How to get rid of HRT patch glue remnants on skin?

Lostatsea2025 · 11/08/2025 08:51

I started HRT 3 weeks ago and change my patch twice weekly. When I remove it, it leaves a mark around the skin (seems to be tiny bits of fluff from my underwear mixed with the glue). Has anyone found a good way to get rid of these without scrubbing the top however many layers of skin away!? Thanks

Baby oil

Mine picks off easily and it's quite fun/satisfying to do so.

The netty things you can get for washing with rub it off nicely with shower gel.

Thank you for replies.

Unfortunately they’re on my arse so quite hard to see to pick/peel away! 😆

I did try the shower puff net thing but it took a lot of scrubbing and was a bit uncomfortable.

I have some nail varnish remover and baby oil I think so will try those today when I jump in the shower.

Acetone does it (this is one of the ingredients in most nail polish removers).

I use Zoff wipes (available from Amazon) - these are skin wipes that contain acetone. They feel gentler on my skin than nail polish remover. Be warned, though, they will also dissolve your nail polish if you're not careful!

I used a medical adhesive remover for all my devices as I find it's much gentler on my skin than some other options. Oil works OK but tents to leave me with a big area where I can't put a new site or it will just fall off.

Amazon has a load of different types, not super cheap but a spray bottle has lasted ages.

I’ve tried all the various suggestions over the years (baby oil, sports tape remover etc) and none worked on my skin. What does work is a bar of soap thoroughly lathered all over the sticky patch, then rub with a cotton flannel soaked in hot water - takes it off in no time.

Baby oil on a cotton wool pad or loo roll works for me.

I use either castor oil or Weleda skin food but any rich balm/oil will work.
Rub a small amount into your skin over the sticky residue while counting to 30 then just leave it. After a few hours it will come away easily by rubbing it or in the shower.
The extra benefit is that it moisturises your bottom 😁

They're on my arse too but I can reach them. By definition you can reach them because you put them there. But maybe I'm missing something. Hope the oils or remover work anyway.

White spirit is good at removing sticky label residue. It's got quite a distinctive smell though.

They use hand gel to help get the plasters off hairy arms in hospital. Might work.

HoppingPavlova · 11/08/2025 12:20

Acetone gets most stuff off.

Just don’t put the patch on an area you have used oil. It won’t stick
