Just that really. Just saw an ad and wondered if they might help. Thanks lovely MNetters.

And have you tried B vitamins before?

OP posts:
JinglingSpringbells · 29/02/2024 17:41

What symptoms are you experiencing and hope to reduce?

Vit B is easily available in many foods but for vegans or vegetarians, some need B12 injections or supplements.https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-and-minerals/vitamin-b/

Find out about the types of B vitamins (including folic acid), such as what they do, how much you need and good sources of them.

It’s more whether anyone has found more benefit from the origin harmony supplement in comparison with B vitamins. But thanks anyway.

What kind of benefit- for what symptoms?

What do you hope to improve with supplements?

Cordeliacordyline · 29/02/2024 22:07

It claims to help with night sweats, sleep, mood, brain fog, low energy, weight gain around the tummy, vaginal dryness and loss of libido. Pretty much claims to sort out menopause!! Couple of good Reviews on TrustPilot but I thought some mumsnetters might have tried it.

Contains a few different supplements but also vitamin B6 which I reckon could give you a lot of the benefits any way. I always have more energy when I take B vitamins.

Not sure whether to pay for a month to see or not.

Most of these things are useless and if they were effective they'd be offered as prescription meds.

If you can't use HRT, for any reason, why not ask your GP to refer you to a specialist who can suggest alternatives?

Actually, I work for the NHS and it often takes a very long time for things to get well enough researched and then go through all the necessary checks and ratifications, so that is sometimes true and sometimes not. Sometimes, if there isn’t enough profit in it, pharmaceutical companies don’t invest in research. So I think you are perhaps being a bit too black and white in that advice, when actually, it is much more nuanced. I appreciate you taking the time to post though.

I also go the same as on instagram. I'm a very dubious . I take HRT and it's brilliant.

Hi, I have also saw an ad, then went on to look for some reviews but found none and also not fixing any link/website to buy it.
did you end up trying it? is it worth it?
can you share website where I can buy it. Many thanks

Cordeliacordyline · 09/03/2024 16:17

I haven’t tried it yet. Can’t bear to part with the money without hearing at least a few positive stories! Thanks for replying.

A friend recently recommended Total Harmony, as she has been taking it. She informs me that she really feels better. Like you I am still researching it. I had a sudden plunge into early menopause due to surgical removal of all the relevant organs. I can't take HRT but none of the GPs I have see over many years have suggested any alternatives, just been told that it will get better. So have gone through many Holland and Barratts remedies, and now considering Total Harmony as nothing has worked so far. Let me know if you hear more.

Gigimummy · 18/03/2024 11:31

I’m 7 weeks into using Total Harmony, I’ve noticed no improvement so I’m sending them back under the 60 day money back guarantee (I bought 6 months supply)

Cordeliacordyline · 18/03/2024 19:48

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. Thanks for posting. Hope you get your money back.

My sister and girlfriend have been taking it for 2 months. Very effective 👌
Just ordered another 6 bottles

SLAC78 · 21/03/2024 18:20

I have been using for a month. Don't get hot flushes but I get crazy night sweats. My HRT has reduced everything else, but not these. So I decided to try. Amazing!! A couple of much less intense night sweats, but I am getting whole nights' sleep! Yay! Different things work for different peeps!

AmberShark · 22/03/2024 21:21

There is evidence that soya isoflavones reduce menopausal symptoms.

Tried and know of others who have too and I stand by that. I worked with a scientist who went through dreadful menopausal symptoms and controlled them with significant reduction by consuming large amounts of soya. Black cohosh is also worth considering but always ensure you thoroughly research these products before you commence any supplements. Overall definitely worth a try.

Thanks. Glad it’s helped. Did you get brain fog? Any difference with that. This is by far the worst symptom for me as it impacts work.

Soya isoflavons are part of this range if I remember rightly. Plus some others and common vitamins.

I’ve noticed the price has jumped up for 6 bottles, now a few pence short of 200 quid!

😮

As more awareness of menopause is being raised, so the menopause market is becoming increasingly huge now with unregulated supplements making claims that are not backed up by any studies (ideally double blind and placebo controlled). We see an ad on sm (we are being specifically targeted by lucrative organisations) and it looks really plausible including a healthcare specialist for extra plausibility in making claims to help with this, that and the other.

I'm not denying that there can be a placebo effect for many and some women honestly feel that a supplement helps them but would suggest you DYOR - or do 'more' research before parting with money. For example look at studies on isoflavones that might help with menopause symptoms and what amount was taken to help - then compare with this product. I say this as someone who has taken collagen supplements to see if it helps with skin and hair (with low estrogen we lose collagen in menopause) however discovered later that collagen in supplement is not reliably absorbed into the body to help replenish what we have lost. Looking at improving diet can be a better option.

I've attached some information from the British Menopause Society website on alternative remedies. This is what they say in summary: "Few complementary and alternative treatment options have proven evidence of effectiveness, but although many options do not stand up to scrutiny from a robust and evidence-based perspective there will be individual women who will benefit from some of these treatments." https://thebms.org.uk/education/principles-practice-of-menopause-care/bms-ppmc-resources-toolkit/what-are-the-alternative-treatment-options-to-hrt/

You could also follow Prof. Joyce Harper on Twitter (she is helping put together a new menopausal programme for women in the UK). She is very much about options to help menopause symptoms for women who experience it and looking at the facts and claims around any treatment whether HRT, supplements or lifestyle measures.

If anyone thinks they might be deficient in anything (some deficiencies like iron and B12 can cause symptoms similar to menopause) it would be best to see a Dr for testing first rather than paying for what could be expensive wee.
