Egg fast

Hi,

This is follow up from previous thread (with permission) I lost 2 stone based on below rules and wasmaintaining and having one egg day week. But I have put on a stone as stopped having my egg fast, didn't follow the rules and yummy carbs took over!

I need a kick up the bum to get restarted anyone else in?

This is from Stunt nuns previous thread. I have based the rules on Jimmy Moore's Eggfest. Please note that this is an experimental fast and may not be suitable for people with underlying health conditions. It is intended for people that are already following a low carb - high fat diet and are trying to break a stall or lose the last few pounds to reach their goal weight.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor or nutritionist. If you follow this fast and have any issues at all such as feeling unwell then seriously consider stopping the fast immediately. Alternatively wait until a few of us have tried it first!

THE RULES

  1. Eat at least six eggs per day
This is not a calorie-restricted diet so eat to fullness.
  1. Buy the best quality eggs you can
Free range eggs may contain more omega 3 fats and vitamin D.
  1. Eat one tablespoon of butter per egg
Coconut oil, olive oil and mayo may also be used.
  1. You may add up to one ounce of cheese per egg if desired
Make sure your cheese is low carb.
  1. Drink as much water as you can: at least 2-4 litres MINIMUM
Black or bulletproof coffee, black tea, green tea and herbal tea can be added if required.
  1. Add salt and keep taking your usual vitamins (if taken)
Consider extra magnesium and potassium to prevent cramps. If you suffer from constipation then flaxseed may help.
  1. Exercise daily
Even a short walk will help maintain lean muscle mass.
  1. Eat three meals a day; if not hungry eat one egg
Your appetite will be reduced but keep eating to preserve lean muscle mass.
  1. Follow the egg fast for three days; five days may give better results
You will be sick of eggs by the third day.
  1. Transition back to your normal diet E.g. the day after eat two egg meals and one normal meal (whatever you usually eat), the day after that eat one egg meal and two normal meals. Consider keeping on eating at least two eggs a day to maintain the effects of the fast. There is a blogger who has recently done an egg fast (i breathe im hungry) and she has come up with some fab meals using eggs butter and various cheeses. I intend following her receipes for the first couple of days.

Anyone up for joining me?

Have a big bowl of egg mayonnaise to dip into today, I can do boring/repetitive very well!
Previously - devilled eggs, and baked egg custards have been favourites

Roygrace · 24/04/2016 15:30

My massive lunch means I not starving whilst shopping this afternoon. Boiled eggs in chill bag. I adore not being ravenous!

I really want to join you. I lost 25 pounds on the last boot camp but have been struggling to keep going. I am 5'9" and 165. I would like to lose another stone + for my wedding in 8 weeks. I originally wanted to get to 140 but that won't happen now. I'm vegetarian so egg fast is perfect for me! However, in the last two weeks I've probably been low carb on only half the days and have been chain scoffing chocolate chips today. Would I be better off trying to get back to being low carb for a week before doing the egg fast?

FoodPorn · 24/04/2016 16:05

p.s. I have been stalking your thread since the beginning wanting to sign up but struggling to put down the pizza Grin

cardoon · 24/04/2016 16:15

How does carb flu hit you? I'm pretty unaffected by it so find the egg/fat fast the quickest way to get back into ketosis.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/04/2016 16:15

Six eggs a day wouldn't fill me up. Eggs are about 80 calories each so I. Not suprised people lose weight if that's all they eat. If I have a cheese omelette for lunch if I just use three eggs im starving a short while later.

cardoon · 24/04/2016 16:21

You can have as many eggs as you need plus 1oz cheese per egg plus a tablespoon of butter or mayo per egg. You'll soon find you don't need very many eggs Grin

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/04/2016 16:23

I have three chickens and lots of eggs! Maybe I will try this.

MissBeaHaving · 24/04/2016 17:08

Cardoon do you have a recipe for the baked egg custard?

cardoon · 24/04/2016 17:24

I use this one but didn't bother with the topping and used vanilla in place of caramel. Artificial sweetener not ideal but quite welcome under the circumstances...

MissBeaHaving · 24/04/2016 17:28

Thanks,that looks so good!
I've got all the ingredients here, might try it made with a bit of xylitol tomorrow.

BIWI · 24/04/2016 17:32

WhoTheFuck - I think it's the additional fat that keeps you full.

Although, to be totally honest, if you're properly fat-adapted (which you would be if you've been low carbing), even just one egg should be enough!

Roygrace · 24/04/2016 18:59

I eat loads of eggs more than recommended (the expensive ones too) and I tried to cut down due to cost and couldn't.

Eat as many as you like!

I'm in! Today is day three (although yesterday I was out for lunch with a client and had chicken and avacado salad) and I'm down 3 pounds! I've been low carbing for a while and not lost anything for a month or so due to the inclusion of wine, too many nuts and the odd coffee shop cappuccino). I'm planning on doing this at least a couple of weekdays until my holidays in July, completely stop nuts (cause I eat the lot no matter how big the bag).

Fourarmsv2 · 04/05/2016 20:12

TTHTRJ - Aldi do a teeny bag of nuts and seeds. Usually they're near the tills. About 20p IIRC.

I am also a whole bag of nuts addict...

Roygrace · 27/10/2016 17:00

Eggy fasters how you doing.

I am at goal weight. Mainly doing low carb, one kick ass egg day and then one cheat day.maintaing 9 7 at 5 6. Just need to keep going. Every time I takes my eye off the ball, my jeans get tight! I suppose I need to realise I can never eat everything I like unless I want to be back at 12 stone!

Bad day yesterday, cake, poppadums, you name it soo egg fast day

Lunch - boiled eggs with mayo
Tea cheesy omelette
Breakfast was bulletproof coffee
