Hi, OP. We've moved your thread to our Menopause forum now - hopefully you'll get a few more replies here.

No, sorry.
In a nutshell, blood tests are not used for peri meno if you're over 45 as they aren't accurate.
You can find the fertile range for FSH online and the one for post meno but it's not accurate in peri.

Thanks - yes I thought that was the case, I wondered why I'm having to do the two six weeks apart, as I didn't think it was very accurate.

Hi @Anddrumrollplease they do them 6 weeks apart to try and get the data at different stages of your menstrual cycle. They may not be accurate for diagnosing menopause but they can be helpful. Yours are showing your FSH low and within the normal and LS hormone is a little lower than the normal range. In 6 weeks time they might be different.
When I got mine done I was surprised to have a FSH of 73 and then 69 six weeks later. This is very high as if post meno, but I wasn’t post meno. I took mine to mean I was definitely in the throes of full peri and all my (many!) symptoms supported this. My GP tested me as I was on minipill so couldn’t judge anything by my periods as I wasn’t having any.
Good luck.

If you are over 45 they don't do blood tests anyway.
The gap between them- this is again if you're under 45 and trying to conceive or maybe having a premature or early menopause.

How old are you?

Anddrumrollplease · 09/12/2024 19:28

I’m 41

Bloods are sometimes used as part of a diagnosis in younger women, but they would done over a few months. My FSH levels tested a few times over the space of a year when I was 34 I think we're between 90+ and 8, the normal premenopausal level being under 10, I think one month at 8 was the only 'normal' I had. I didn't really have any symptoms other than skipping periods so testing was a factor in my premature ovarian failure diagnosis. A one off result can't be used as a definitive way to rule out being in peri but unfortunately some doctors still do this
