Elleste Duet Conti problems with supply.

Is anyone else having problems getting hold of these tablets? I’ve tried everywhere and just can’t get them.
I’ve now got to see if the doctor will give me something similar so have to go back to have my blood pressure checked. Very annoying as I was getting on well with this brand.
Anyone have advice for something similar?

Hmm indeed JinglingHellsBells Its a small rural dispensing practice. The 'head' GP rules with a rod of iron. The female locum GP I saw just rolled her eyes too. Hopefully head honcho will be retiring soon.

WobblyLondoner · 20/05/2019 21:35

I've just posted about this issue - wish I'd found this post first. So the supply of Elleste Duet is still a problem, my chemist seemed none the wiser as to what the issue was.

I've got a month to work out what to do - am really hacked off as I'd only started ED recently because my previous brand was discontinued.

thenightsky · 20/05/2019 22:12

WobblyLondoner They should offer you an alternative. I'm on my 2nd month of Novofem now. TBH its not too bad so far.

Aky42 · 30/05/2019 05:22

I've swapped from elleste to kliovance. I was having normal periods. I've just come on again for the second time since starting new tablets. Horrendous stomach ache headache and waking up early, feeling cold. Does anyone know if Elleste supply problems are sorted? I've been taking Elleste for 2 years without any problems.

thenightsky · 30/05/2019 19:18

Well, after posting that I was liking my replacement, I now seem to be having random bleeding on day 15 Confused

ECS0007 · 30/05/2019 21:40

I posted on here about 2 months ago about how awful I was feeling since being switched to Kliofem. I've persisted with it and the side effects are setting down. No more hot flushes, night sweats reducing in frequency and temperature 😂 and I feel my anxiety levels also reducing. I'm going to keep going with it for now and see how things go. Just keep swimming ladies!!! 🥰

thenightsky · 30/05/2019 22:08

ECS0007 That's reassuring, thank you. I think I'm going to persist too, despite the random bleeding. I must admit there are some good things with the replacement, such as no more swollen ankles and I've dropped a few pounds after months of trying and getting nowhere.

ineedaholidaynow · 30/05/2019 22:18

I am waiting to find out whether my doctor will authorise a replacement HRT medication, only have a couple of Elleste tablets left. Have finally got my hormones in a reasonable place and they are going to go to pot again.

ECS0007 · 31/05/2019 07:37

@ineedaholidaynow hopefully your GP can sort this soon. I wanted to let you know that my surgery "fannied" around trying to sort out my new treatment and of course the chemist didn't stock it. I ended up with no meds for over a week. You are not supposed to stop HRT without being weaned off it gradually. I was so unwell from having no meds. Keep on at your GP to get this sorted!!! Good luck!

ineedaholidaynow · 01/06/2019 16:08

ECS think I am going to have the same issues as you. Doctor prescribed a different medication yesterday morning, then phoned me in the afternoon to talk through it in more detail and decided to prescribe a different one again, and cancelled the earlier prescription

Got a message this afternoon that Boots had my medication in. Got there, and of course they had the wrong one. They didn't have the other medication in and didn't know whether they could get it. Can feel the menopausal feeling of rage and despair creeping up.

Does anyone else use Evorel Conti patches?

thenightsky · 01/06/2019 22:10

oh yes... My friend who is 79 uses Evorel Patches. Been on them for nearly 20 years now, after coming off tablets - although had a forced year off when she changed GP to an arsey one for a while. They keep her spritely and her arthritis bearable.

Brabant93 · 03/06/2019 15:17

I have been prescribed femoston instead of elleste duet. The problem is that I will be on holiday when I change HRT. I am worried that I may have side effects. Would that be likely in the two weeks of changing?

thenightsky · 03/06/2019 15:24

I've now been changed twice due to supply problems. Not really had side-effects major enough to impact something like a holiday. I just had slightly worse sleep due to flushes and a bit of bloating in the run up to a period (white tablet phase).

ineedaholidaynow · 03/06/2019 23:09

Femoston was the other one the doctor prescribed me then changed his mind to Evorel patches. I was originally on Elleste Sequi but he has now decided I should be on Conti not Sequi, as blood tests show I have been through the menopause. The doctor kept asking me when I had my last period and has it been a year, but as I have been on Sequi HRT for over a year, which produces a monthly bleed, how would I know?

Degodier · 06/06/2019 07:55

I switched to Novifem. I'm not getting on with it at all so got another script for ED yesterday. From the sounds of it I'll have no joy! I'll let you know....

thenightsky · 06/06/2019 11:42

I'm putting in my prescription for ED today again. Fingers crossed I don't come out with Novofem substitute again, but I suspect I will.

Degodier · 06/06/2019 12:22

ER, that should be Novofem. Clearly the change in prescription has affected my spelling too...... :)

millsy1 · 08/06/2019 15:26

Can't help wondering if something suspicious has been found with Elleste Duet.. I've been on it for years and found it to be wonderful, and now there's no sign of it anywhere...as a replacement I didn't get on with Kliofem, made me feel very sick and headachy.

Degodier · 10/06/2019 09:29

I'm about to try Kliovance, the lesser dose than Kliofem, (maybe try that millsy1) which according to my GP & pharmacist is the closest chemically. I'll let you know how I get on. Going on holiday in two weeks so not ideal. Fingers crossed.

Fibbke · 10/06/2019 10:01

I've been switched to Femoston from Elleste Duette

I don't feel as good I have to say, although I can't imagine why as it is the same dose of oestrogen (1mg). I'm only 10 days in and still on the white tablets only. I'll give it two months.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 10/06/2019 17:04

just been given the last month's supply of Evorel Sequi the pharmacy had in stock - apparently there are also supply issue with these patches. Not sure if that's just locally (mine came from an independent pharmacy, who quite often have things that Boots doesn't).

thenightsky · 13/06/2019 14:59

Well, I've been given Novafem again Sad

The paper repeat prescription has been changed this time to Novafem too. Last few months its still said Elleste Duet and I've been told the Novafem was a short-term substitute only. Looks like I'm stuck with it forever now.

ANI5 · 20/06/2019 12:34

I have switched to Kliofem as could not get Elleste Duet 2mg and have been taking it for a month now - it is not as good as ECD but better than nothing (back to headaches/mood swings/bad temper etc etc but presumably less than without any HRT.....) does anyone know when ECD is likely to be back on the market? I have signed up to just about every online pharmacy to get alerts but so far nothing......

JinglingHellsBells · 20/06/2019 13:18

@AN15

A lot of these types of HRT are exactly the same, they just have a different brand name.

this is from the list of all HRT on Menopause Matters

ELLESTE DUET CONTI 2 mgs estradiol & 1 mg norethisterone daiyl

KLIOFEM 2 mgs estradiol & 1 mg norethisterone daily

The ingredients are identical.

thenightsky · 20/06/2019 13:55

My pharmacist (attached to the GP surgery) has said its highly unlikely to ever be available again.
