Estrogel and Utrogestan

Help! Ive been taking Estrogel and Utrogestan for 7 months almost and I still feel shocking. My GP advised me to up my pumps from two per day to four and to use the Utrogestan vaginally to avoid a reaction (i get v depressed using it orally). Ive been doing this combo and now been told by the gp to have ten days off the Utro and 15 days on. Im still feeling shocking. I paid to have a Zoom call with a specialist who was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Ive had more blood tests to check my oestrogen levels, I had previous tests to check my testosterone (which was very low but tolerable). I thought id at least be feeling better 7 months in but the ability to get through the day without taking a nap has gone, not good when I work full time running my own business and have two kids under 12. Please help.

@SJCoxon Estrogel and Utrogestan. the Estrgek is literally a gel and the utrogestan is a gel capsule that you can take oral or vaginally as lots of women do. I rewetted it form my GP and they had no hesitation is prescribing. If you get a chance listen to Louise Newson podcasts, she will open your eyes to HRT.

That's what I'm starting today, I'm glad to hear it's the gold standard!

Thank you all for your messages.
I have divicular disease( bowel problems) so have to becareful of pain medication. Anyway I brave phoned doctor. So I will be taking the Utrogestan and a weekly estrogen patch. Does anyone know if it is the synthetic progesterone causes the abdominal pain. I am grateful to you all. Xx

DeeleysMum · 25/04/2021 12:03

@SJCoxon synthetic progesterone is the one you're most likely to be intolerant to, it can cause lots of issues. I had to stop it as it made me suicidal as well as causing exacerbated digestive issues. Good luck, I hope you get it sorted xx

Thank you @DeeleysMum, sorry to hear that the progesterone made you feel that way. Not liking this menopause malarkey. There is one positive my depression has lifted, I was rock bottom and I couldn’t lift myself up which I can normally.
Take care of yourself 🥰

Hello. Would like to ask plse. Just change HRT to Evorel 25 and Utrogestan 100mg. As the femseven Conti gave me awful abdominal pain. Have any ladies been prescribed the new HRT, have you had any issues or positive results. Thank you Sarah😊

girlofthenorth · 29/04/2021 08:45

@SJCoxon I am about to change over from my sequi patch so will let you know how I get on.
This is a great thread thank you for starting it 0P I was wondering more or less the same thing.

I have been taking the patches for five years and haven't had a period for all that time. I'm just going to be going onto the gel and progesterone tablets but actually looks like vaginally would be better. I actually get on really well with the patches but anything that has less risk of breast cancer I would prefer.

Hello lovely ladies on mumsnet.
I don’t usually say how I feel. Have been on evorel and Utrogestan. Is it normal to feel rock bottom and tearful. As that is how I am feeling. Thought I would try a different progesterone. I don’t think it agreeing with me. Have any of you ladies had this experience with this cocktail
(Wish is was a mojo) of hrt. Thank you 😊

Going by your previous posts, you started this around the 29 April? So that's only about 10 days ago.

I'm sorry you feel upset but it's honestly not long enough to try any HRT. Drs say 3 months then reassess.

The moods etc you have now may be menopause- not the HRT.

I assume you ar e post menopaus if you have been given the dose of 100mgs Utrogestan every day? If not, you need the sequential regime which is using gel ever day and Utrogestan 12 days a month.

SJCoxon · 08/05/2021 02:01

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells for your reply. I have spoken to the doctor, I am going back onto femseven conti, I didn’t give it long enough, the only reason I tried Utrogestan and the evorel patch, I had such awful abdominal pain for two weeks. I am post menopausal haven’t had a period for two years.
This may sound ridiculous, I can honestly tell this difference with the Utrogestan as I forgot to take it and felt fine when I hadn’t taken it, your reply and support means a lot thank you. 😌

SJCoxon · 08/05/2021 02:05

How are you getting on @girlofthenorth. I have been struggling tbh. I am going back onto femseven conti, I just didn’t give it long enough, the only reason I changed was due to the abdominal pain. take care Smile

SJCoxon · 08/05/2021 02:10

My husband has upset me this evening, by saying you are all over the place and back to being depressed, and need to get myself sorted. I know I need too and I am trying, I don’t like feeling or being like this. 😥

JinglingHellsBells · 08/05/2021 08:13

@SJCoxon Your husband is really out of order. If he carries on like that you need to shange him not just your HRT! He ought to be supportive and understanding. Has he always been so callous and unhelpful? Don't put up with that kind of emotional abuse.

Oblomov21 · 08/05/2021 09:56

Watching with interest.
I too was apparently changed to the 'gold standard' but am not sure about it, so my GP has just referred me to the HRT specialists, so presumably that's good?

SJCoxon · 08/05/2021 20:27

Hello @JinglingHellsBells just thought you would like to know, I have had an apology from hubby.
Thank you for your support 😊

SJCoxon · 08/05/2021 20:28

I hope the specialist helps you @Oblomov2. Take care ☺️
