For the women who 've already gone through the menopause and whose ovaries have already shrunk IDK.

are they taking artificial hormones, or producing hormones from fat (are they overweight?)
Or does it come from supplements or food?

In any case the remedy is the same : progesterone or something acting as.

this is why some are offered the mirena it is a progestogen, but there are other ways, cream, pessaries, and there are herbal remedies too which make the womb shrink, and homeopathic treatments to rebalance everything and prevent it from happening in the first place.

i thought a period was needed to shed the lining but apparently not, i've had next to no bleeding and now my womb growth has gone down by itself (???)

It is a frequent problem during the perimenopause as the eggs no longer get released and produce the stuff for progesterone.

i imagine we are told f*k all so as not to frighten the horses, for myself i find this disrespectful and patronizing, after all we are adults and this is our body and health we have a right to full information.

i am sorry for the long lecture but unfortunately had to work it out for myself (in a state of crisis, v.helpful 4 stress) and if this can be useful 4 anyone else a starting point to ask ur own questions next time u see a doc (if you manage to nab one) i will feel a bit happier.

good luck with it.

yes there are ways to balance out awry hormones, in some countries they do it routinely.

i refer you to the feb issue (if i find it i'll copy it) of women's health magazine, the gynae who wrote the article on hormones explains there is a cream of progesterone "to mop up the excess oestrogen which often occur during a woman's 30's decade" or something like that.

Cycles when you have missed ovulation turn out too much unchecked oestrogen, it's also the start of the pre-menopause.

As i said there are allegedly other ways to rebalance hormones (herbs, diet, relaxation, acupuncture etc), the jury is out as to what is the best way for each.

But remember that in this country doctors will lie and deny rather than prescribe hormones, they are under orders to limit hrt very strictly.
and often menopause comes quickly bringing the hormones down anyway before any damage is done so i assume they take a chance.

i find this outrageous but there you are.

if already your womb was too thick 2 years ago imo they could and should have acted then.
or at the very least monitored as precaution don't you think?

btw before the hysteroscopy to soften the cervix a good tip is to administer a hot water douche, or sit in a hot bath the day before/just before the op.

if u're not bleeding you can try cramp bark tea or capsules, cramp bark relaxes the muscles.

but do not use if allergic to aspirin.

Thinking of you Skiving - all this hanging around, waiting for results etc is not good. Keeping fingers crossed for good news for you.

Well I phoned due to how many they have waiting to be seen I have to wait the 6 weeks so I said what if it is c. She said if anything shows on biopsy they can ring me with in 3 to 4 weeks of having it done to come in before the appointment ! I still think that's wrong when other areas only have to wait two weeks to find out, as if that's going to stop me worrying ?

Sorry to hear that you're having to wait Trace. Hopefully no news is good news. I'm trying not to think about it. Thankfully work is really busy so have something to get immersed in.

Hi ladies. I saw consultant today for results, not great news, will definitely need a hysterectomy and possibly radiotherapy. MRI within 2 weeks to see depth and if spread beyond the womb.

Oh *Skiving" - you poor thing Thanks sorry to hear it's not great news. How are you feeling now about things? Are they saying the biopsy showed malignant cells then? Your symptoms didn't seem that severe from what you said earlier.

SkivingAgain · 01/05/2014 16:29

Thanks for the Thanks friendly. My symptoms were nothing much to write home about, so it has been quite a shock to be diagnosed with the nasty 'c'. Hopefully mri will show that it hasn't spread beyond womb (keeping everything crossed).

Keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you too! Hopefully as it's been caught early, all will be fine, not surprised you're shocked - I would be too. My hysteroscopy isn't until 12th June so the time lapse between appointments has been quite long ...... but my lining was 11mm at the scan in January and my symptoms have only been the one bleed but lasted 6 weeks - must try not to google ......

Thinking of you x

12th June seems a long time to wait, hopefully that's a good sign they don't suspect anything serious. I went to GP on 31 March, had ultrasound on 2 or 3 April, consultant appointment and hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago today and been told that treatment must begin within 31 days of diagnosis. I asked consultant if he could see the cancer when he performed the hysteroscopy and he said he could, but consciously doesn't let his expression give it away. I do wonder what else he is holding back Sad

Please don't read too much into the consultant saying he could see the malignant cells, so easy for me to say I know! The important thing is to try to focus on the fact it has been caught and you are moving along the right path for treatment.

Again so easy for me to say!!! Do you have anyone with you this evening? x

No more news till Tuesday when I will ring secretary to see if mri could be done sooner privately. I know I won't be waiting long anyway, but if it helps nhs pay for the scanner and reduces the number of days I have wait for confirmation that it hasn't spread then it's worth it. I've been reading the thread about hysterectomies and finding it very reassuring - providing it's only stage 1/2. Thing I'm finding hardest is that I explained it all very clearly and calmly to my mother, but she only told my dad the worst stuff and now he's hysterical. Managed to calm him a bit explaining that this time next month I'll probably be CURED. Haven't told MIL yet as she is likely to be worse Confused. Why do some people seem to love all the drama of it?

Hi ladies. Got results of mri today - great news is that cancer has not spread beyond the womb, so hysterectomy will cure me. Grin So relieved. Trace and Friendly, any news? Hope your feeling well.

Hi Skiving - that is fantastic news!! So, so pleased and relieved for you!! Thanks

I just have to wait until 12th June and try not to think too much about any aches and pains that occur. No further bleeding since Nov but do sometimes feel like I'm going to come on, if that makes sense??
