Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

Have any of you tried natural progesterone cream? I think it is amazing stuff.

I read "What your doctor won't tell you about tell you about premenopause" and have been a convert ever since.

I would recommend both the book & the cream. (And I'm not the author of the book, and I don't have shares in the cream company either!!! Grin )

Hi folks ! What a lovely warm thread this is - thanks for the tea and toast Mouseface Smile
Since Christmas I've gone all spotty around my chin - back to the delights of teenage breakouts anyone ?
Can you get good skin coloured concealer that will help calm the area and be good for your skin at the same time ? If not, someone should come up with one !
Just wondering if there are some new good products since I last needed them 30 odd years ago ( will be 47 Shock next month )

diddl · 20/01/2012 10:38

Just over a year ago I had a period, before that it had been a year & before that they had been regular/normal.

Is that a usual scenario?

Mouseface · 20/01/2012 13:06

diddl - can I ask if you are using any form of hormonal contraceptive? I can't use them at all as they just do not agree with me, not in the argumentative way Wink, in the turning me into some other person! I could never work out when my period would arrive. Have you seen your GP about the absence of them?

Juggling - re a good concealer, I love YSL touche eclat pen, it has light reflecting pigments in and covers well without showing up lines, wrinkles, or making your pores look gigantic! It depends on your budget. Anything that has light reflecting pigments in will help, try Boots No7 range, they might do one.

Don't sleep in it though, clean your breakouts each night with a good cleansing treatment that won't dry the area out so that the concealer doesn't look baked on IYSWIM.

You could try tea-tree cream at night to help clear them up gently Smile

diddl · 20/01/2012 13:11

No, I´m not-haven´t done for about 10 yrs.

No, haven´t been to GP.

I knew that I wasn´t pregnant-also getting hot flushes, so assumed perimenopause & got on with it!
(was mid 40s at the time)

crazynanna · 20/01/2012 13:44

I think they say (docs) that it is either a clear year or is it 2 clear years....of period free to be actually in or through the menopause.but how old are you diddl?

diddl · 20/01/2012 13:49

Nearer 50 than anything elseGrin

CointreauVersial · 20/01/2012 13:49

Grin at Juggling saying this is a "warm thread". I have visions of one of crazynanna's hot flushes radiating from the PC screen.

Can't help on the concealer, I'm afraid - spots in the one inconvenience nature hasn't yet thrown at me.

Hi Maryz

crazynanna · 20/01/2012 14:36

Christ on a bike those hot flushes are something else! Shock

mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:05

Hi to all a newbie here (not to MN) but to this thread.

I'm 49 now and do all the irregular bleeding stuff, dropping stuff, forgetting stuff, wanting to kill a lot being a bit snappy stuff, not much of libido stuff.

This may sound a bit silly, but can hot flushes start in your stomach? My face doesn't get hot, my belly sweats Confused

crazynanna · 20/01/2012 15:08

Welcome mojitomania Smile

I think you can get hot anywhere. I also get weird cold tingling/shiver things all down my body usually at night time...it's great isn't it? Hmm Grin

mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:13

Thanks crazynanna. Symptoms, symptoms, a new one pops up practically every day!

Oh and I lost my car last week, reported it missing to police and insurance, found it on Monday Blush

mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:15
  • meant, reported it stolen - see!!! crap even comes out of my fingers now let alone my mouth.
JugglingWithSnowballs · 20/01/2012 15:15

HaHaHa moji Grin

  • sorry to laugh Blush
crazynanna · 20/01/2012 15:15

I forgot my address at the Argos counter a few months ago!
and when dd called me to get a phone number I had stored ran around the house yelling "Where's my phone!!!" to be told I was actually speaking on it Blush

MardyBra · 20/01/2012 15:21

Genuinely lol'd at mojito's car.

mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:22

Don't ever say sorry for laughing Juggling, it's the only thing keeping me sane at the mo.

I walked out of work yesterday, got to the car (15 min walk away), thought shit, haven't got my glasses on so won't be able to see price tags as was taking DS to get camping stuff, "sort of ran" all the way back to get them, looked at reflection in works glass door panel and where were they!!

YES, on my frigging head. Grin

JugglingWithSnowballs · 20/01/2012 15:26

Just wanted to make sure you knew I was laughing with you moji (not at IYSWIM )

  • How did that happen ?
  • Where was the car ?
mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:35

I drove to sainsburys last Wednesday, was in a daze as usual and must have thought I'd walked, so toddled off home. Went to get into it next day to go to work. I walked up and down my street, even up and down a couple of other streets, it was nowhere to be seen. I seriously thought it had been pinch so reported it to all and sundry.

On Monday, I popped to sainsbury's to get some milk, saw a car that looked just like mine, walked over to it and, yep it WAS mine.

Told a little white lie to police etc. and said I'd found it, it didn't have much petrol in it so theives must have dumped it there Wink

That's not a bad lie is it?

JugglingWithSnowballs · 20/01/2012 15:39

No, that's a genius lie moji

I once came out of work (I was working in a school at the time) and my car had disappeared. It was a very weird experience.

< wonders if telling slightly random anecdotes is also a feature of the Peri ? Smile >

mojitomania · 20/01/2012 15:47

Oh it's deffo a sign juggling

I'm practically the one off the advert that eats the packet Grin

LurcioLovesFrankie · 20/01/2012 17:07

Can I join the peri quiche, please? I'm 46, periods getting closer together, hot at night, insomnia, and appear to have mislaid my libido somewhere down the back of the sofa (though I think someone up thread said there was some hope I might find it when this whole miserable episode is over).

JugglingWithSnowballs · 20/01/2012 17:12

Hi Lurcio !

Yeh, it's weird not knowing if any of the stuff is here to stay (down hill from now on sort of thing !) or is just a passing phase.

Could be any of the symptoms really ... but especially thinking of the stuff that makes you feel a bit old like forgetting stuff, feeling tired, going off sex, getting cantankerous etc. etc.

pinkteddy · 20/01/2012 17:26

Hello, can I join too please? I am ahem mid 40s, periods have been going a bit awry for a while now (previously were every 30 days exactly), terrible night sweats and memory loss. I even when to the dr in tears convinced I had early onset alzheimers its so bad!

crazynanna · 20/01/2012 17:30

Does anyone else go through their full qouta of dcs' names until they get to the right one? Hmm
