magic tips to remove residue from HRT patches?

I have been on Evorel patches for a week, they are super-sticky and definitely aren't going anywhere when attached.

But pulling them off leaves a sticky border around the edge of where the patch was which is really, really had to remove and attracts all sorts of fluff and fibres from inside trousers and underwear. Have tried scrubbing with soap to little effect apart from making my skin sore.

There must be a magic tip or trick to dissolve this stuff easily??

Hand sanitiser works well on a cloth or flannel. I keep a massive bottle of the cheapest hand sanitiser just for this purpose & to remove sticky tape marks from things like windows when ds has attached his Green Party posters.

Works for me too! x

Bekabex · 06/10/2023 08:32

I hate this and have tried lots of different things, but the last time I changed my patch I tried rubbing the sticky side of the old patch over the marks and they just disappeared!! Couldn’t believe it!! Will try again next time!!

Beamur · 06/10/2023 08:35

Baby oil works. It takes a few rubs but then slides off easily.
I've heard, but not tried, using the patch as Bekabex suggests works well too.

JanBlue · 06/10/2023 08:37

I use baby oil and a cotton wool ball.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 06/10/2023 08:39

Medical adhesive remover - it's what people use to take stoma bags off, and as you can imagine, those buggers are designed to really stick!

It comes either as a small aerosol, or individually wrapped wipes.

Make sure you wash it off afterwards or the next patch might not stick properly.

Wolfcub · 06/10/2023 08:48

Any sort of oil at all will work. I put some body oil on a cotton pad and wipe it over the residue before I have a shower. The residue comes off in the shower.

olderbutwiser · 06/10/2023 08:59

Baby oil on a reusable cotton pad works for me. But the stuff my waxing lady uses before waxing me is even better.

I have just started HRT patches, I removed a patch this morning and rubbed the patch over the residue and it removed it easily. Try that works a treat

bestbefore · 06/11/2023 16:52

I just scratch it off on the bath or shower with water. Quite satisfying

RachelMCL · 06/11/2023 20:05

Exactly! That's what I do. No need for messy oil or anything else. So glad someone else does this.

Fraserli · 06/11/2023 20:07

Use the patch you take off and rub it over the sticky residue it takes it of no problem

bigbadbarry · 06/11/2023 20:09

Just rub it with the old patch. Works a treat

Heyhoherewegoagain · 06/11/2023 20:11

I just use Nivea body moisturiser-no need for anything special or abrasive

CambridgeLass · 11/11/2023 09:42

I use nail varnish remover. Two swipes just before I get into the shower, which rinses off any residue.

Blushingm · 11/11/2023 13:58

Medical adhesive removal spray

rainbowsparkle28 · 11/11/2023 14:07

Baby oil.

oranga · 11/11/2023 14:07

I use body oil to remove it - bio oil or when I'm feeling flush nuxe oil. It does the trick!

oranga · 11/11/2023 14:08

My friend tells me that wafting the patch in the air before applying it stops any residue from forming and it works around fifty percent of the time

GotNewHair · 11/11/2023 14:09

My husband just used a green pan scrubber. Effective. Not romantic as such.

Baby oil and a cotton wool pad definitely works. That’s what I use.

I was going to suggest baby oil too

MrsGMichael · 11/11/2023 14:11

Use the patch you take off to rub off the sticky marks. Quick and it really works.

Blanketpolicy · 11/11/2023 14:22

My niece gets medical adhesive remover on prescription from Dr for her stoma, but you can also buy. She was offered spray or wipes and prefers the wipes as they are less messy.

Otherwise if it is just removing the residual stickiness, rather than protecting your skin during removal, something oil based usually works for plasters.

NorthernSpirit · 11/11/2023 14:34

I use the same patches.

Nail varnish remover.

ellieboo9 · 11/11/2023 15:36

Whatever is in the wipes that come with Veet wax strips will surely work!
