Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp. Bootcamp Light?

BIWI · 19/10/2026 08:36

Morning all. Definitely autumnal this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gsWvWpGzTSJld1avBi9-uLJveFZes9Qa2ORKthPMl8E/edit?gid=352445486#gid=352445486

This week sees 'the parting of the ways' - you can move onto Bootcamp Light if you wish, which means that you no longer have to have breakfast if you'd prefer not to (which means, in essence, that you'll be introducing intermittent fasting to the process). You can also now add in some fruit (mainly berries), some nuts and seeds and some alcohol.

However, the clear watchword is 'caution'! Check out the carb counts for fruit and nuts on the spreadsheet (or on the back of the packets) before you add them to every meal. Go easy with the alcohol, and stick to clear spirits and dry wine - in moderation.

Also beware that it is very, very common in weeks 3 and 4 for weight loss to falter, or even stop. Another reason to go easy if you move onto Bootcamp Light! This is perfectly normal, so KOKO and things will get going again soon.

You may, if it's been working for you and you're happy with it, stay on Bootcamp rather than moving onto Bootcamp Light. Just make sure that you're getting plenty of veg/salad, so that you're optimising your nutrition.

If you prefer, you can take the hybrid approach, so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Good luck everyone! Flowers

Morning all, a good start to bootcamp with 4lbs off. It was 5lbs but I am up a 1 lb from yesterday, which always seems to happen for me after a weekend, as I just seem to eat larger portions as it is more social.

We are skiing over New Year and in January, I really want to be slimmer in my ski stuff.

I hope everyone has a good week

Thesoundofmusic23 · 19/10/2026 09:08

Forgive me for I have sinned!

I was sick at the end of last week and only carbs seemed at all appealing to eat so I fell completely off the wagon. I’m back on again now and sticking to strict for at least one more week to compensate for the slip. Starting this week most of the way back to where I was originally but body shape definitely changing.

Encouragingly I had a lovely whoosh early last week so I’m hoping I’ll get back there over the next few days.

SprinklesofRain · 19/10/2026 09:24

1lb off for me, but I did have a big slip-up last week (one day only) and it took a couple of days for the regained lb to come back off again IYSWIM (was 1lb down on Weds, went off-piste on Thurs, put the lb back on and it took till Sun to get it back off again). Have had a few berries, seeds and nuts in my yogurt this morning but that will be it for those for today.

Decemberly · 19/10/2026 09:34

I managed 1.4lb off, which is nothing short of a miracle as we had to go to a few things on Saturday with food involved and they were certainly not low carb 😅 anyway, it’s a new week! Well done everyone on results to far 👏🏻

Sorry @BIWI I think I have deleted the formula on the spreadsheet in the cell for my result 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I have only just entered my loss for this week, there’s no other calculations. Thank you for organising us all!

Castlerigg · 19/10/2026 09:38

0.2 lb gain for me, which I’m kicking myself for, because I pushed my luck and I knew it at the time. No massive binges, just a latte or two, a couple of custard creams, and absolutely zero water.

I’ve prepared my work lunches for the next few days - made tuna mayo, boiled up a few eggs, and grabbed a handful of peperamis and babybels. I must remember to get some cream for my coffee too.

BIWI · 19/10/2026 09:40

@Decemberly I'll leave that to @FinallyHere to sort out!

These 'blips' that we're talking about here - did you enjoy them? Doesn't sound like you're enjoying the consequences though!

Remember - low carbing (and Bootcamp especially) is pretty unforgiving.

OP posts:
SprinklesofRain · 19/10/2026 09:45

I did enjoy mine, but it isn't worth the consequences.

KellyOnAHeli · 19/10/2026 09:54

4lbs off for me and im
very surprised but happy about that. It seems that all my moaning about not being able to loose weight in perimenopause was just an excuse. When I eat the right foods the weight comes off.

BIWI · 19/10/2026 10:05

Brilliant @KellyOnAHeli ❤

Castlerigg · 19/10/2026 10:09

Well I did enjoy the custard creams tbh, but not that much - I knew the consequences, and here they are 😩 So I’m not doing Lite, I’m doing proper BC and being strict about it.

Well done @KellyOnAHeli!

Almahart · 19/10/2026 10:28

I haven't weighed today but clothes are definitely looser and I feel like I'm in the zone.

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast and glugging lots of water

Goodiewhemper · 19/10/2026 10:52

Good morning everyone. I am 2.8kg (6.2lbs) down and delighted with myself. This moves me from obese to overweight (I know bmi is outdated but I still feel this shift gives me a great psychological boost). I must now remember this is a marathon not a sprint and slow steady continuous loss will win the race. I would love to get down to below 78kg by next week so I think I will postpone BC lite for another day or two.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 19/10/2026 11:25

1.5lb loss this morning for me. Definitely moving on to bootcamp lite as I can’t face plain yogurt anymore!

BoredtoRushed · 19/10/2026 12:15

Hi All. Realised I messed up my weigh in with a school boy error- measured on carpet instead of hard floor so corrected that. The weight loss is certainly more realistic!

Eat mostly veggie so added in nuts last week. Don’t know if it slowed weight loss down

InMyLowCarbEra · 19/10/2026 12:52

I’ve had an epic fail of a week. It started with 24 hours of work events where I had no control over the food available and then that led to a case of the fuck-its, then I tried really hard to get back on track this weekend but felt unwell and didn’t have the motivation. It could have been worse though and I am determined to do better this week. Half term so I’m working from home and have meal planned and have a shop being delivered today. Planning chicken and avo salad for lunch and using some leftover pork in a creamy chorizo sauce with courgetti and spinach for dinner.

SprinklesofRain · 19/10/2026 18:07

I have reached the point (it always happens around now) where I am hungry but I don’t feel like eating any more meat, fish or eggs, so I am off to browse veggie low carb recipes. This always happens to me, I tend in non BC times to have fairly small portions of all the above and fill up on carbs so the bigger portions of protein needed feel like a bit of an overdose after a while. I also tend to have just a bit of toast in the evening sometimes so I am going to try the almond flour bread this week.

BoredtoRushed · 19/10/2026 18:13

@Goodiewhemper I’ve made the almond bread. It’s super tasty. Thank you!

SprinklesofRain · 19/10/2026 18:37

Right, lots of good ideas found and I have a fridge full of various cheeses, and lots of veg so I have screenshotted a few things to try. Just need to buy some more cream to do the cauliflower cheese, I’d forgotten how nice that is.

Shells · 20/10/2026 07:00

Well done to everyone. Mine has stalled which is normal for me. Will try and keep motivated this week!

Almahart · 20/10/2026 09:21

I've lost another 2.5ibs which I'm pleased with as I cheated last night and had two glasses of prosecco. It was a big birthday for one of my dcs. I definitely feel like I have lost more than that, my face has lost it's puffiness and my clothes feel looser

KellyOnAHeli · 20/10/2026 10:59

I’m thinking I might be one of the people that is quite affected by diary. I’ve had hardly any for the first two weeks, apart from a bit of cheese and my weight loss has got going again. In the lead up to bootcamp I was having FF cottage cheese several times a week, as well as FFGY, and I wasn’t losing anything even though I was doing low carb.

BIWI · 20/10/2026 11:46

Enjoyed a salad last night, made with the last of ripened tomatoes (sadly there are fair few still on the plants that clearly aren't going to redden now Sad)

A dish we came across in San Sebastian a couple of years ago:

  • Slice tomatoes and arrange on a plate; sprinkle with sea salt and leave for a few minutes for the juices to release
  • Add some thinly sliced red onion on the top
  • Add some canned tuna (the best quality you can find/afford)
  • Top with a few pickled chillies
  • Dress with a good quality extra virgin olive oil and a little vinegar (red or white wine - not balsamic)
It was lovely. DH and DS had theirs with some boiled new potatoes in butter, and I had a green salad with a Basque dressing. (I think the recipe for the dressing is in the Low Carb Bootcamp Recipe topic)
OP posts:
BIWI · 20/10/2026 11:47

Yes it is!

Basque salad dressing

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder (I used garlic granules)
  • 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise (this is 4 fl oz; I used Sainsbury's Real Mayo)
  • 1 hard-boiled egg finely chopped
Mix everything together and chill till you're ready to serve. This quantity made enough for a head of Romaine lettuce (with a fair bit left over). It's very strong/garlicky, so I served the dressing on the side for people to add their own, but if making it for us, I'd use it to dress the leaves.

Daily weighing most days and this morning I’m a pound and half under where I was at the end of week one - so back on track after my lapse 🙌. Definitely thinking about fruit and one my kids toasted hot cross buns yesterday which nearly finished me 🤣 but I am koko! How’s everyone else doing - especially those who also lapsed?
