Hey

I would really appreciate some advice please.

166cm
94kg
BMI approx 35

Recent heavy weight gain in my legs and seem to be getting out of control, can easily put on 7lbs on a weekend if I drink wine and eat crisps.

Given up drinking and decided to cut carbs, I have downloaded an app that says I can have 24g of carbs a day - do you think this sounds right?

Today I’ve had cheese omelette and 1 slice of smoked bacon for breakfast

Lunch - 2 home made cheese muffins (made with 2 eggs cheese onion and milk which I baked) total calories 670 with 15g carbs ( I made 6 and had two for lunch with a quarter bag of bistro salad leaves)

Tonight I have fish with vegetables

I’ve had 700mls squash
3 black coffees (no sugar or sweetener)

I have some seafood sticks for later if I’m hungry but to be honest I wasn’t hungry today and only had lunch at 17.00 (breakfast was at 9.30)

Am I on the right track ladies/gents?

Many Thanks

The amount of carbohydrate you 'should' eat will depend entirely on the diet plan you're following! 24g per day does sound pretty low, however.

The other thing that's important to understand is that a low carb diet should be a high fat diet. So you should be eating food in these proportions:

high fat : medium protein : low carbohydrate

... which means that you should have been using plenty of fat to make your omelette (frying in butter, possibly adding some cheese), and putting an oily dressing on your salad - possibly also with some mayo.

No 'light' or low fat anything!

You also need to drink plenty of water - at least 2 litres - and squash isn't a good idea. You haven't said what type it is, so it's either full of sugar and/or full of artificial sweeteners.

Thank you for all the information it’s really helpful!

low sugar squash, I’m having a hard time finding zero sugar in the supermarket!

I had cheese and cooked in butter this morning!

As far as I know, the only zero sugar squash you'll find is PLJ

Why don't you head over to the Low Carb Bootcamp topic? Look at any of the Bootcamp threads and the spreadsheet, which is always linked to in the OP, and have a read of the resources on there? (Look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet).

I'd also recommend https://www.dietdoctor.com The Diet Doctor website, as there's loads of information here, and it's all written in very accessible language.
