June 2025 Low Carb Bootcamp week 3

Two weeks of bootcamp and we should be well in the swing of it now.

Here is the spreadsheet for those who want to add their details.

Typically after 2 strict weeks there's the option to move to bootcamp lite (vegetarians may have already been following this version). The details are on one of the tabs on the spreadsheet. Essentially it allows the addition of a few berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) which means prettybird can eat her strawberry from her water glass at the end of each day without breaking any rules Grin You can also add in a few seeds, nuts or nut products - so the almond muffins are back on the menu, or a little bit of homemade granola (Rose Elliot does a great low carb version). The carb counts for different nuts are also on the spread sheet - they vary a lot, so avoid cashews. You can also have some alcohol - clear spirits with soda, dry red/white wine, or champagne are lowest carb. No liquers, cokctails, cider or beer - all have a high sugar content.

However, with all of the above, you have to be sparing. If you have fruit and nuts and alcohol every day... well we all know where that take us!

This is only a short bootcamp, so I'm going to pretty much stay with the strict version although I'm going to stay with a friend mid-week so will go with the flow a little more then.

Also, week 3 and 4 can sometimes see a smaller weight loss as our bodies have adjusted to this way of eating, so don't be despondent if you don't feel you're making as much progress, stick with the rules, and remember to drink all the water!

0.7lb off for me today. Not a lot, but I'm not expecting dramatic losses, and I'm mostly glad that it's going in the right direction.

B - coffee with cream
L - chicken caeser salad with homemade dressing, and added anchovies and black olives
D - more of the delicious kegderee with spiced cauliflower rice and boiled egg (and some leeks, mange-tout and green beans)

Have a good Sunday!

Good morning.
Just replying from the last thread @Just4June

I'm LOVING my salads. Wednesday had a paneer one with a yogurty dressing, and a Greek one on Thursday; but mainly I'm wanting leaves. Lots of delicious rocket.
Sometimes w a hard boiled egg or avocado or some courgette fried in butter or some asparagus.

So many delicious healthy things at this time of year!

Good luck for weigh day, everyone

Edited the autocorrect that changed paneer to panda, which might have tasted interesting!

Just4June · 15/06/2025 08:53

Those sound delicious @RockyRogue1001

Happy weigh in ladies.
I think i have survived the weekend and my two bbqs. No breadbuns, potatoes or pasta salads, still managed to fill up on different salads, but I did have some white wine and soda. Not brilliant nutritionally but haven't broken the carb bank. I also noticed what a low tolerance of alcohol I now have! I think if I'd had bread in, I'd have been tempted to have toast when I got in, but none there so all ok.
I have quite a few leftover meals in the freezer now so this week is looking ok for evening meals. Looking forward to a bit of fruit.

Just4June · 15/06/2025 12:59

@YourFairCyanReader don't forget about rhubarb (which is actually a veg) - although it is sour, stewed up with ginger and then mixed (cold) with ffgy and double cream makes a lovely rhubarb fool. I sometimes add orange zest and a couple of strawberry when I'm cooking it.

One of my favourite jokes...
The difference between knowledge and wisdom: knowledge is that rhubarb is a vegetable and tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing which one to serve with custard Grin

😂
Thanks that's a nice idea.

Cauliflower kedgeree. I added too much chilli and it was a bit spicy!

A bit left over for tomorrow

Near as damned it stayed the same weight this week, which belies the reality that I put on and lost 3lbs! Not sure what was happening but hopefully this means I’m on the right track from
now on. Good luck for the week ahead all.

FinallyHere · 15/06/2025 23:11

0.8lb for me this week, daily weighing continues. Saw a small rise for the first time this week, reminded myself it was an entirely natural fluctuation and am glad to be able report I did not feel tempted or even driven into a fuckitt mentality as used to happy all.the.time anytime I weighed myself. And finished the week 0.8 down

in this context I just need to remind myself that I cannot directly control my weight, just need to stick to bootcamp and trust the process. All good

thank you lovely people for your company and @Just4June for this bootcamp.

CleanQueen123 · 16/06/2025 06:40

No shift for me this week but I will admit that Friday ended up with alcohol and no dinner so I wasn't expecting miracles. Straight back on the wagon Saturday. I might ubercamp for three days next week. I'd really like to get myself at or under 11 and a half stone.

JumpingintoJune · 16/06/2025 07:00

2lb off , which I’m very pleased with

Just4June · 16/06/2025 11:47

Good to see people's progress, whether it is weight loss, learning lessons or developing new habits.

I made an egg 'wrap': grated courgette, grated cheese and 2 eggs. Spread it out on greaseproof paper on a baking tray, covered it with more paper and baked for about 15 minutes. Once cold I put ham and avocado on it and rolled it up like a wrap. Isuppose it waas sort of like a thin omelette but being thin it didn't taste of egg. The other half is left for tomorrow.

Brunch: coffee with cream; ham and avocado 'wrap'
D - summer vegetable soup; cauliflower cheese

Ready to roll...

That's interesting. I keep seeing wrap alternatives. The other one I've seen is thinly sliced courgette, or yesterday's gem was sliced gherkins. You know the kind you get in jars for sandwiches. It looked tempting.

JumpingintoJune · 16/06/2025 20:27

That wrap looks good , I have crochet club tomorrow ( 5-30 til 8 ) a bit of a daft time really , I was planning a late lunch and some cheese when I get home
I might give that a go for lunch

we had roast chicken tonight , with the Bootcamp cauliflower cheese and fine beans , there’s plenty of chicken left for a filling

How on earth do you roll a gherkin? Mini rolls with a wee bit of cheese and a sliver of ham?

You made two "slices" by putting a layer of grated cheese, sliced gherkins, grated cheese and grilling it. Then sandwiched filling between your two slices. So a proper sandwich rather than a wrap.

Goodiewhemper · 17/06/2025 06:19

Good morning. I am down .8lb which is a wee bit disappointing but it might be due to the glass or two of prosecco I had in Friday evening along with my little indulgence at lunch earlier in the week.

Based on a recommendation here a few weeks sgo I have started making salad daily with chopped up little gem to which I add celery, cucumber, red pepper, cherry tomatoes and fennel - all tossed in lots of olive oil, apple cider vinegar and a little salt. This has become a daily staple. Yesterday I had it with a piece of poached salmon for lunch. Today it will be with tuna. and a boiled egg.

Dinner this evening will be beef sausage and buttered cabbage.

I found a recipe for quick English muffins online and had a go at the weekend. The result was pretty decent and handy for a quick breakfast fix. You mix everything together and pop it into two ramekinsand cook in the microwave. I decided to make more for the week so I tripled the quantities and baked in the oven instead. I got eight muffins from the recipe. They are delicious but because they have both almonds and peanuts I wouldn't eat too many but they will be handy when I am on the go.

Have a great day everyone.

ChocolateGanache · 17/06/2025 08:48

So am relieved to be down 2.5lbs today. Just need to figure out how to maintain the downward trajectory! I keep getting stuck at the next stone down mark.

Yesterday:l’s food:
B coffee w cream & collagen, 1/2 avocado, artichoke hearts, olives, 2 boiled eggs

L Can of tuna, artichoke hearts, mayo

D Salmon with crunchy home made slaw, sriracha sour cream, cheese, avo

Def need to drink more water!
Off to the gym now.

Keep seeing this online. Looks yummy!

Another little win - BMI now under 30. I know BMI is a bit of a contested topic, but I was deeply annoyed at being in the 'obese' zone.

Great news @Quashsquashwell done!! 🙌

“how to maintain the downward trajectory “

so sympathise with this thought @ChocolateGanache. For what it’s worth, I decided to trust the process of bootcamp , not cheat and follow the rules. It took a good long time and I’m still not quite there but my bmi is now in the healthy range and more importantly I feel great.

day to day, meal to meal, I choose to eat the things that make me feel good, immediately after eating and for day the next 24hrs. by following bootcamp

hope it goes well for you too

Just4June · 17/06/2025 21:02

@Goodiewhemper your salad strategy sounds perfect. Can you share your muffin recipe?

@ChocolateGanache great progress. Don't panic, keep doing what you've being doing. Our physical bodies don't recognise the artificial barriers of 'a stone' that's a psychological barrier. Throw it away, it isn't helping you!

I'm mostly back on intermittent fasting and don't eat from evening untill 11am. Then have brunch, and an evening meal. I'm short and slight boned, so that suits the total number of calories I can eat.

ChocolateGanache · 18/06/2025 06:38

Thanks @FinallyHere& @Just4JuneI do eat incredibly healthily. I am peri and for the last few years have had a sedentary job.

I probably consume more calories than I need I guess, but hate calorie counting.
I feel like I could literally eat nothing but salad and gain weight.

I went to a dietitian specialising in peri women and she said that I should actually eat more, just to massively up my protein & low carb. The food suits me. The idea that fat doesn’t make you fat and you need more protein definitely appeals and stops me snacking.

Trying hard to do more exercise by going to the gym frequently. I have really got into it, but am definitely still a beginner. I’m noticing a difference in my posture that’s for sure… Just need to shift 3 stone still and it’s a bit disheartening when the scales bob up and down.
