Evorel Patch on for less than an hour and has fallen off! Any tips for stickiness longevity.

Arghhh I cleaned and dried my skin on my thigh. Put my first patch on and held it for a bit. I was just lying on the bed with my old dog, turned round on my side for a bit and when I checked, it had come off and was stuck to my Joggers. Any tips for sticking? Apart from tape around the edges, I read they don't recommend it. X

How did you clean ? And do you have body lotion on near it?
I’ve had Evorel patches 5 years and have only had one fall off in that time.
Best to put it on before you shower so your skin isn’t too warm. It sticks better then.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 16/07/2023 19:23

That's good to know, nope no body lotion. Just washed the area with normal soap and water and dried and left it a while before I put it on. Where do you normally put your patch? X

I read somewhere (possibly here) to warm it in your hand slightly before sticking it down.
I put it on an area of skin that doesn't move much or stretch with movement if that makes sense.

I've only been using them a few weeks but had one or two come off after exercising and in the bath. So lots of trial and error.

Denimdreams · 16/07/2023 19:32

I put them on my bum, knickers over the top.
I literally have to yank to get it off, it sticks so well

Neverthecornflakegirl · 16/07/2023 19:32

Try putting it on and then using a hairdryer on it for a minute or so - I’ve found that works

Podcats · 16/07/2023 19:34

Yeah... Bum works way better than thigh for longevity. Make sure you are really dry. Warm the patch up a wee bit in between your palms before peeling off the silver bit. Pants on straight away.

Podcats · 16/07/2023 19:34

...now you just need to worry about getting the sticky patches off 🤣

Spudlet · 16/07/2023 19:40

Hmmm, I don’t know specifically about patches, but I do kineseotaping a lot for my job. I always clean the area thoroughly with surgical spirit before applying, and find this really helps with sticking. You can also get special sprays to apply before taping for extra stick - although of course you would need to check if it’s suitable for use with an HRT patch before using it! Some types create a protective layer over the skin which is great for tape, but less so when you actually want the stuff in the patch to reach the skin…

WoofWoofBeachLife · 16/07/2023 20:11

@Podcats 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Right it's going on my bum, there's plenty of area to choose a different section when changing 😂

I'll try the hand warming and the Hairdryer too. @Spudlet I'm going to clean the area with an alcohol wipe and dry it.
Thank you @escript I thought oh here we go, trust it to fall off with me and its the first one.

Thank you everyone. 😊

Mine are the same, I've tried everything, including sitting on the unwrapped packet to warm the patch glue for 15 minutes.

Silly question
You are peeling the backing off?
Mine stick like glue and I run, swim, cycle and shower/ bath twice a day.

ChocChipHandbag · 16/07/2023 20:35

This is weird, mine are Evorel too and they stuck like buggery, sometimes it really hurts to take them off when they run out. I wear mine in the side of my things. I did notice once that I put one on a bit too far round the front of my thigh and it was in a place where the skin sort of wrinkled when I moved, which sort of made it work itself off.

My biggest issue is getting rid of the black sticky marks they leave, I have to rub my skin raw to get rid of them.

Make sure the skin is dry and be careful not to touch the sticky side at all, also make sure it is nice and taut and flat.

Maybe you got a bad batch?

ChocChipHandbag · 16/07/2023 20:35

Aargh, typos. I wear mine on the side of my thighs.

ChocChipHandbag · 16/07/2023 20:37

I wouldn’t put it on a too-fleshy bit of the bum. You need a firm ish place.

sheeplikessleep · 16/07/2023 20:38

Is there anything to get the black fluffy atickycotton off after peeling it off? I have to scratch my skin raw to get it off 😬

Denimdreams · 16/07/2023 20:42

Zoff wipes get the sticky stuff off

silverbubbles · 16/07/2023 20:42

I wear mine high up on front of thigh where skin does not crease and where they don't crinkle from sitting at a desk all day.
I bath everyday and also put the new one on after a bath but I don't moisturise or apply body oil.

Never had one fall off, they stick really well. I think you had a dodgy patch.

ChocChipHandbag · 16/07/2023 20:47

Live scenes, am ordering Zoff wipes as had never heard of them!

Baby oil on a cotton pad works perfectly for me ... still need to rub a bit but always get it off!

sheeplikessleep · 16/07/2023 20:49

Ooh I will try Zoff and baby oil, thankyou

Roselilly36 · 16/07/2023 20:49

Tip for removing the glue from the patch, baby oil on a cotton wool pad, works well. Never had any problems with adhesion at all, perhaps it’s a faulty batch?

fetchacloth · 16/07/2023 20:52

Your skin needs to be completely dry before application.
The best time to put on the patch is about 30 minutes after a shower, not before, as your skin might still be damp.
If the patch comes off or peels away at the edge, try using a couple of strong sticking plasters in an X formation to keep it on for the required number of days.

Hmm, what is baby oil actually for? DS is only 6 so not that Iong since he was a baby, but I can’t think of any time when I thought “I need to oil this infant” 😀. So have never had it in the house.

Passthecake30 · 16/07/2023 20:54

I’ve not had that issue, I wait at least an hour or so after a shower, never wash my skin first. I wear them under my knickers at the front, kind of under my hip bones. I’m too cack-handed to stick them on my bum.

I have trouble with the glue marks, and have squares of decreasing darkness over my last patch sites

Passthecake30 · 16/07/2023 20:55

has anyone tried olive oil rather than baby oil?
