Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp. Bootcamp Light?

Morning all. Definitely autumnal this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet:

This week sees 'the parting of the ways' - you can move onto Bootcamp Light if you wish, which means that you no longer have to have breakfast if you'd prefer not to (which means, in essence, that you'll be introducing intermittent fasting to the process). You can also now add in some fruit (mainly berries), some nuts and seeds and some alcohol.

However, the clear watchword is 'caution'! Check out the carb counts for fruit and nuts on the spreadsheet (or on the back of the packets) before you add them to every meal. Go easy with the alcohol, and stick to clear spirits and dry wine - in moderation.

Also beware that it is very, very common in weeks 3 and 4 for weight loss to falter, or even stop. Another reason to go easy if you move onto Bootcamp Light! This is perfectly normal, so KOKO and things will get going again soon.

You may, if it's been working for you and you're happy with it, stay on Bootcamp rather than moving onto Bootcamp Light. Just make sure that you're getting plenty of veg/salad, so that you're optimising your nutrition.

If you prefer, you can take the hybrid approach, so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Good luck everyone! Flowers

I'm feeling hungry on this bootcamp and I'm sure I shouldn't be by this stage. What am I doing wrong? I'm addding fat left right and centre

BIWI · 21/10/2026 11:54

Are you drinking all the water? Are you eating enough overall?

I had a hungry day yesterday and ate too much - nothing unhealthy but just portion sizes that weren’t reasonable eg too many chicken wings. So I haven’t weighed today because I know I would be annoyed at the figure on the scales. More on track today and I’m planning a chorizo and chicken recipe for dinner tonight.

Almahart · 21/10/2026 16:05

Loads of water. Perhaps I'm not eating enough, not a familiar concern

SprinklesofRain · 21/10/2026 17:04

I'm getting hungry too, in the usual danger spot of after work. But my lunches seem pretty substantial and I am drinking lots of water through the day.

BIWI · 21/10/2026 18:03

Why not list out for me what you've been eating/drinking over the last few days, and let me see if there's anything I can help with?

Thanks BIWI. I actually can't remember yesterday but today I had yoghurt and berries for breakfast, a very late lunch at about 4 of prawn curry with three hard boiled eggs and loads of yoghurt, which dud actually fill me up, then a slice of srsly toast with butter and marmite. Snacks were a handful of walnuts and also a hot chocolate made with almond milk and dr oetker cocoa powder. Am hungry again now

Almahart · 21/10/2026 21:41

Can I also check, chia is ok for BC light isn't it? Haven't got any at the moment but I like it for breakfast

Jumperorcardi · Yesterday 13:56

After a fab first week, I have gone up 1 1/2 lbs .
So back to bootcamp light for me;
FFGY
Scrambled Eggs
Cottage pie with celariac mash and lots of green veg
Lots of water

BIWI · Yesterday 14:09

Yes @Almahart chia seeds are fine.

I'm wondering if you need to restrict your eating to 3 meals, rather than adding in snacks? Remember, every time you eat, you're raising your insulin levels. I assume there was plenty of fat in your curry as well?

Sounds like a good plan @Jumperorcardi! Weeks 3 and 4 are hard ...

Had friends staying over the weekend and was delighted to treat them to chia pudding for Monday breakfast, with berries and nuts. Also almond flour muffins with oven roast tomatoes in olive oil and some hot smoked trout.

Mostly keeping with strict bootcamp, except for chia/berries a couple of times a week. However it's a grandchild's birthday and I expect it will be difficult to avoid having a piece of cake - but it will be a small one.

I made a lamb curry in the slow cooker this evening including coconut cream and a good amount of veg. It proved very popular with the family (who had it with rice and naan). I’ve lost nothing so far this week according to the scales but can at least say I tried as hard as I could
