The High Fat Diet: How to Lose 10lb in 14 Days, article in the Times on Saturday

Has anyone seen this? It looks interesting and from a new book released in a couple of weeks. DH and I need to do something to lose a few pounds and it particularly appeals to me as it is supposed to be good for losing belly fat.

I don't know how different it is to other LCHF plans though.

I also need to think through what DD, who is 7, could eat. Breakfast she could have her usual and lunches mostly at school so eating with us in the evening should be OK.

www.highfatdiet.co.uk or try amazon

Zana did a long chat with smashthefat about the diet and how it works here:

And here's an overview of the workout!

Belin that must be really tricky!

Day 2 of the blitz for me today and I've made a half portion of lunch because I really didn't fancy anything. Don't know if that's partly because I've got a cold/flu thing which might be messing with my appetite as well.

Definitely sticking with it though as I've lost 4 or 5 pounds already and can feel my stomach is smaller!

Hi am starting this today and wondered how you all got on ? and if you think it is worth it as it seems so different from how I usually eat. But as I need to loose a stone I think it is worth tying a totally different approach.

yumyumpoppycat · 25/02/2015 09:50

I am interested to hear if it worked and how things went after the 10 days too lala. I think there is a high fat option on biwis bootcamp I guess that might be worth a look? I have done low carb a few times and ended up with side effects, but I have never consciously ate a lot of fat, i wonder if I would feel different on it?

sweetiepie1979 · 25/02/2015 15:46

I started on Monday missed the 4 day pre bit because I've done low carb before. I am totally confused with the book though and I feel like I am in diet hell! Help!

miffy49 · 25/02/2015 17:16

I was stupid enough to buy the book! All shes done is to cherry pick bits out of everyone else's LC plans, many of which are available for free! She just makes it all unnecessarily complicated. Go on the MNet LC pages or the Diet Doctor and get a much simpler version free.

Most LC plans now advocate moderate protein and plenty of fat so its nothing new. The extra fat does keep you full and improves the burning of body fat. You wont get your body to burn its own fat if you don't give it the fat to start with. You do need to drink loads of water too though or you will effectively turn of the fat burning process. You need to wash out the ketones you produce.

If you want to invest in a LC book try the Idiot Proof Diet and the IPD cook book. Excellent value and lots of common sense.

BIWI · 25/02/2015 19:47

BIWI's Bootcamp is always high fat - it's never an option!

yumyumpoppycat · 25/02/2015 20:35

Grin oops sorry! Is it uber bootcamp I am thinking of? will check before I slur your name further Grin

lalamumto3 · 26/02/2015 09:50

High thanks for the tips I will look at those.

I am really struggling to get my mind round the high fatness of the diet, but am going to really try hard to stick with it as it.

Thanks again

BIWI · 26/02/2015 12:48

yum ALL of Bootcamp is high fat - even ubercamp. Ubercamp is dairy free and very low carb.

BIWI · 26/02/2015 12:49

lalamumto3 - it's really hard to get your head around the idea of a high fat diet - but rest assured, there isn't any actual proof that saturated fat causes heart disease!

miffy49 · 26/02/2015 14:13

It is weird at the start. You tend to feel a bit scared of piling it on your plate! We have all been brainwashed by the low fat brigade and it was all down to poor research policies way back in the 60s. Fat keeps you full and stops you craving sugar. I have been LC now for around 4yrs and I have made significant improvements to my health. I wouldn't eat any other way now. It is hard in the beginning though as the giants of the food industry are still clinging to the last threads of the low fat philosophy because it brings in more money so you get bombarded with scare stories. There are lots of people out there who are making a lot of money out of us getting fatter and sicker, both the food industry and the big pharmaceutical companies. Its not in their interests for you to find a way out of the trap!

Hi, just popping back to update, I did the first 4 days of pre diet and an now on day 5 of the main diet. I have been going to the gym, where I am doing the short routine from the book most days. I have followed it more strictly than any diet ever before. I have lost an amazing 8.5 lbs already and I can actually see a difference in myself.
I tend to have the breakfast late morning and then have dinner in the evening. I am finding I am so full from breakfast I don't want lunch. I was very sceptical, but wanted to try something new and I think because it is so different from how I used to eat it has really worked for me.
Hope that helps if any one else is thinking about it.

yumyumpoppycat · 03/03/2015 11:36

Wow well done that's almost a lb a day!! thanks for updating this. Can I ask what sort of meals you have been eating ?

lalamumto3 · 03/03/2015 19:31

Breakfast : Eggs (tend to do scrambled with butter) and advocado or eggs, fish and advocado, today I ate at lunch time and added 20g of watercress

Lunch not every day, quite often I skip lunch, but something like ham, salad and advocado

Dinner typically : Salmon, green beans, then straightaway a desert of Marcasapone with a splash of coffee and some nuts

I found it was too much to have all the fats with my dinner but splitting it works much better for me

I also have 1 coffee with a tablespoon ofdouble cream each day and have been taking a multi vitamin.

I have been totally strict with myself, as I am seeing results and really want to loose it this time and keep it off. I have about another half stone that I really want to loose, but if I am still going okay I will try for 10 to 14 lbs. I'm just really happy to be doing up my clothes easily !

Hope that helps .

yumyumpoppycat · 03/03/2015 19:44

Thank you so much that is really helpful...I better stock up on avocados. mascarpone sounds interesting too Grin

Well done sticking with it, must be really rewarding seeing lbs drop off.

lalamumto3 · 12/03/2015 09:10

Hi just a quick update, just in case it offers encouragement.

I have been doing for 2 1/2 weeks and have now lost 12 lbs, I have found I am much better getting most of my fat from avocados rather than dairy and I tend to just have breakfast and dinner, with a coffee with a little cream mid afternoon. I really don't feel hungry, but get a little light headed and the coffee seems to stop this. Any advice on this welcomed ?

I think for me personally I am much better with a strict diet, it helps to stop me cheating :)

I have gone from 11 stone to 10 stone 2, I am short so still 5 lbs off a healthy BMI. I have also gone to the gym and have done weight related exercises for about 30 mins most days. I feel so much better for doing it though and can really see why I put the weight on which is good.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/03/2015 17:41

That is really amazing Shock well done!

Norfolkandchance1234 · 19/04/2015 19:12

So is one small potato ok to have on low carb or is that a real no no?

I just had lamb, baked celery and couldn't help but have a couple of slices of potato braised in stock that I'd made for everyone else.

I had sugar free raspberry jelly for pud, I feel nice and full but not bloated.

Fretfulparent · 21/04/2015 23:53

Well done everyone.
Can you do this diet if you are vegetarian?
