Egg fast

Roygrace · 18/04/2016 11:52

Hi,

This is follow up from previous thread (with permission) I lost 2 stone based on below rules and wasmaintaining and having one egg day week. But I have put on a stone as stopped having my egg fast, didn't follow the rules and yummy carbs took over!

I need a kick up the bum to get restarted anyone else in?

This is from Stunt nuns previous thread. I have based the rules on Jimmy Moore's Eggfest. Please note that this is an experimental fast and may not be suitable for people with underlying health conditions. It is intended for people that are already following a low carb - high fat diet and are trying to break a stall or lose the last few pounds to reach their goal weight.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor or nutritionist. If you follow this fast and have any issues at all such as feeling unwell then seriously consider stopping the fast immediately. Alternatively wait until a few of us have tried it first!

THE RULES

  1. Eat at least six eggs per day
This is not a calorie-restricted diet so eat to fullness.
  1. Buy the best quality eggs you can
Free range eggs may contain more omega 3 fats and vitamin D.
  1. Eat one tablespoon of butter per egg
Coconut oil, olive oil and mayo may also be used.
  1. You may add up to one ounce of cheese per egg if desired
Make sure your cheese is low carb.
  1. Drink as much water as you can: at least 2-4 litres MINIMUM
Black or bulletproof coffee, black tea, green tea and herbal tea can be added if required.
  1. Add salt and keep taking your usual vitamins (if taken)
Consider extra magnesium and potassium to prevent cramps. If you suffer from constipation then flaxseed may help.
  1. Exercise daily
Even a short walk will help maintain lean muscle mass.
  1. Eat three meals a day; if not hungry eat one egg
Your appetite will be reduced but keep eating to preserve lean muscle mass.
  1. Follow the egg fast for three days; five days may give better results
You will be sick of eggs by the third day.
  1. Transition back to your normal diet E.g. the day after eat two egg meals and one normal meal (whatever you usually eat), the day after that eat one egg meal and two normal meals. Consider keeping on eating at least two eggs a day to maintain the effects of the fast. There is a blogger who has recently done an egg fast (i breathe im hungry) and she has come up with some fab meals using eggs butter and various cheeses. I intend following her receipes for the first couple of days.

Anyone up for joining me?

I really enjoyed the egg fast when I did it. I ate 23 eggs in three days and lost 2.5 lb!

Roygrace · 18/04/2016 12:09

Ha ha that some of record what was your menu?

Or just eggs straight?

Laska5772 · 18/04/2016 19:57

ok... maybe.... but what about constipation?

StuntNun · 19/04/2016 06:27

From memory I ate egg in a cup (two boiled eggs mashed with butter using a fork), cream cheese pancakes, scrambled eggs and cheese omelette. I didn't experience any constipation but I did get a mild carb flu from going into ketosis. I was only getting around 10g carbs per day.

Roygrace · 19/04/2016 07:49

I don't get constipation. I'm on day 2 yesterday

2 eggs mashed up in a cup

2 scrambled eggs eith cheese

2 poached eggs with butter

2.2 down today but the best thing is eggs fill you up so much and I adore those burfurd brown eggs. Slightly dearer but oh man to die for

Today

I am having 6 eggs with cheese and butter for lunch as got packed afternoon and I know this will fill me up and I won't have cravings for rubbish and will have energy for metafit tonight.

Up the eggs!!!

Gosh I remember doing this diet about 30 years ago.

reup · 19/04/2016 07:55

So is it 3 meals a day plus eggs?

hejsvejs · 19/04/2016 07:59

I'm in! I'm starting he egg fast today.

mimolette · 19/04/2016 08:20

How long do you do it for? It says three days, but presumably it took a lot longer to lose 2stone ?!

Roygrace · 19/04/2016 09:02

I honestly done 6 egg days then a kind of cheat day then right back on it and it took me 9 weeks

OP posts:
mimolette · 19/04/2016 09:19

Oh, wow, I don't think I have that kind of staying power (or love of eggs!). Do you think doing two or three days a week of eggs along with a broadly low carb diet would work? I have been trying to low carb for a couple of weeks now but think I need to step up the game a bit...

ProfYaffle · 19/04/2016 09:31

reup - no, the eggs replace meals.

Roygrace · 19/04/2016 10:31

Hej

How's it going

What was brekkie?

OP posts:
hejsvejs · 19/04/2016 11:50

Haven't had breakfast yet as I've decided to only eat when hungry, and I haven't felt hungry yet.

But I'm planning to drink egg-milk (my favourite) and if I'm still hungry after that I'll boil a couple of eggs.

What are you having?

Roygrace · 19/04/2016 12:03

Jeez what's egg milk (boak) sounds lovely

I've just had 6 scraped egg with cheese and am full to the brim and full of beans!!

hejsvejs · 19/04/2016 12:05

Haha, it's actually really nice!

Crack an egg in a tall mug, add a tbsp of coconut oil (and a tsp of coconut powder if you wish). Mix with hand blender and keep mixing while adding hot water.

Then a tiny bit of cream (optional) and it's a really yummy hot drink!

AntiHop · 19/04/2016 12:12

I've recently returned to low carbing after putting on about a stone and a half after having my baby (sleep deprivation led me to reach for the sugar, especially when u returned to work). I might give this a try but I do get constipation easily due to ibs.

MissBeaHaving · 19/04/2016 23:35

RoyGrace I'm also a lover of Burford Browns,I'm also partial to a Cotswold Legbar now & again.
On Ocado at the moment they are doing a mixed box for £1 with 1 each of Burford brown,Burford blush,Cotswold Legbar & Leghorn white.
I came across these eggs a few years ago & agree that once you've tasted them you can really notice the difference in taste with other eggs,I now even eat them slightly hard boiled with a bit of salt, food of the gods!

Roygrace · 20/04/2016 06:25

Oh myord rushes to ocado hoe come do cheap?

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 20/04/2016 06:33

I might give this a go. I've been LC for 4 weeks and lost 10lbs but I'm slipping a bit and could do with a little kick up the backside.

MissBeaHaving · 20/04/2016 07:58

They are on offer at the moment as they are new,I've stocked up as best as dates will allow.
The Burford blush are stunning!
