Older mums in Norfolk?

LeilaS · 03/09/2006 09:26

I'm 43 with an adorable 2 year old (and a similarly gorgeous but rather more challenging 19 year old) and wondering if I am the only older mum around. I have made lots of lovely younger friends since having my youngest son but would so love to have a few friends a little nearer my own age. We read in the media that more and more women in their forties are having babies - but are they in Norfolk?!

Baladi I grew up in Fakenham! My parents and brother still live there. I escaped and moved to Sheffield for a while, but moved back to Norwich for work.

LeilaS · 13/09/2006 09:24

Hi Surprise. Good to hear from another mum. Have you any tips for good places to take kids in the city?

waving from south Norfolk (work in Norwich though). I am 40 in a few weeks time (eeek). I have 3 kids 5 year old DS1 and 3.5 year old ds2/3 (twins). So not quite in your original category

LeilaS · 13/09/2006 11:34

True Throckenholt but you'll do!! How wonderful to have twins. I've always wanted twins - bit late now though!

I'm 42 and live in Norwich with dh and dd, aged 2 and a half. It's good to hear from other Norfolk people. I'm actually looking for a decent nursery in North Norwich for next year when she is 3. I posted a message under "Nurseries" - does anyone have experience of Jigsaw or Little People Montessori nurseries. Do they have a good reputation? Loking forward to hearing from you.

LeilaS - non id twins (mine are id so don't count) are more common as you get older and there are a much higher rate with over 40s - so maybe .......

surprise · 13/09/2006 19:14

Hi again. My friend's children both attended the Jigsaw nursery on constitution hill and I know they got on really well there.

As for knowing good places to take kids in the city, the Castle is the only thing I can think of (especially the tunnel between there and the Regimental Museum). We tend to go the coast or to woods for a cheap day out but it's also a bit weather dependent. I'm north of the city, which makes it easy to get to Cromer in 25 mins. there are buses and trains out there too, worth it for the chips alone
