Evorel Patch on for less than an hour and has fallen off! Any tips for stickiness longevity.

Arghhh I cleaned and dried my skin on my thigh. Put my first patch on and held it for a bit. I was just lying on the bed with my old dog, turned round on my side for a bit and when I checked, it had come off and was stuck to my Joggers. Any tips for sticking? Apart from tape around the edges, I read they don't recommend it. X

Mine never come off now I’ve got oil the knack. There’s a particular spot of my body that works best for me, doesn’t have clothing interfering with it. I also swear by a little bottle of surgical spirit to clean the skin beforehand and it also wipes off the black sticky fluff mark left by the old patch. I warm the patch in my hands to make it skin temp and then keep my hand on it for a minute after I’ve put it on, which seems to help.

Blueuggboots · 16/07/2023 21:09

I shove it on my bum. Never had one fall off. I also have the tell tale fluffy residue!!!

WoofWoofBeachLife · 16/07/2023 22:41

@Denimdreams I definitely peeled the silver bits off, please don't tell me there's another bit to peel off 🙄 it's just the first one out a new box so I'm hoping I'll fit it properly in the morning. @Nat6999 oh no that's so frustrating.
@silverbubbles I think my mistake was not pulling the skin taut and it did wrinkle where I put it.
I'm glad the majority have said they have difficulty peeling them off the skin, means I need to prep more. X

I put them on the top of my thigh on a slightly hairy bit - I’m not that hurt up there but it gives the patch something to grip on to.

Northernmumoftwoboys · 16/07/2023 23:08

Make sure you always put it on a different place each time, as instructed (such as alternate bum cheeks!)

LotsOfThingsToThinkAbout · 16/07/2023 23:15

I've worn them for a few years and never had one fall off. I swim most day too. I put them on my bum. I dry after a shower then pop one on. I don't stretch my skin, I just place it on.

I wonder if you were just very unlucky and had a bad patch?

bellsbuss · 16/07/2023 23:19

I have evorel and nothing is making them fall off, they weld themselves to your skin

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 16/07/2023 23:21

Evoral ones are bloody massive. Mine were always coming off. GP has changed mine to estradot and they are so tiny in comparison.

Cocolapew · 16/07/2023 23:24

Mine never come off, I have to prise them off. I stick them on my bum, I don't pull the skin just whack it on.

seven201 · 16/07/2023 23:49

I had the opposite problem so shaved the area, to make it easier when time to get them off (as was like waxing for me). Worked too well and they came off. Have you shaved the area recently? I was told to wait 20 mins after a shower. I always did upper bum unless I'd run out of unsore areas there and then I'd try the upper thigh for a while.

MixedTocopherols · 16/07/2023 23:52

Upper slope of bum, maybe an inch below the knicker waistband line, is where I put mine and they do not budge. No special prep or hairdryers.

kinesethetic · 17/07/2023 02:49

There's a few old threads where people have had trouble with the everol sticking, OP, so don't worry. Some people even changed from patches because they haven't been able to get along with them.

I wear a leotard to exercise so can't stick them thigh area or they'd be seen. So bottom it is, but I do have trouble because of the sweating as I do a lot of high impact exercise. They mention this in the patches leaflet, that they might come off this way. Because of the sort of exercise I do I find it difficult to find an area to stick where they're not going to be stretched.

Shave upper bum area? I've never heard of that.

Roselilly36 · 17/07/2023 05:05

@ChocChipHandbag 😂 no idea either! Never used baby oil on my babies. But a bought a bottle as that is what my GP recommends to remove the adhesive. You can also buy a medical adhesive remover, but about £20, baby oil was a far cheaper option 😂

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 17/07/2023 05:06

I have been using these for 4 weeks. Delighted not to have the side effects of the gel, but I'm also struggling with them falling off, plus am covered in scuzzy outlines and scabby bits where I've managed to scrub too hard. Was going to post to ask how to remove the lines, so shall try the useful tips. OP - maybe it's just getting used to finding the right place or maybe we do have a dodgy lot - some have stayed put, but none have been super stuck and have been v loose by swap day.

seven201 · 17/07/2023 07:01

@kinesethetic I only tried shaving there out of desperation. My upper bum area isn't hairy! I don't shave my thighs either, but I don't know if some people do, hence checking OP hasn't as it made a massive difference.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 17/07/2023 07:54

I haven't shaved that area. Number 2 patch is on, I blasted the patch with heat and it stuck well, blasted it again whilst on and held it. I've got it on my hip area because I sweat a lot from my lower back and was thinking it might get a bit sweaty on my upper bum. Not a nice thought sorry 🙂
I'll report back with its progress. I hope it was a one off because I just want to put it on and forget about it.

I see! Grin

GenieGenealogy · 17/07/2023 08:01

This is weird, mine are Evorel too and they stuck like buggery, sometimes it really hurts to take them off when they run out.

This! I had Evorel patches for a while and they stuck TOO well! I switched to Estradot as I am allergic to the glue on the Evorel and did have trouble with them on holiday when I was in and out of the pool and sea. I always found that the glue came off from the Evorel patches with baby oil and a bit of rubbing and peeling. Single use wipes are never a good idea.

Rishisrightfoot · 17/07/2023 08:02

You don’t need to prep the area. Just make sure not post-bath or any lotion applied. Good luck.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 21/07/2023 14:22

Update, the last 2 patches have been stuck like gorilla glue 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for everyone's input.

EverySporkIsSacred · 26/07/2023 15:47

Anyone else tried coconut oil instead of baby oil? I happened to have some in and it smells nicer. Used a cotton wool pad with it to get the sticky patches off. As PP have said you still need to rub a bit bit not too badly.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE · 26/07/2023 15:50

I have been on Evorel for 14 years and have never had one fall off or not stick. They are really sticky. It goes on my lower hip, I alternate each time and remove the residue with baby oil.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 26/07/2023 17:58

I used clinique take the day off to remove the glue and it came off well. I must have had something on my skin for the first one not to stick as they've been great now.
