Who is doing a PhD?

I'm just into my second year of my PhD and struggling hugely with motivation and writing - would love to connect with any others feeling the same and perhaps need/want some support and keep each other accountable!

These all sound fascinating.
Mine also draws on people's personal experiences and it's that idea of enabling their voices to be heard that is pushing me to complete.

Mine’s around sleep at KS3.. I’m on an educational professional doctorate. Recruitment has been amazingly fast, so very happy at this current stage of the journey!

That's what I'm on too.
Just finished a meeting with my supervisors and they feel I should be ready to submit my final draft to them by the end of August.
There is such a lot of work to be done I could easily get overwhelmed- but my data is there (lots of it) and I believe in the work and that it has something original to say.
Getting psyched up for long hours in the library/ at the kitchen table....

Ohh @Gingerwarthog the finish line is so close for you now!! Exciting and terrifying I'm sure!!

Part of me doesn't really want it to finish.

Lit analysis

The problem with writing the lit review chapter is I keep finding interesting new research reports that I want to include..

And one paper leads to another and then another and before I know it I'm down a rabbit hole!

Yes this is definitely the problem.
Also I have 3 different spreadsheets and there is some overlap so I get stuck on where to put things.

Have now decided total re-write rather than re-draft of lit review is needed....

I've been sort of telling myself I will need to rewrite mine all the way along, which makes motivation to write it in the first place a bit lacking.

So, I suppose I'm trying to say I think your way is better, even if it is annoying

I'm trying to break it down into manageable chunks and be 'strategic' as my supervisor would say...
However I don't naturally work like that.
Aiming to complete this chapter by Sunday evening if I don't get distracted by another paper/ book.

I got my lit analysis done, so today I want to see how much I get done of a book chapter I need to revise.

Good luck with that. Have done a couple of hours at the kitchen table re-drafting the lit review. Not much research done in my field so ending up quoting myself.
