Next meet up, Tuesday 4th September.
During the day, either Botanic Gardens in Durham or the Slug and Fiddle near the Gala Theatre in Durham City centre.

Now for some random chat.
DS sang a song about bolognaise today. And DD walked some more. But still prefers crawling and using my nipples as handholds on Mount Starbuck.

Feeling much better after the weekend! There was both cake (brownie bites) and roses when J got home late on Friday (yet again, without any warning, when I was bloody knackered!) - although actions speak louder than words and the actions still aren't saying "I'll help relieve your over burdened shoulders!". But I got enough sleep which helps! And I ate lots of chocolate.

Anyone around Saturday afternoon? We're being abandoned for the umpteenth time so I think getting T tired out with play and ready for an early night will be the order of the day!

Erm possibly Leggy. I will check and see what is happening, dd has a birthday party at the Boyne Playpit but they don't have the place booked out so I am bringing the others to play too and having lunch there as dd will be haivng the party lunch. Do you want to join us? Later on I'm not sure. BIL is supposed to be coming up at some point but dh has a regatta. I am assuming he will be back before BIL arrives. But then this is dh we are talking about.

Britta - squeeee, I had a feeling it was you when I clicked on your name! You should totally come along haven't seen you and the girls for aaagggggggeeeeeeeessssss!! Though I do keep up with your doings on FB Grin

I think I might have to give Gibside a pass now, as it looks like I am booked up for half term, got stuff planned with DS on Monday and Tuesday as DD will be at the CM's. Thursday and Friday DH is off, so on Thursday got bfing group then MSLC meeting in the afternoon, and I'm sure DH will want to do something on the Friday.

Leggy - will have to see about Saturday, as DH is going up to Ikea in the morning to buy some furniture so we will probably be swearing lots and injuring various body parts while building wardrobes.

Though perhaps I should suggest it might be easier for him to do that without the DCs underfoot...

Hah!

We generally do all furniture building etc during Tree Foo Tom or after T's bedtime!

Well turns out T's godfather who is staying with us while he attends a wedding on Sat, doesn't have to be in tow ntil about 3 so I may time operation-exhaust-toddler to fit with dropping him off

Well the tax office have managed to screw up DH's tax code for the second month running Angry which means he is down several hundred quid for the 3rd month running! So Ikea trip is off as we need the money we set aside for it to pay bills! And we are going to have be extra frugal this month!!
So no trips north for the next few weeks!
Fingers crossed we get the money next month!

aaargh. Hope it gets sorted out quickly, is it because of moving jobs?

Report
KaraStarbuckThrace · 24/10/2012 09:34

Yes it is, especially as he no longer has a company car - he is still being taxed for that and the fuel card, plus his current company forgot to give him the car allowance last month - he has got that though.
Well as it happens he has been told that as he was only in the pension scheme for less than 2 years at the previous company he could have all the cash back he paid into it or transfer it, he was going to try and transfer it but I think he is going to take the cash now then join the new pension scheme in the new year. We have got loads to do on the house, and we are starting on the kids bedrooms.

So when can you do Spiggy? Tuesday is usually your day isn't it? I am usually carless on Tuesday I'm afraid so I'd have to work around bus times.

can swap days if that easier- DH did a 3 day week so I could do a full one the other week so I've got to do the same so that everythiong balances up. Actually I think I'm off Mon 12th as I've got to be in on the 13th. Is that any good?

Hopefully I'll be driving by then...

Here is one of those things that just makes you throw your hands up. Last Monday I was in ASDA and dd2 (4yo) has recently learned to make a game of waiting till I am at the end of the travelator before she steps on and joins me at the other end.

So I am nearly at the bottom when I look back to see two women trying to get her onto the travelator. I try to signal to them to leave her alone but no luck. They force her onto the thing, kept hold of her all the way down. I can just see her little face go from worried to desperate to crying by the time she gets to the bottom.

I made a point of telling them (as nicely as I could) that they had just spoiled her fun. One said 'but we were worried that she would fall and hurt herself' to which I said, 'No, she is perfectly able to get on with no help at all.' They just kinda went 'oh' and scarpered.

And I had a child who took 5 mins to calm down and who I ended up putting in my sling which I rarely have handy anymore, to take to the car because she was so upset.

People.

Ooooh I have to say it even though it isn't AIBU......"it wouldn't happen in waitrose" Grin mainly cos they are too small up here for travellators

DH and the children have a game in the teeny tiny park round the corner from our house where he takes one path and the big 2 take the other one and they have a race round. He got a massive lecture from a woman one day because "anything could happen when they are out of sight" erm they are hardly out of sight for more than a few seconds at a time when they go behind a bush. And as their father DH is perfectly competent at deciding risks for himself instead of some random person who doesn't know my children or their abilities.

Right, I may be tempting fate but ... I think Pre-baby task #1 is moreorless complete - T has been compeltely dry for the last 4 days, and only one accident in the 48 hours before that. Over the weekend she managed to stay dry while out and about in town, at a party and during her naps by asking for potty and waiting sometiems a few minutes to get to one.

On Saturday I moved all the nappy stuff back through to the nursery; only the disposible night nappies remain, and they're dry half the time too. It felt oddly emotional!

Now... anyone got tips on getting her to stay asleep without coming for a cuddle at 5am? Or at least getting to the potty on her own on the way so I don't have to get up?! It was an unanticipated and unwelcome side effect of day-time potty training!
