Hi I moved to Derbyshire 9 months ago i am married and have a dd (15mths) and would like to meet some other mums. I am in the middle of nottingham, derby and sheffield so am lucky that can meet in a lot of areas but am quite shy, so finding it hard to go to groups. Also dd usually sleeps in morning, and toddler groups in my area all seem to be in the morning which leaves me stuck. Is there anyone out there that would like to chat?

Hi wilki. I am in Sheffield. I have one DD, aged 26 months.

There is also a Sheffiled lunch time meet - Friday 9th July in Sheffield centre - for coffee and sandwiches.

And there is a weekend meet in Sheffield coming up in July too.

A bit further away from you, but other side of Sheffield there is a meet next Monday at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Off out for day soon, but hope to chat again soon.

Clayhead · 02/07/2004 13:53

sobernow, I was there late 90s. I lived on the new estate, the name of which I've forgotten I think all the closures had happened by then and it seemed a sad little place at the time but it suited me as I needed good access to Sheffield, Derby and Stoke.

Hi Wilki2000 I live really close to you near Clay Cross. I go to the Sheffield and Derby meets, and will be going to the YSP meet (I can give you a lift if you need one). I have one DS who is 5 and a DD who is 3. If you fancy a minimeet then me and DD are free Mondays and Tuesday afternoons - coffee in Alfreton?? Do you know about Chuckles in Clay Cross (soft Play - DD loves it). Welcome to the area, hope to meet you soon!

WMxx

WedgiesMum · 03/07/2004 00:23

FD could come too maybe???

School holidays I can do anytime BTW

wilki2000 · 03/07/2004 00:49

Hi WedgiesMum, Thanks 4 welcome. Meeting would be great. Tuesdays are best for me at mo, and although coffee sounds great, Im sure our dd's wouldn't be that overjoyed! I do know about chuckles but have not been yet. So let me know when and I'll meet you there. And FD or anyone I guess is welcome.

Hi Wilki2000, I moved to Derby (Chaddesden) a year ago from Durham, where did you move from?

Do bite the bullet and go to a meet - I've never been to any either and am planning on going to a few through the summer, so you'll not be the only new mum there!!

Oh, and I've got a dd, 20 months and two ds's 3, and 6 months.

Hulababy · 03/07/2004 00:56

Wilki - Chuckles is great fun. I went there with WM and her DD and the children had a lovely time

Please don't be too nervous. I was really scared first time I meet people but so far everyone I have met from here has been lovely.

wilki2000 · 03/07/2004 00:58

hi babystefee,

I have moved up from Essex, and although my parent also moved up, I am finding it hard getting used to the new life. Although I must admit, people here appear much more welcoming than in essex. Thanks for encouragement, its awful being nervous about something you really want to do. But ill get there

babysteffee · 03/07/2004 01:06

Yeah I know what you mean wilki, I really miss my friends from up North, and though I've met a few people here too, it's not the same as my old friends and quite hard to get used to. I'm sure it'll get easier though.

How's your dh finding it here?

Never heard of Chuckles hulababy, is it like bumpis?

fairydust · 03/07/2004 01:06

i'm pretty much the same wilki havn't really meet anyone from the area.

may be we could arrange something - i've got alot of hospital appointments comming up with dd but am sure we could try n arrange something.

Hulababy · 03/07/2004 01:08

babysteffee

Kind of but more floor space in the play area. There is a smaller soft play climbing thing with slides, Little Tykes type slides, climbing frames, kitchens and cars, a toddler soft play area, a bouncy caster, etc. And a little cafe area for drinks and snacks.

WM will be able to tell you more as I have only been once.

WedgiesMum · 03/07/2004 01:09

Right so let's set a date, how about 6 July? Me and DD sometimes go for lunch and a play there after she's been to pre school so are there for about 12 noon - does that suit?? We can do later but have to be away by 3.15 as DS doesn't appreciate me leaving him at school

Anyone else coming??

wilki2000 · 03/07/2004 01:11

sounds good fairy dust. As im not working at mo its probably easier if you tell me when you're free and we can go from there? Where did you move from? was it far?

Babysteffee - i know what you mean, theres nothing like having a chinwag with mates that know you inside out huh? but you're right it will get easier and it feels great talking to others in same position, must admit.

WedgiesMum · 03/07/2004 01:14

Chuckles is an older version of Bumpis I guess. Lots of things to do for the younger clients IYSWIM, best fro kids under about 6/7. A Big area for under 2s, like Hula said lots of Little Tykes climbing/sliding things, scooters, play house, kitchen, bouncy castle etc etc Also climbing area at the back and slides and a ball pool - parents/adults are welcome to go on at all times. Cafe facilities basic, but the tean and coffee are cheap (as is the entrance fee!) and they do chip, beans, spaghetti, toast, toasties type food. We are big fans of their cheese toasties....

wilki2000 · 03/07/2004 01:14

sounds good to me WM, except can I suggest 12.30 as dd usually wakes up at 12, so will give me time to wake her up and drive over?

OP posts:
Hulababy · 03/07/2004 01:15

I would say that Chuckles is even more toddler friendly than the bigger, newer soft play places. DD loved it

WedgiesMum · 03/07/2004 01:20

12.30 is great! You'll know me because I'm tall, wear glasses, and will be completely exasperated with DD (no particular reason, mainly just cos she's 3 ). If we meet inside I usually sit near the cafe bit - do you want my mobile no??
