Peri mood swings

My PMT has developed into utter rage in the last few years. I think I'm peri-menopausal (46).
My GP gave me femoston, but I don't think progesterone is calming me down!
Is there a better HRT for mood swings? She also offered the pill or anti-depressants. I'm really not keen on ADs.
Any suggestions please?

@NeurotrashWarrior thank you. I'm not good. My relationship suddenly ended. We don't live together. I'm alone feeling absolutely crushed and haven't stopped crying for 2 days. Pandemics, perimenopause and being dumped really are the crappiest combination.

KnucklesMcGinty · 10/04/2020 16:34

Ahh, sorry @Mumteedum. Flowers
Can you watch some mindless television to take your mind off it a bit?

Thank you @KnucklesMcGinty. Will try. Everyone on this thread is so kind x

KnucklesMcGinty · 14/04/2020 14:53

@Mumteedum how're you doing?

@KnucklesMcGinty thank you for asking. You're so kind. I'm a bit up and down. Still crying every day but it's not hormones for once. I'm doing a bit better than I was I guess. Hope you and yours are OK in all this?

KnucklesMcGinty · 25/04/2020 10:56

I reached a new low last week. Considering a contraceptive pill from GP to help with mood swings. Vit B, taurine & magnesium not enough now. Sad

Awh @KnucklesMcGinty sorry to hear you're not doing great. Maybe it is worth considering. My gp I feel can't be bothered now.

I am still dealing with end of relationship so I'm just upset anyway. NOt sure what I can out down to hormones just now!

KnucklesMcGinty · 25/04/2020 19:02

That's the thing isn't it @Mumteedum. It all feels perfectly reasonable during the moment, it's only when your mood changes again that you realise that's not actually how you feel. It's completely impossible to separate your true feelings from your hormones.
Gaahhh!

Exactly. I feel half bonkers half the time Hmm I think it's been that way since periods began really. Was crap having pmt. Was worse in the pill. Was awful when pregnant. And now it's awful in peri.

And dunno where it all got me. Still left on the fecking shelf unloved.

Mumteedum · 26/04/2020 10:58

Sorry for self pitying post yday. Maybe hormones are playing up after all. Trying to give head a wobble today. Hope everyone is doing OK today.

KnucklesMcGinty · 02/05/2020 07:29

@Mumteedum how are you today?

Mumteedum · 02/05/2020 12:44

Hi @KnucklesMcGinty. I'm not too bad today thanks. Hope you are OK too. I should be in the ravages of pmt. My app thinks I should have come on today. Ha! Idiot app! Got one ot6two physical signs but no weepiness or anxiety today. Maybe the pattern has shifted again to keep me on my toes!

I am bluddy knackered though. Hope everyone is managing OK. Flowers

Mumteedum · 02/05/2020 12:45

Did you decide about the pill @KnucklesMcGinty?

KnucklesMcGinty · 02/05/2020 22:17

I want to give it a go, but can't face the current GP appointment system. It's difficult enough to get an appointment with a sensible GP at the best of times.

I have been "ranty" lately. I had been reluctant to start using my HRT patches because of the risks. However, I decided I need to do something about the rants and my other symptoms and have just started using the patches.

I don't know how long the HRT patches take to work but I'm already feeling like my old self. Psychological do you think?

BooseysMom · 11/05/2020 20:37

Hi, just found this thread. How's everyone feeling?
I'm getting really severe pmt and mood swings which last most of the month! I was almost suicidal so phoned the gp and was prescribed antidepressants but i didn't take them as the very next day the mood lifted. I now have started AF and the cramp is bad but my mood is like i'm on riding on the crest of a wave! The trouble is what goes up must come down so i expect to crash any day now. It's a roller coaster isn't it? Also get the fatigue and body and headaches. I have to stop half way up the stairs. It's like climbing a mountain!
I've started taking Menopace Max so will see if that helps.

KnucklesMcGinty · 15/05/2020 10:21

Morning everyone! How are you all doing? I've not been very good recently about taking my supplements, but I feel pretty calm (apart from homeschooling which might kill me!). I think as well as monthly cycles, I have another irregular cycle which lasts several months, because of peri. Oh I dunno! I think to make any sense of it you'd have to test a whole raft of hormone levels every day for about a year. Let us know how you're all doing.

@KnucklesMcGinty.. i'm not the op but found your post as i have this thread on my watch list. Well i've just started taking Menopace Max but keep forgetting to take them as it says take with a main meal and i'm used to taking vitamins in the morning!
I seem to be fairly level atm but it's so up and down.. i'm all over the place!
How are you? What supplements are you taking? I did go to the gp about HRT but she prescribed antidepressants which i didn't take so told her i was ok the day after I spoke to her! She said i can try HRT if i want and to monitor my symptoms.
Hopefully won't have to have it but we'll see.Hmm

cleaningisboring · 24/05/2020 21:32

I've been using HRT patches and Provera tablets. I feel better and less fatigued. I hope the HRT patches are still available for my repeat prescription.
