Mummytummy, Soapbox and anyone else in the area. What do you think? I'm happy to do any organising necessary.

I've never done this meet up thing despite being on mumsnet for a long time now. But if you twist my arm I might give it a go

tex111 · 11/11/2004 23:32

I've never done it either but what they hey! You mentioned that you work. Is that fulltime? Just thinking of when would be a good time for a meet up.

I sometimes take Friday's off if a day time meet is best for everyone - can also do evenings (the joy of not having babies anymore)!

tex111 · 11/11/2004 23:36

I'm a SAHM so anytime including evenings would be fine for me. I guess we'll see if we get any other takers and see what they say.

So how old are your kids now? Are they going to school in Chilehurst? I've heard the schools here are very good.

soapbox · 11/11/2004 23:40

I have a DD(6) and DS(4) they go to school in Lee (Colfes).

The schools round here are good - there's a good Cof E school that we are in the catchment for but we are not good at getting out of bed on Sundays to go to church and that seems to be the main criteria for getting in!

tex111 · 11/11/2004 23:45

I've noticed that so many of the good schools are linked to a religion and unfortunately we're not religious. DS is 2 so we haven't tackled the whole school thing yet. He's registered for Foxbury Under 5s next year but that's as far as we've gotten. It's difficult because I think we'll be in Blackheath before he reaches school age. I guess I should start doing my research.

I think I'm going to have to get some sleep. DH has been away so I've been indulging in MN a bit more than usual. The time really flies on here! Hopefully we'll get some more interest in a meet-up but we could always just meet for a drink if not.

We were the opposite way around - we were in Blackheath when looking for schools and hten moved out here, so just kept their names down at Colfes and went with that option.

I've got friends with children at lots of different schools in Blackheath so can fill you in when we meet up.

My children both went to a fantastic (non-flashy) Montessori pre-school nursery in Blackheath. They only take them for half day sessions though - but it was a fantastic school!

soapbox · 11/11/2004 23:50

Good night - me too...

tex111 · 12/11/2004 10:49

Anyone else interested in a Bromley meet-up? I know there was one a few months ago but I missed it. Shall we have another go?

Just giving this a bump...

mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:11

Sorry tex111, only just seen this. I live in Swanley - do they let people from Swanley into Bromley?!!

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:15

Of course! Glad you saw the thread. I was hoping you'd come! What's your situation - day meet-up or evening best?

OP posts:
mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:16

I'm a SAHM, so any day. DD1 goes to nursery on a Thursday morning, so if you're not including kids, that would be best, but if you are, any time. I must confess though, going back to last night's thread - I do drive a 4x4 - you won't stone me, will you?!!

mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:21

Sorry, just re-read the thread - evenings are also fine for me.

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:26

LOL!! No, no stonings. I guess we'll give it a day or two and see if anyone else is interested and then choose a day and time. Never done this before. Have you been to any MN meet-ups before? I've planned to a couple of times but something always seemed to go wrong.

mummytummy - PMSL

These generalisations always come back to haunt people

mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:33

I've never been to one either. No need for red carnations, I'll be the one in the Joseph jumber . PS. What actually is a Joseph jumper?

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:34

Mummytummy you're hilarious! I actually went into Joseph once and knocked over a display. Was so embarrased I never went back.

OP posts:
mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:35

Sorry, I really don't know what Joseph is. Coming from Swanley, my nearest clothes shop is Asda!!!

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:39

I looove Asda. I go to that one all the time, so good for kids clothes. Joseph is just a posh shop, but it can't be that posh because they have one in Bluewater. I think it used to be quite an exclusive boutique now it sells nice but overpriced clothes.

OP posts:
mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:44

I used to shop at Asda, but since having DD2 six months ago, I avoid supermarkets like the plague. Joseph is probably down the same drag as Karen Millen. I kind of avoid that end - I always feel like you should be a size 8 to shop in there!

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:48

Exactly right, I bet they don't do anything over a 12. It's amazing how many High Street shops don't even do 16s! Makes it so hard to shop when you fancy something a bit trendy.

Do you order groceries online? I usually do a Tesco order once a week and it's great. So easy and no dragging a screaming child down the aisles.

I've got a DS who's 2. How old is your oldest?

OP posts:
mummytummy · 12/11/2004 22:52

DD1 is 2 - her birthday was in May. I do use Tesco online, also Sainsbury and Waitrose. I went to a clothes shop in Chislehurst once. If you come from Sidcup, you get to the Chislehurst cross roads, and turn left and its at the end of the parade. The two women that worked there were a cross between Trinny & Susannah and Hinge & Brackett (not sure if you'll know who H&B are!). It was a nightmare. They kept on bringing clothes that in their taste would suit me. I ended up buying something three sizes too small for me just because I didn't want to come out of the changing room and show them what it looked like!! Its still at the back of my wardrobe!

tex111 · 12/11/2004 22:58

DS was two in July so they're pretty close in age. I've never been into a clothing shop in Chislehurst. I find them all a bit intimidating. There is one right in the middle of the High Street that I like to look in the window every once in a while but all my clothes are so casual since DS. I live in Gap, Next and Zara (when I'm feeling trendy).

Nope, don't know Hinge & Bracket but I'll google them!
