Feb '24 Bootcamp - Week 2

Mixed messages so far it would seem - some gains and some losses.

For those of you who are new to Bootcamp, or low carbing, don't be discouraged when others talk about a gain. Remember that some people here are longer-term low carbers, and so they're really 'practising' for the maintenance phase of their lives.

But it's also a useful reminder for all of us (myself included Blush) that this WOE does require focus. Little slips here and there can soon add up!

Anyway. It's the start of a new week, so be pleased by your losses and put any gains behind you.

Onwards and downwards!

Here's the spreadsheet

I've been away all week and just noticed I've slipped down the spreadsheet - could you move me back up please @FinallyHere? I started on Feb 5th. Disappointing first week as I stayed the same but felt better for kicking all the bad habits that crept in over Christmas. Not expecting much tomorrow as most of last week was spent eating in cafes and pubs 😬, though I did what I could and didn't drink much alcohol. Determined to knuckle down for the rest of the month and have kicked the cream in coffee habit, I don't think it was helping. Koko

Made Hairy Bikers diet Chicken Katsu tonight- swapped out breadcrumbs on mine for ground almonds. Had stir fried courgette and leeks instead of rice. The sauce does have some honey in but scaled it back and only a little per person so fingers crossed.

Has anybody ever had a go at making low carb gnocchi? There's a lovely recipe in this month's BBC Good Food magazine that I would love to adapt. But I'm just not sure if celeriac and ground almonds would work as well as potato and flour.

If no-one has had a go, I'll try and have a play, but thought it would be worth asking first!

I have veered way off piste the past couple of weeks for one reason and another, but have decided I need to start making myself a packed breakfast and lunch the night before. I tend to start and end the day well but graze/snack in between and that's period of weakness! I've made breakfast for tomorrow but not really got much to make lunch with. From tomorrow I will try to make extra dinner to have leftovers for lunch. I've been telling myself each day I'll do better but I think it's time to accept that approach isn't working too well and to try something different 😀

@BIWI I've never tried keto gnocchi but would be very interested! On a similar note, does anyone have a good recipe for a low carb scone (sweet or savoury)?

Dh friends celebration of life yesterday was a very emotional affair, but also absolutely beautiful - his wife did so well which is just amazing.

and the food, my goodness the food - it started off so well with the cheeses and meats…….then I was sat next to the table and the mini pork pies just kept sneaking onto my plate.

@pinknsparkly I have made these in the past https://sugarfreelondoner.com/grain-free-english-scones/#recipe
have also savouried them up by adding a load of grated cheese and some grain mustard
I don’t use sweetener ( ever ! )
I wonder if something like that recipe might work if made into quenelles and poached @BIWI for gnocchi maybe adding more egg to make the consistency more gnocchi like

Keto Scones (Almond Flour)

Channel your inner Brit and serve keto scones for afternoon tea!

@QforCucumber pork pies land in my plate / mouth too , I only buy them at Christmas for that very reason
💐

cathyandclaire · 18/02/2024 22:17

I make 'scones' with an egg, grated cheese, baking powder a little mustard, seasoning and ground almonds to make it to scone consistency. I'm irritatingly vague on the quantities sorry!

They are delicious- almost too good!

We really enjoyed GBM this week - although not necessarily for the food Wink

We were 😲😲😲😲 at it this week.

Today is my weigh day, and I knew it would be bad, and it was.
I don't really want to put it on the spreadsheet (I do have my own spreadsheet where I also track my measurements).
Is it ok to keep me on there, and I'll rejoin next week?

I've started from scratch today and had a super strict day with looooooads of water.

Dinner, btw was cabbage carbonara from the new recipe section. Absolutely delicious.

PurpleWhirple · 19/02/2024 07:02

A minuscule loss for me this week, less than a pound. But at least it is that way and not the other

recklessgran · 19/02/2024 07:16

A pathetic half pound off for me. I'm really disappointed but at least it's still in the right direction. I have stuck to the rules food wise but know I haven't been drinking enough water especially when I was away over this last weekend. Must try harder!

Nestnearlyempty · 19/02/2024 07:21

Gah. Back up to 12 st 4 despite hitting 12 2 in the week. Even happy scale is miserable this morning.

definitely got to kick the booze into touch if I am going to do this.

Leedsmum27 · 19/02/2024 07:25

Just to say i’m still with this WOE ( a few slip ups last week but back on track now) but trying not to weigh in so much .

frustratingly hard to make the scales move so instead I am concentrating on how I feel and how clothes fit. Have added extra exercise classes (strength & tone) which I’m really enjoying.

Still following the thread - it really does help , thanks to everyone for such a supportive community.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 19/02/2024 07:52

Also had a tricky week and slipped more than once. Lots going on but planning to get back on it properly this coming week. Tiny loss none the less which I am surprised about but I’ll take. Did hit an all time low on Friday before I fell from grace. I’m ready to koko 🙌

First hotel breakfast of the week today. Bacon, a sausage, scrambled eggs. Tomorrow planning full fat Greek yoghurt, pumpkin seeds, full fat cream cheese and deli meats.

Dinner out at Dishoom tonight so chicken murgh and a salad.

BIWI · 19/02/2024 08:48
