gate I can relate to feeling 'old and crap'. I'm struggling with this at the moment. It's different to the older and wiser train of though. Am feeling vulnerable and worthless these days Sad.

Also feeling old and crap. Sad

My self-belief has dropped through the floor over the last 2 years, and it had only just got there.......

I feel like my life is dissolving round me, and i can't decide whether to be bothered or not Confused

Feeling a bit better knowing it's not just me. I'm 47, and feeling pointless. And knackered. And then pointless again. Reading another thread about how people fit in exercise, and now feeling guilty that the last thing I want to do is exercise.

I wish I knew how to be interesting again and have fun, like a real person. I feel(totally unjustifiably) that dh might leave me cos I'm boring (we're probably both boring at our age!!)
Is it worth a doctor's visit? - if I go and get fobbed off it'll depress/annoy me.

I'm trialing using a double higher does of evening primrose oil at the moment. Basically I couldn't swallow the giant capsules so I've been piercing them and squirting them over my cereal / sandwiches / pasta.

I felt weirdly calm for a couple of days last week, not sure if that was a fluke / placebo effect or it has made a difference. I'll try and remember to stick at them for a bit and see if it helps.

Obviously actually remembering to take them is half the battle Hmm.

Does anyone get that 'kicked in the fanny' kind of feeling? Also soreness where your pubic hair in but on the inside if that makes sense? When your period is at it's heaviest x

I forgot to add the evening primrose oil to my supper today. FFS.

mandms I don't get those sensations because I had a hysterectomy and 2 sections. I suspect all the nerve ending are buggered. Although now you've mentioned it I'll bear it in mind.

yes mandmsmummyI get those kicked feelings and also the skin inside gets sore and 'thin' feeling, almost like I have papercuts in it. My clitoris also gets painful when on my period

Dh was not particularly sympathetic until recently esp as he is 6 yrs younger than me. However he now says he is starting to feel creaky about the knee and his eyes are playing up! I now aslo remind him about age related impotency and prostate widdlings in the night and saggy balls

I only get it early on in the period. I also sometimes find it hard to poo as it's really quite painful where my pubic hair is inside and also shooting pains up my bottom. Sorry for tmi! This isn't every month but has happened recently since my periods are changing. X

I get sore, itchy at front (not thrush), itchy pubes, dry (no smegma), swelling of inside tissues, swelling of labia, wet discharge, thrush, BV? urge megaincontinence Sad I get these before a period, after a period, from sex, condoms, lube, cervical mucus (if I get it). Vagifem has been some help, in that I have not got to the point where I can't sit down since I have used it.

mandmsmummy - pooing is much improved by keeping poos at a type 4 on the Bristol Stool chart (with help of movicol, porridge, prunes, figs, kiwifruit etc)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_stool_scale

At this stage, they are self-propelling and you hardly feel anything. I speak as veteran of rectocele surgery Grin. Any harder/drier, and they find nooks and crannies, places to catch and hurt or come out sideways or too slowly etc etc and generally make life dismal.

But is this related to my periods changing?
Do others get the pain that shoots up the bottom and down below? X

Bowel function may be related to changes in hormones.

Another thing worth looking at is pelvic floor dysfunction, where you have got used to tightening pelvic floor muscles and do not release them correctly on the loo - easy when you are in a rush. Also, put feet on a stool to straighten out the rectum.

If you do this and keep to a type 4 stool and still have pain, it might be worth seeing if you can get referred to a gynae physio who specialises in women's issues.

Wouldn''t it be nice if someone came on this thread and said things do get better at some point.

All of the above common signs but I guess the weirdest symptom for me (& what got me to the GP) was dizziness - literally having to sit down, not drive etc... GP didn't really want to acknowledge it as menopausal but there's plenty of info out there! I've been on Estogel for about 12 mths now & feel great. Have the odd anxiety moment or hot sleepless night but feel 99% back to normal!

Having gone from fortnightly periods, I've now gone weeks without one. Which I could cope with but the black cloud over my head is really getting to me. I'm self-employed but I can't bring myself to do any work. I just want to go back to bed and cry. I've never felt like this in all my life and I'm struggling with it.
