FALKIRK FALKIRK FALKIRK!! There is a fab soft play area in the high street which has a cafe that serves hot food. The play area even has baby walkers etc for younger kids.
AND Falkirk High Station is on the main Glasgow to Edinburgh link. Trains every 15mins..... takes 23 mins either way. grin]

Toothache · 27/09/2005 09:14

OR Beancross Farm Restaurant. It has a supervised play area for over 2's. And serves fab food and coffees..... and alcohol.

tassis · 27/09/2005 09:26

I might come if it were falkirk, but weekends are a bit busy ATM...

Toothache, some local information please - where's the Beancross Farm restaurant and where exactly is the soft play in Falkirk. You OK? TIA!

Toothache · 27/09/2005 10:09

Tassis - THe soft play is called Cheeky Monkeys and is above the shops at the entrance to the howgate shopping centre...... literally 2 mins walk from Falkirk Grahamston station and 10mins from Falkirk High station!

Beancross Farm is a bit more out the way heading out toward Grangemouth. I would get a taxi from Falkirk Town Centre.... but for those driving its just off the motorway. I'll get a link with a map. You have to book tables but it is really really good..... the kids menu is fantastic with lots of home cooked foods like steak pie, mince & tatties, vegetable lasagne. Not just the usual chicken nuggets and chips!

Toothache · 27/09/2005 10:19

Map, Beancross Farm

Its nearer Polmont Station.

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 10:23

Falkirk is a nightmare for me to get to on public transport have to get train to Glasgow Central then walk to Queen Street then train to Falkirk, Livingston a little better.

Glasgow or Edinburgh still the best for me, sorry!

Toothache · 27/09/2005 10:36

SK - Yes Glasgow would be ideal, but we can't seem to be able to find anything in the City Centre to take the kids too.

mawbroon · 27/09/2005 11:46

Can I just say that I would love to come, but my baby is due on 27th October so it is perhaps not the best idea

Can I join you in the future please? I live just outside Bathgate.

tassis · 27/09/2005 13:19

thanks toothache!

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 13:44

are any of these any good? (hope this works)

soft play

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 13:47

geronimo's doesn't seem too far a walk from central station?? anyone been?

Gomez · 27/09/2005 13:49

Don't know of these Sweetkitty but do agree that Glasgow or Edinburgh would be better.

(Toothache - have you been to Beancross recently? It was pretty poor the last time we were there. Ain't great withour a car either.)

Toothache · 27/09/2005 13:49

SK - Thats miles from the station according to the map! Or am I just being dim?

Toothache · 27/09/2005 13:50

Gomez - I was there about 3 weeks ago! How come?? Why do you think it was dire?

weesaidie · 27/09/2005 13:51

Hey SK, I am not sure of those as I don't know Glasgow too well!

Again I will have to ask the weegies for their opinions here?

I can do anywhere though, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livi... whenever and wherever!

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 13:52

have just looked in my handy a-z and its on duke street which runs off of George Street I reckon it would be 30 mins max from central station though duke street is very long it runs parallel to Gallowgate.

Toothache · 27/09/2005 13:53

SK - Thats still a hefty walk for small kids though. Ds doesn't go in a buggy anymore..... unless there's a tube station nearby. Will check now.

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 13:56

It's half way along Duke Street so I reckon it's 20 mins walk giving that Central Station to George Square is about 10 mins.

Don't have a clue what it's like or anything though?

Gomez · 27/09/2005 13:59

According to the AA, Queen Street to Duke Street is 0.7 miles.

Toothache - the food was dire. The mashed tatties were from a packet I am positive! Service was pretty awful too. Was probably about 2 months ago now - might just have been a bad day.
BTW get some cheap flights from Easyjet for the Christmas Meet-Up. Come on you know you want to...

I have a car and can get anywhere but we are not a big bunch of bodies in Central Scotland so thought it would be better to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible.

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 14:00

no underground but low level train service from Central Station

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 14:01

I won't be allowed to fly for the Christmas meet up

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 14:07

geronimos

Toothache · 27/09/2005 15:01

SK - Unfortunately that would be more of a hike for me than going to Livingstone! I would have to walk around to Central from Queen St.

We need something in the City Centre!! There MUST be something?????

I've just had an idea................. wot about a no kids evening?!?!?!

Gomez - Definitely must have been an off day! We go there alot and have had a couple of disappointing meals.... but the playroom is fab and the good times by far outweigh the odd bad time.
I'd LOVE to come! But we go to Dublin 1st week in November and I don't know if I can justify this to DH!!!

hmmmmmm she ponders why she has to justify to him at all......

Gomez · 27/09/2005 15:40

Indeed - Toothache why do you need to justify...
Get your flights booked woman .

sweetkitty · 27/09/2005 15:49

why toothy geronimos is closer to queen st than central station?

what about no kids lunch in central glasgow ?
