Hi all, due to start utrogestan tonight. I know it says to take on an empty stomach, can I still drink water, as get thirsty during nighttime. I’m also worrying about the dizziness, is this bad? As it will make my anxiety through the roof xx

Of course you can drink water. I take mine before bed but not sure my stomach's ever empty 😂. Have been on it for years and always been fine.

LisaX75 · 10/05/2023 19:26

Did you experience dizziness? I’m just worrying about side effects now 🤣 I’m a nightmare really lol xx

Floofydawg · 10/05/2023 19:33

Nope, no dizziness.

utterraiin · 10/05/2023 19:35

I didn't actually even notice I'd taken it except maybe I got off to sleep a bit more easily so don't worry

spartanrunnergirl · 10/05/2023 19:36

I take it any old way now... I aim for an empty stomach but don't always succeed. I sleep v well on it and no side effects. Hope it goes well!!

I've never done this... you just shove it up?! What's the benefit of doing it this way? Bypasses stomach I suppose?

LisaX75 · 10/05/2023 19:37

How do you feel in the morning? Any grogginess? X

OP posts:
utterraiin · 10/05/2023 19:39

Nope, absolutely no different at all. I was anxious about taking it too as I'd seen all these side effects. The only thing I got was lots of spots from hrt and it didn't work for me but no dizziness or tiredness which is annoying as I was hoping I'd sleep better!

adriftabroad · 10/05/2023 19:40

Bypass liver and more effective and no side effects. There is an argument for less risk of breast cancer I believe.

We do it in Europe.

adriftabroad · 10/05/2023 19:41

yes, just shove it up!

LisaX75 · 10/05/2023 19:42

🤣🤣 brillliant!! Lol

Blimey! I had no idea you could do this with Utrogesten. I get dizziness, headaches and heartburn and a burning sensation down below so it might help

Hrtfirstimer · 16/05/2023 20:49

Do you do it with the capsules that you would normally take orally. Or do you have to have the vaginal ones prescribed?

adriftabroad · 17/05/2023 07:32

Mine are white "soft capsules, oral or vaginal use" company is SEID I think.

Said the same on both 100mg and 200mg.

SamR36 · 22/05/2023 13:15

I use it vaginally as can't cope with side effects orally, does anyone using it vaginally have a burning sensation the day after? Im currently waiting to start vaginal oestrogen (forgot the name) 🙄

Gooseysgirl · 22/05/2023 13:21

Wow I had no idea it could be inserted directly into the fanjo!!! I've been taking it just before I go to sleep as it was making me dizzy if I took it earlier in the day.

Gooseysgirl · 22/05/2023 13:22

I suppose it would help if I actually READ the instructions 😆

SamR36 · 22/05/2023 13:29

Tbf. I take it vaginally against my Gp's advice, as apparently not licensed to take this way in the uk i believe. But i couldnt take orally.
So after reading here that so many take it vaginally after being advised to by their meno consultants i just went with it.

LisaX75 · 25/05/2023 19:14

No problem, glad to help. 😊

Identifyingasadolphin · 27/05/2023 08:52

For ease, these applicators are useful.
(others are the wrong size to hold the Utrogestan)
