Where - if we met in St James's Park we could shelter dance on the band stand Grin

Shodan · 17/07/2012 22:52

I have been musing.

Sofas + drink + those of us who say 'oof' when rising from a sofa = potential for maximum embarrassment wrt flailing limbs, spilled drinks and possible knicker-showing. Unless wearing trews, of course, but the first two still apply.

I think I will stick to lurching leaning standing.

Hullygully · 18/07/2012 09:03

I am stuck with broken fuck car in France - meet up looking good

Good show Biwi

Bugger, Hully.

(Important comma usage there)

GetOrfMoiiLand · 18/07/2012 10:00

Very important comma usage there.

I needed one of them commas when I posted 'fuck me Prince Charles'

Shodan - I'm sure we could organise a few handrails and zimmer frames for us all to pull ourselves to our feet every now and then.

(Seriously - it was a joke! - you must come too - I think Hully has promised to do some table-dancing at some point. Whether or not she will be flashing her knicks, I can't say)

I am also terribly ancient. Which I combine with a dazed and confused outlook in the presence of grown-ups as I have a 3-yo of my own and work exclusively with under-5s. Quite frankly the thought of drinking alcohol in adult company terrifies me.

Shodan · 18/07/2012 11:39

Oh I'm definitely coming. Anything for a chance to have a good look at Hully's knicker. Anyway, forget the handrails etc- couldn't we have a few topless handsome young bucks to help pull us up?

Last time I came to a MN meet up I tried to take off Valpollicella's trousers. She wasn't greatly impressed, iirc.

ElephantsCanRemember · 18/07/2012 11:40

terrifies me too Rubygates But I am sure sure that once we see Hully dancing on the tables and flashing her knickers we will feel like we are the height of sophistication! Grin

Shodan · 18/07/2012 11:40

I appear to have channelled Trinny and Susannah wrt Hully's singular knicker.

ElephantsCanRemember · 18/07/2012 11:41

So whilst Hully is with her broken down car, trying her hardest to speak Franglais, does she realise we are discussing her knickers?? Grin

Shodan · 18/07/2012 12:14

If she does, Elephants, I'm sure she'll be feeling a warm glow of luuuurve that we're so keen on her knickers.

almapudden · 18/07/2012 15:12

Are lurkers allowed to come?

BellaVita · 18/07/2012 15:33

Of course they are alma.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/07/2012 17:42

What does one wear to a meet-up?

BellaVita · 18/07/2012 18:03

Whatever you feel comfortable in.

Mintyy · 18/07/2012 18:17

Hearts
The extensive discussion of what people are going to wear will begin shortly. It is one of the reasons why I haven't been to a meet up, tbh. Too intimidated by people being seriously bothered about what people are wearing.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 18/07/2012 18:25

The reason I get so bothered about what I am wearing is because I only go out about twice a year.
I like getting dressed up and I rarely get the chance.

BellaVita · 18/07/2012 18:43

Mintyy, I would never have thought you were someone who was intimated by others.

I like to get dressed up but that is me. I will not be buying anything new though!

Some were in dresses, others in jeans and trousers last November.

No one is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

EarnestDullard · 18/07/2012 18:49

Agree with Bella, at the three meetups I've been to now there have been dresses, jeans and everything in between. I think the discussion is because people are interested in what others are wearing, not because they are bothered. I can't imagine anyone would be judged on their outfit. And I say this as the most nervous, self-conscious person in the World.

Pagwatch · 18/07/2012 18:58

The range and variety of outfit at the one I went to was enormous.

I think the discussion about what to wear is a combination of checking that you won't stick out like a sore thumb and a vague excuse for pre meet up bonding/joshing/chit chat.
On the night no one gives a shit. Actually broadly no one really gives a shit

BelleDameSansMerci · 18/07/2012 19:08

May I come too? It's just after my birthday too...

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/07/2012 19:12

I only ask about the dress code because I recently bought a new dress off t'internet (my first online clothes purchase - it was v v exciting) (AND I got it because it was on Mumsnet Swears By!!)

Normally I am a comfy-clothes kind of gal but am quite excited about the chance to show off my new frock.

now just need to lose a stone or so so that it actually fits
