first place and I feel like they never really looked at getting me on the best schedule they just gave it to me to get rid of me.

This is so common they put me on sequi about 6 weeks after havibg my ovaries out because "if you've had a period in the last year you have to go on sequi" failing ro notice completely the whole surgical menopause situation

Take the prescription and off you pop

Featherhorn · 28/06/2026 07:59

I'm in the lowest dose of HRT, in the first three months. It's totally improved my loss of words mid-sentence, but other than that, nothing. Sometimes they fall off early, sometimes I forgot to change them on time.

WhereAreWeNow · 28/06/2026 08:07

I'm on estradot and notice I always sleep well the first night after a new patch.

Time to go back! I had a bit of a fight to start with but I was determined to try it and researched what I wanted to try and they were better with increases and changes once I was on it. I started just as we went into the first lockdown and have had so many issues getting my HRT over the years. There seems to be a shortage of Estradot again so I will need to go and see my Dr again tomorrow to try and get the gel prescribed. 🙄
