The pharmacist said 2 sprays was the same as the 4 pumps of gel I had recently upped to. Would that be correct? Is it as effective?
Thanks

You can check on the patient leaflet as to the amount you need to use.

4 pumps of gel is 3mgs.

It ought to tell you on the spray what amount of estrogen is in one spray.

InexperiencedDogOwner · 07/02/2022 09:28

Each spray is 1.5mg so yes would be equivalent

BigButtons · 07/02/2022 13:50

Thanks. I am confused as on some forums people say it is weaker than the gel but I can’t work out that can be possible if, looking at the figures,2 sprays does indeed equate to 4 pumps. How can something double the strength be deemed weaker?
The leaflet also says it is for post meno women only- I don’t think I am post meno yet as I still have the occasional bleed from my own cycle. Still I suppose the spray is better than nothing.
It is annoying I was just getting my gel dose right and stopping the night sweats. I am hoping 2 sprays will have the same effect.

Exactly.
I think some things people post are just odd.

There is an ongoing debate about the different design and colour of labels on the bottles of gel and how it's 'weaker'. I've used gel for so long that the bottles have changed many times (used to be a really classy white and GOLD!)

The only for women post meno is a manufacturing/leaflet problem - it says that on loads of HRT and it's just wrong!

BigButtons · 07/02/2022 15:40

@JinglingHellsBells thanks. Thought I was going mad.
The spray is a lot more user friendly. I get fed up when I order repeats from my go though as they always give three months of utrogestan but only 2 of estrogen just because my original script from 3 years ago start me on one pump of gel. I keep asking them to amend it☹️

I was keen for Lenzetto. I’d read it dried faster than the gel. However, I also read that it isn’t usually on GP lists of locally listed prescription items, so they have to hand write the prescription and it puts them off as the gel is listed.

Since I got the gel, I’ve also read that one of the downsides of spray is that when the canister runs low, one squirt only releases a small amount so it’s harder to know if you’re getting an accurate dosage. I guess that is often the case with sprays of all types. I guess it could also be the case with gel pump dispenser too, but as you can see the gel in the palm of your hand, you’re more likely to be able to keep pumping until what looks like the right amount comes out. The other thing with sprays, is it can be easy to miss!

I’d be interested to hear any other feedback about Lenzetto as I wouldn’t. Mind trying it.

How many months worth were you given out of interest?

If something is out of stock, you can ask ways ask for the prescription so you can go elsewhere with it. Realise you can’t do that now, but in future you could.

Yes annoying if oestrogen and Utrogestan out of sync in terms of quantities. I’ve had the same….enough Utrogestan for 3 months, but probably only enough oestrogen for 6 weeks. And then if you’re paying forprescriotiins you need to get more at extra cost.

I plan in future to be very precise with regard to checking the quantities that are being prescribed each time,NIC speaking to the. GP or nurse and if not and the wrong amount is on the script, to send it back for correction, rather than just getting lesser amounts and then needing another prescription before the 3 or 6 months is up.

BigButtons · 07/02/2022 20:18

@WombatChocolate you can’t misfire withj the spray as you hold it against you arm. It has a sort of cupped edge around it if that makes sense?
They gave me enough for 59 days - not even 2 months. I have been asking them to readjust the script for a while and have now filled in an e consult form with them explain officially what is happening so hopefully gp will call and it will be sorted . I found with the gel that when you got to the end it only gave out a little blob.
If this works then that’ll be great as it dries within seconds and no rubbing on!

Meant 50 sprays

OP posts:
Melassa · 07/02/2022 20:27

I use Lenzetto, I’m not in the U.K. and it tends to be prescribed more than gels, as the latter take ages to dry apparently and are not practical for busy women (never tried them, just hearsay from gynae). It’s fine, it has 54 sprays in so you do need up make a note as it’s not too obvious when nothing is sprayed. There’s a box to tick on the side of the box but I use an online calendar. I spray it on my inner thigh, I used to do my arm but found it easier having bare legs while it absorbed. I don’t think it makes a difference though.

WombatChocolate · 07/02/2022 20:31

Thank you. I’m only on my first prescription.
I’m going to book my GP review for a couple of weeks before it will probably run out to be on the safe side. At my first meeting the GP said if it all goes okay. I can have a prescription for 6 months, but we will see what happens as no doubt it won’t be the same GP when I have my next appointment.

I think going down the contact them via their electronic contact messaging is a good idea. If it’s in writing, it’s harder for them to ignore you.
The other thing. I think that can help, especially if the prescription goes direct to a pharmacy, is ringing the surgery before going to collect prescription, to check exactly what is included and if it’s wrong, asking for it to be changed at that point. If you only find out the. Amount is too low once you’re at the pharmacy and they’ve bagged it up, it’s too easy to just accept it and walk away with less than you need. As you say though, getting the prescription amounts corrected to the right amount is the key and it usually requires a GP to do that.

I’ve found with several things, that they now direct you to the pharmacist or a nurse practitioner for an appointment…..but that they then either can’t prescribe, or prescribe the wrong quantity or something isn’t quite right, so you end up calling the surgery, but the receptionist can’t help and says they will speak to either GP or nurse or whoever, but things don’t get properly resolved and corrected until you have an appointment with the GP themselves either virtually or in person. I’ve sometimes had 3 appointments with different people before the issue is resolved by the GP and if I’d seen them in the first place, I wouldn’t have needed 3 appointments. So now, I request the appointment with GP and won’t be directed to someone else unless it’s just a blood test/blood pressure etc. Anything that might need a new prescription or an updated one, or require discussion about a condition…I think you always get further faster with the GP.

Hi just wondering what people think about the strength of Lenzetto spray??, have changed from 50mg estrodol patch to 2 x lenzetto sprays and not sure if like for like??, trying to work out if I need more as I can't sleep, did 75mg patches and that tipped me over the edge - anyone tried half a spray and if so how did you do it???

coloradoqueen · 08/03/2022 08:28

I just wanted to say that if there's a shortage of oestrogel at your pharmacy, it's worth ringing round.

My usual one said they'd had very little stock for months and couldn't see themselves getting any in soon, another said there was a manufacturing issue and I had no chance of getting some. Third pharmacy "yes we had 100 bottles delivered this week".

JinglingHellsBells · 08/03/2022 08:32

As far as I know, there is not a supply issue, according to the manufacturers.

The manufacturers seem say it's more about the pharmacy accessing stock at warehouses so maybe push the pharmacy to use other suppliers?

BigButtons · 08/03/2022 08:57

I think I prefer the spray. It’s so much easier to use. 2 sprays mostly does the job.

I was given Lenzetto at Christmas due to the Oestrogel not being available too. I loved how easy it was to apply, but could not get on with it at all. I started to feel nauseous, and hot sweats and flushes returned even when I upped the dose. I returned to Oestrogel which has settled things down for me again.

Gravelly · 24/04/2022 19:23

My Estradiol gel was replaced with Lenzetto when they ran short 2 months ago, and despite me using more and more of the Lenzetto spray, all my symptoms ramped up. The heart palpitations were horrendous, hot flushes, and my mood and anxiety became really hard to handle. It took alot of ringing GP/Pharmacy practitioners to get them to re-prescribe the Estradiol 0.06% gel, but eventually they did, and after driving around a few pharmacies, I managed to find it.
BUT... I've just gone back on my GP's online repeat prescription ordering and the Estradiol 0.06% gel section is greyed out, and only the Lenzetto is tickable.
ARGH!!!
I don't know why the Lenzetto doesn't work for me, but I'm already feeling anxious about not being able to get the gel. It's really affecting my life.

Where are you applying your Lenzetto?
I’ve also had my Oestrogel replaced with Lenzetto. My GPs instructions were to apply it “below the waist”. After a few days I had a weekend-long hot flush and my anxiety levels shot back up through the roof. I noticed that on the leaflet it is supposed applied on the lower, inner arm area, so I did that and things improved. Perhaps it is more easily absorbed if applied there, so you should try this if you were, like me, putting it somewhere else.

Gravelly · 25/04/2022 16:41

I was applying it on my forearms as per the instructions. I don't know what was going wrong, but it really didn't seems to work for me.

BigButtons · 25/04/2022 17:26

A few months into to using it and I don’t much like it. I find the spray applicator gives very inconsistent dose, sometimes a big circle and sometimes a small one. I am having to use 6 sprays a day just to keep the night sweats down to one a night.

Strange stuff is lenzetto.
The ease of use is fabulous.
How effective it is and how long it lasts, is debatable. I think it wears off after a few hours?

BigButtons · 25/04/2022 18:46

@Runaround50 I agree. Ease of use: fabolous
effectiveness: no- not good
god knows what dose I am actually getting each day🧐

I've also been moved onto Lenzetto by my GP because of a lack of the gel and I would switch back to the gel in a heartbeat if I could. I've found the spray easy to apply but pretty quickly some of my symptoms returned, aching joints, terrible sleep, and anxiety, it feels a real step back. The hot flushes have not returned though so it's doing something but it does feel as if I'm on a budget range of HRT rather than the good stuff!

Runaround50 · 25/04/2022 19:16

Dubious, I agree. Definitely feels like the " smart price/ basics " of HRT!

It's a shame as it's SO easy to use.
Just a weak product I think.

Melassa · 26/04/2022 12:45

I’ve been on 2 sprays of Lenzetto since last summer and am fine on it. Hot flushes, perennial anger and sleep problems pretty much disappeared after a month. My leg hair is finer even! Maybe I’m just someone who thrives on low-ish oestrogen, or maybe I’ve not yet hit meno with a vengeance and hell is yet to come 🤷🏻‍♀️

SmiledWtherisingsun · 26/04/2022 14:48

I like it.
