Just a little idea, I would be up for it (obviously).... anyone else?

I'll look at a map and try and work out a convenient location for us all, obviously any ideas would be welcome. For ease it may be good if anyone is willing to put another MNer up for the night they could mention it in their post

This is the Spa Experience info:

The Turkish Bath is the focal point for our Spa Experience. Whether you want to de-stress, relax aching muscles, improve your complexion or boost your circulation you will find nowhere better to enjoy the renowned health benefits of the Turkish Bath than SPA 1877.

The Victorian grandeur and elegance of the original Turkish Baths have been fully restored and enhanced through the application of 21st century innovation.

Guests can enjoy a traditional Hammam, sauna, steam room, aromasteam room, plunge pool, ice cave and experience shower. You can take time out and enjoy complimentary refreshments between visits in our luxurious relaxation area. Lunch can be pre-ordered at 24 hours notice.

We have two standard Spa Experiences to choose from. The three hour sessions run from Tuesday to Sunday. The two hour sessions run on Monday
at a reduced rate, these are ideal for a quick pick-me-up or taster.

Hammam
The Hammam is a soft and relaxing heat, unlike the intensity of a sauna and celebrates the ritual of cleansing and relaxation. Many of the original Victorian design features, including the beautiful glazed brick walls and mosaic floor, have been retained and restored. As you lay on heated marble benches you can truly imagine yourself in another world.

Aromasteam
Literally clear your head in our aromasteam room where a range of essential oils, such as eucalyptus and peppermint, is used to improve breathing as well as refreshing the spirit and promoting clarity of mind.

Steam
Hotter than Aromasteam. Relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of our largest steam room. Steam baths ease stress, relieve muscle tensions and stiff joints, boost the immune system, stimulate circulation, increase body metabolism, remove fat-stored toxins from the body and deep-c
cleanse the skin.

Sauna
Fans of this dry heat report feelings of peace and contentment as well as physical rejuvenation. Exposure to high heat causes an artificial fever, stimulating the body?s immune system to fight minor illness. Circulation increases, reviving tired muscles, detoxifying and cleansing the skin.

Plunge Pool
There is nothing more invigorating and stimulating than a dip in the plunge pool. Bathing in cold water supercharges the system, improves breathing and muscle tone and reduces fatigue. The release of endorphins gives you that feel-good factor.

Ice cave
Get that tingle factor as you chill out in the
Ice Cave rubbing ice granules onto your skin will exfoliate and really get the circulation going! For people with aching muscles, holding ice on the affected area decreases blood flow to provide immediate pain relief and reduce swelling.

Experience Shower
This amazing, multi-coloured tropical rain shower is guaranteed to refresh and exhilarate after coming out of the steam rooms or sauna. As you are blasted by the water, the colours in the room change to give you an unforgettable shower experience.

Relaxation
In between visits to the hot and cold experiences, relax in comfort and enjoy a wide range of complimentary drinks.

Spa Experience
Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holidays up to 3 hours £20.00. Weekends are mixed sessions, but costumes/gowns/towels are worn.

EXPRESSPA
Monday (excluding Bank Holidays) up to 2 hours £15.00

Thanks for contacting them Hula!

I definitely want to go. (Dh is disappearing off to deepest darkest West Scotland for 10 days at the beginning of April, so I will need some pampering!)

Can we make a definite proposition and put it on a new thread, asking for definite commitments!

How about Saturday, 23 April; 2.30 - 5.30 Spa Experience £20 per person. (Plus optional extra treatments available). [Link to this thread]

Followed by 'a meal somewhere'.

What do you think?

jamiesam · 10/02/2005 22:22

Thanks for all of the research Hula. Roisin, your suggestions for spa/dinner sound great to me. Also agree new thread a good idea...

nightowl · 11/02/2005 00:17

thats my birthday! may have to decline.

Hulababy · 11/02/2005 09:04

Loads of places to eat and drink round there. It is pretty central. Our apartments are next door! Under where we are there is a Mexican/South American (great for big groups but last time we went service was dodgy and food only reasonable, but in past i has been good.); Revolution (mainly drinks but also food); Italian (yummy, posher type Italian place); Noodle bar; Pizza Express; lots of smaller italians, erm... well tons really.

BTW, there is also two car parks very close by. And the tram (which starts at places like Meadowhall or near the train station) goes right by too.

The spa is open fairly late on a Saturday night (8pm I think).

Does a 2.30 ? 5.30 slot suit the people interested, or would you prefer a later session?

Yorkiegirl, Hula, Jamiesam, Secur, Katzguk ... Who else is definitely interested?

Wedgiesmum has offered me a bed for the night, so I presume she?s planning on coming too!

Hulababy · 11/02/2005 10:39

rosin - I was going to ask about WM. I am meeting her later today

Not really - I only vcut and paste from brouchure!

I am off out soon, so will pop in and pick up the new brochure and prices - may be easier to read than online.

If everyone likes this, it is best to book asap. They need to know numbers for Spa and for any treatments.

I think I will just go for the full Spa session, and no treatments TBH.

And, if people do want to eat afterwards, I don't mind having a look to see where and what you may want.

However, it was jampot that started this, and others who were more active at start, I don't want to take over and tread on toes.

Time slot is fine for me too. TBH, most are - I can see the place from here.

Oh, anyone watch that Sheffield Relocation programme. Well, the apartment the couple bought - it is directly above the Spa!

I'll tell DH later

roisin · 11/02/2005 11:51

I want to go just for full spa session too - no treatments.
No preference for timeslot.
I would like to go out for a meal afterwards too.
I can do Saturday, but not the Sunday.

Hula - if you haven't gone already, say "Hi!" to WM from me.
If these arrangements suit her too, shall we start a new thread, and try and get some definite numbers by the end of the weekend.
(Presumably we can always add more to the booking at a later point if they have spaces?)

I know this weekend doesn't suit everyone, and it's a shame that some people won't be able to come. But I think we need to crack on and organise something which will at least suit some people, otherwise nothing will actually happen.

I'm happy to pay the £20 up front - I think that sounds best from my reading of their email to you Hula?
Who would be happy to collate the cheques and make the booking?

I would be more than happy to collate cheques, etc. and take them over. It's just so close!

Hulababy · 11/02/2005 16:19

Also, there is an Ibis in the city centre - about 3 or 4 tram stops down from Spa. Only £40 a night at weekends for a room (not pp).

Hulababy · 11/02/2005 16:22

Sorry, £45 a night a room at weekends:

Thanks for offering to collate cheques Hula - that's great!

Do you want to start a new thread with the basic details on (meal details to be arranged/agreed later) and get people to sign up?
