Hi i'm 20 year old with two DS aged 17 months and 1 month so life is pretty hectic.
I'm from Fife but finding it impossible to find anyone else from here online!!!
I'd really like to make some new friends online as i don't have many friends my age, as none of them have children, so don't realise how all consuming they are!!!!
Due to this i get quite lonely and down at times.
so if anybody out there feels the same or just wants to chat...please do!

Sunnyskies,

I am scottish too, but now live in England. I do visit my parents in Livingston fairly regularly though.

weesaidie · 27/03/2005 16:01

babaworshipper - don't think the Ster Century one is quite as laid back as the others but it is near me too! I live near Elm Row.

Do you get to many of the baby films?? I think I'll be at the Odeon and Cameo this week... I just love the flicks!

Hmmmm, 31 is pretty old... you sure you aren't a granny!?

I wondering if the wee yin will be up extra early tomorrow as the clocks went forward..?? Oh, the joys of motherhood!!

weesaidie · 27/03/2005 16:03

Also I can be fairly hippish.. though I like to think I am more 'bohemian'

I did ante natal yoga and had a home birth - eek! Also love my sling!

Anyone know anything else fun to do with wee ones in Edinburgh?

Hi Madamebutterfly - am from Arbroath originally - (near Dundee) Don't go home very often!

babaworshipper · 27/03/2005 21:04

yay to slinging mummies!

Weesadie - your granny quip suddenly made me realise that I could be , girls I was at school with will have 16 year olds now - wow! I used to joke that by the time I got on with it their kids could babysit....hmmmmmm. Homebirth - well done you! I was at the Royal - natural birth though. I haven't been to any of the cinema screenings yet - but I will probably give the ster one a try this week I think.

Aimsmum - I must admit the 27 makes me feel slightly better - but not much lol!

Kidstrack2 · 28/03/2005 21:38

Hi Weesaidie, been away at my sisters in Kilmarnock for long weekend so thats me just getting round to a reply. Thats a good thing where you live doing screenings that you can take your baby along to. They don't do anything like that in Ayrshire not yet anyway! I usually go to a parent and toddler group on a wed and fri morning with the wee one and my ds is in p1 at school all day. At weekend we usually have friends round for a wee drink when the kids are tucked up in bed. Dh to be usually plays football on a sat and during the week when he comes home from work I head to the local gym for some me time. I really like getting out and about during the week specially long walks with the pram. Keeps me out of the house! What about you? Congrats on your homebirth you must be a very strong person!

sweetkitty · 28/03/2005 21:45

hiya all you scottish mums I think there are a fair few of us around

I'm from Ayrshire as well but have been away for quite a while am currently living in London but in the process of moving to Motherwell hopefully next month (if all goes according to plan that is).

I'm a first time mum to a DD who's 8 months old loving it so far.

Kidstrack2 · 28/03/2005 21:48

Hey CherryEm, Good luck with your wedding and I agree it is stressful and thats why we have decided to marry in cyprus. I was fed up planning my wedding around other people just to suit them. I hardly speak to any of my family where as my Dh to be has a really nice family so instead of having one side of the family on one side of the room and the other half seperated. I said stuff them all we are going away to have it our way. That way its all the friends we have asked to come with us that will be there to make it special. I hope you don't have any problems with yours. Keep me posted and you can give me do's and dont's tips.

Twiga · 29/03/2005 12:59

Hi Dixiexpat, like WasWondering has already said we're both in Aberdeen - I'm Welsh by birth rather than Scottish. Dh is a Dr at ARI and we're expecting our first in August. There are a couple of ladies on my due in thread who live reasonably close to Aberdeen - I wonder if there would be enough of us to get a "meet up" started?!

Demented · 29/03/2005 13:07

Hello to all you Scottish mums. I am living in Dunfermline, although originally from Stirling area.

weesaidie · 29/03/2005 17:20

Babaworshipper - it is quite strange... a lot of my second cousins (who live in one of the more 'unsavoury' areas of town) were all mummies around 15/16, as were their mummies! So I am a late starter compared to them. On the other hand one of the ladies in my antenatal was 40 and having her first so I guess as long as you are happy to be mamma that is what counts!

The home birth was great but I was worried, my midwife told me only 1 in 4 planned home births work out due to various complications most end up in hospital! Still the New Royal supposed to be v nice so that would have been fine.

Hope you make it to cinema, Cameo is best in my opinion and has Vanity Fair this week and My House in Umbria next! I am so sad I know

weesaidie · 29/03/2005 17:26

Kidstrack2 - home birth was lovely (hate hospitals!) but I think I was lucky to have quite a short labour (established labour 5 and a half hours) so could deal with the pain okay!

I spend my weeks at the cinema, meeting people for lunch or keeping my sister company at the cafe she works at! Usually go out the pub when dd is at her dads and sometimes go out for a wilder night if she is staying overnight anywhere! Am going for a wee party weekend in London soon which I am really looking forward to!

It is nice that u seem so relaxed about ur wedding, my cousins isn't until July 2007 (!!) and she is so anal about everything. It will be perfect, traditional and extremely hard work! Especially, for me as chief bridesmaid! Oh well I am sure it will be a lovely day...

Kidstrack2 · 29/03/2005 22:32

Oh you did have a short labour Weesaidie, My first lasted 24 hours and ended up emergency c-section baby heart rate had dropped and was very distressed. Second baby was 16hours I was determined to have this one myself although they prepared me for theatre. I was for none of it I refused gas and air, epidural and diamorphine just so I knew my own state of mind to deliver the baby. I must say the pain was unbearable at times but well worth it and although baby was slightly distressed It was much better than a c-section birth!

Twiga · 30/03/2005 14:20

Hi all, have bunged on another thread under meet ups just in case anyone in the Aberdeen and beyond type area wants to get together - don't be shy now! Aberdeen and beyond

Pagan · 30/03/2005 14:45

Hello folks - I'm in Glasgow and Jen has my fullest sympathies about not getting out much. I have two - dd 19 months and ds 2 months. Life was easy with just dd but oh so much more difficult with 2. Bought myself some flowers today which I've still not managed to put in water. Only on here as ds is feeding (again) so I can type with one hand.
Once he's prised off my boobies I have to go and squeeze in a phone interview for a course I'm doing.

Oh to be able to spend a day at a health spa!

weesaidie · 30/03/2005 21:38

Kidstrack - well done with the lack of pain relief for so long! I had ten minutes of gas and air at the end of my labour and it was such a relief!

How is your wedding planning going? I am now planning my mum's THIRD wedding!! That is going to be early next year and she is terrible at organising! All advice accepted!

weesaidie · 30/03/2005 21:41

Hey Pagan

well done managing with two wee ones (and all others!) I have to admit I don't know how I would cope with having more than the one! She is enough for me! Everyday I plan to do so many things... do they get done? Rarely...

Kidstrack2 · 31/03/2005 08:46

OMG My mum has been married three times also! Have to say didn't like any of her hubbies. Wedding plans are on hold till summer can't book till then. Decided on Phaphos in Cyprus getting married in the hotel we are staying in. Been looking in Monsoon at dresses, dh to be has decided he would quite like shirt and cravat an trousers type thing as he always wears kilt to friends weddings!

sophiant · 09/04/2005 22:48

Helo everybody!
also a young mum (24), my ds is 6 months and I was a student when I got pregnant so a complete change of lifestyle for me. Although there are all these lovely parent and baby screenings in Edinburgh still haven't managed to be out of the house by 10:30 in the morning as both me and ds are late sleepers but hopefully one of these days....
anyone going to ster century soon and would like some company?
all my friends are either working or studying and noone is available daytime.

weesaidie · 12/04/2005 21:22

Hey Sophiant

How lucky are you to have such a late sleeper!! My dd's average has been about 6.30am recently! I am trying to get her to sleep later but to no avail...

Where abouts do you stay?? I am sure I could make it down to Ster Century if you fancy trying it... my dd is 1 now so is a bit of a handful at the cinema these days!

weesaidie · 12/04/2005 21:25

Kidstrack - I wish my cousin was having a wedding like yours, would be much simpler!

I have been invited to a friend of a friends wedding reception in a few weeks but don't think I can make it! For one thing it is in Melville Castle and without a car I doubt I can get there and back! Plus my ex (whom I dumped) and all his friends will be there - slightly awkward I think!

I think my mum's man is lovely... too nice for her probably!

Kidstrack2 · 15/04/2005 13:00

Yeah Weesaidie, would probably give that one a miss, would probably feel uncomfortable all night and you wouldn't get a chance to enjoy yourself! I have three weddings in total so far to go to. Friends are all getting married in July so lets just say I'll be rather out of pocket that month. Forgot all about this thread thats me just starting to find my way round this site. Have you looked at the Gina Ford thread, don't think I should have left my opinion on that one, oh well never mind!

weesaidie · 17/04/2005 17:30

Kidstrack - haven't looked at Gina Ford thing yet. Don't really want to, I am sure it is great for some but for me it is a bit too regimented and inflexible. My dd has always done fine without it, maybe if she had been more difficult I would have tried it!

Think I am going to end up going to this wedding, feel I should! Just have to try and look fantastic!
