Due in Nov 2008 - London Ladies Wot Tea

ChocOrange05 · 17/09/2008 12:01

Thought this would be easier than hijacking the general Nov thread.

The plan is to go to The Cadogan for Afternoon Tea at 3pm on Friday 3rd October. The Cost is just under £17 per person (maybe a bit more if we are an odd number).

I have made a reservation for 8 people just so we have something down (although they need to confirm it) but I think we need to give them firm numbers before the date. So can you please add your name here if you want to come.

So far we have:

ChocOrange05
Dozymare
MonkeyMargot
Hanaflower
Cricri

Anyone else??

Me too!
Oblomov
MerryM
londonboots
ChocOrange05
Monkeymargot
Cricri
I really enjoyed our last meet-up and would love to see everybody again
I must admit I have a slight preference for somewhere I can drive to, like Bluewater or somewhere south/west of the M25 as MerryM suggests. Don't fancy lugging buggy etc on public transport tbh but if central London is best for everybody else then I'm happy to meet there.
As for dates, how about end of February/beginning of March? Gives us sometime to plan.

ChocOrange05 · 23/01/2009 22:06

If everyone prefers to drive then we need a "central" driving location - i.e. somewhere in the middle of everyone if possible? I know Obs, Dozy, Monkey and Me are all South West and if Merry is East (?) would somewhere South be convienient for everyone? We could find a nice hotel off the M25 that does afternoon tea and has parking??

MerryMarigold · 24/01/2009 13:08

yes, myself and barbs are east and i thought cricri (? got colchester in my head for you cricri).

i am only 12 mins from liverpool st on overground but the stairs at the station are horrendous!

or we could do like the northern ladies, inconvenient for some this time round but convenient next time...

...westminster, waterloo, earls court, fulham broadway all look like they have lifts.

ChocOrange05 · 24/01/2009 15:02

What about driving Merry??

OP posts:
cricri · 24/01/2009 18:45

Yes, I'm in Colchester Merry - how did you know that?!
South of the M25 is fine for me but don't know any hotels in the area. Hopefully someone else can help! Afternoon tea again sounds lovely though
Perhaps not this time because of the weather, but in the summer we could meet at a National Trust place or Hever Castle or Hampton Court and have a wander round with the buggies and a nice lunch and/or tea if people like that sort of thing.

MonkeyMargot · 24/01/2009 21:05

More than happy to drive anywhere to meet you lovely ladies again. It was so fab last time.
Hello cricri - haven't said hello to you for ages! Hope all is well x

MerryMarigold · 25/01/2009 17:31

Driving is cool, can bring barbs too...I can do anywhere south on M25 as far as say, Caterham, Godstone. Not sure about cricri as Colchester is pretty far. Is Bluewater too far for other London people? Don't need to shop, but maybe there is somewhere there we could have lunch...also the National Trust idea is a good one cricri...although the weather can never be relied on, even in Summer .

MerryMarigold · 25/01/2009 17:33

Sorry, cricri meant to say you mentioned it ages and ages ago on a thread and it stuck as it is more over our direction! And...well if there is free champagne on offer I was suggesting places where I could get out and walk from. Maybe London this time and drive next time or the other way around...Cricri, I think the Colchester train stops at Stratford, then you, me and Barbs could travel the rest of the way together.

cricri · 25/01/2009 20:48

Hi MonkeyMargot Everything is fine thanks, sorry I've had no time for Scrabble recently - I restarted an old game I had going with Obs a couple of weeks ago, made 1 move and haven't had chance to go back to it since!
MerryM I'd forgotten I mentioned Colchester on this thread - it's funny what you remember about people isn't it? It would be good to meet you and Barbs at Stratford if we decide to meet in Central London and then we can brave the train/tube together.
Bluewater is very child-friendly I must say - it even has bf chairs in the parent and baby rooms and great changing facilities. Lots of places to eat too and undercover so no struggling with buggy and umbrella!
I mentioned our meet-up to Autumnlady, who came last time, and she's very keen to join us so once we've sorted out a date and venue I'll let her know the details.

same for me - no car so near a train station preferable.

Dozymare · 30/01/2009 19:55

Hurrah - found the thread FINALLY I am happy to go either central London or Bluewater (any excuse to shop eh and it does sound very child friendly) However, if londonbots and hana can't get there by train, then we need another option!

Not to sure if a hotel is going to be a good call though, can you imagine all those folks trying to have a nice civilised "quiet" time . My only request is that we please do a friday - that way it will be just me and Lula.

Looking forward to it already!!!

cricri · 30/01/2009 22:15

What about Westfield shopping centre in West London? Is that easy for everybody to get to? It has the advantages of Bluewater (child-friendly, undercover, lots of places to eat and shop) but is easily accessible for everybody either by car or by public transport. I know it's quite a way for those of us in the East - I'm happy to drive there but Merry and Barbs would it be OK for you or is somewhere in C London better?

Details on how to get to Westfield [[http://uk.westfield.com/london/getting-there here] Just had a quick look Hana and it looks as though the new overland station is now open.

cricri · 02/02/2009 10:40

Oops, directions here

Dozymare · 02/02/2009 12:22

afriad West is just that bit to far for me as I can't leave DS2 with parents for whole day........can we please go more central???

Oblomov · 08/02/2009 09:00

Are we any closer to a decision. Come on ladies, this is becoming PAINFUL
Right, Dozy, name a date please.
And then lets name a place.

We can do 2 - one central, one .... whatever.
But please lets arrange something.
I did promise Merrym, a meet up, to look forward to. And I was kind of hoping that it was going to be before our Nov 08 babies started school

Oblomov · 09/02/2009 08:55

Quite a few of us CAN do Bluewater, can't we ?
What about arranging one there and one right in the centre of London, like the Cadogan, or similar.
