Feb '24 Bootcamp - Week 2

BIWI · 12/02/2024 08:25

Mixed messages so far it would seem - some gains and some losses.

For those of you who are new to Bootcamp, or low carbing, don't be discouraged when others talk about a gain. Remember that some people here are longer-term low carbers, and so they're really 'practising' for the maintenance phase of their lives.

But it's also a useful reminder for all of us (myself included Blush) that this WOE does require focus. Little slips here and there can soon add up!

Anyway. It's the start of a new week, so be pleased by your losses and put any gains behind you.

Onwards and downwards!

Here's the spreadsheet

January 2024 'Dry' Bootcamp

Jan & Feb 24 Original Start Date,Original Weight (lbs),Starting Weight (lbs) 1st Jan 24,Total Loss since original start,% loss since original start,8th Jan Week 2,Weekly Loss,Total Loss this Bootcamp,% loss this Bootcamp,Total Loss since original star...

Well done to everyone for losses, maintenances, lessons learned. I’m a non weigher, but have been feeling much better within myself this week - less stiff in the joints and less tired.

Creamy coffee for breakfast, with some chicken satay skewers.

Glorianna · 12/02/2024 08:36

Thanks for adding me @FinallyHere! For some reason it's showing that I've lost 158.3 lbs in column AP! If you could work your formula magic I would be grateful! Smile

whinsome · 12/02/2024 08:41

Oh, yes, @Whicker I was just popping back to say that someone had mentioned their aching joints disappeared after a few days LC, was that you? ... I've realised mine have gone too! I had been feeling about 20 years older over Christmas, creaky and achey. All gone now, and I might not have made the connection if someone hadn't posted that. 🙏🏼

Jollyholibobs · 12/02/2024 08:47

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI. STS this week for me but actually happy with that as had a serious bought of the fuckitts at the beginning of the week. Back on track now and damage undone.
Thanks to whoever posted the link to the low carb bread a couple of weeks ago. Have just made it and really pleased. It’s bootcamp light though I believe. No point having a try of the too tight ski trousers this week as I’m the same as last week. Can’t imagine I will get into them in two weeks time.

BIWI · 12/02/2024 08:55

Why not have a go at Ubercamp, @Jollyholibobs? Have a look on the spreadsheet tabs for it.

There are three days' worth of meals (with shopping lists) there. One set of meals is for meat-based meals, including eggs. One set is for meat-based meals that doesn't include eggs, and one is for fish-based, including eggs.

They are all carb-counted, so you know that it will be a low-carb day, and I think the most carby day totals 16g carbs. (This obviously doesn't include any carbs from anything you might be drinking).

Just a caveat: I wrote them a long time ago, and have no idea now where the carb counts came from, but take it as a guide.

Morning campers, a new low on the scales today but still only 0.2lb less than I was on 1 Feb after losing and gaining the same lb for almost two weeks! And still not moved down into the next lb bracket - surely 185.something is coming?

I am still KOKO and food and drink have been on point all weekend. We had roast chicken last night and I'm currently making stock from the bones and scraps which I'll turn into soup for lunch. It's so tasty and filling - can't wait. Tea will be chicken fajitas with a SLC wrap and all the fixings.

While I think on, does anyone know how often SLC restock their products? I wanted to buy a load for our hol next week but they are out of stock of the wraps and pizzas I wanted and I'm wondering if they'll get more in in time. Really annoyed as I could have bought them weeks ago and frozen them.

Whicker · 12/02/2024 09:11

Yes that was me@whinsome ! It’s one of my favourite bits of low carb eating! I find the NSVs really motivating, especially when I’m staying away from the scales. Cleaner feeling teeth is another one I sometimes get.

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/02/2024 09:15

I love Mondays and seeing how everyone is getting on!!!
2lb down this week, and takes me to just under where I finished the January BC. Still nowhere near 100% and not eating much, quite worried that when I do get hungry I'll pile lb's back on even if it's BC food 😢
My day off today as I worked Friday last week so going to attempt one of the LC bread recipes from SugarFree Londoner (hopefully not having xantham gum won't be too much of an issue!). It's really for BC-lite but I've been in and out of strict and lite depending on what I've actually been able to eat!
Busy week ahead - should be in the office tomorrow but if I'm still snotty I'm not sharing it out, won't really know until the morning so need to prepare as if I'm going. Then away Friday and Saturday with DD at a uni offer holder day so need to plan for that. Lunchtime train Friday so will pack snacks, need to find somewhere we can both eat in the evening and then a full day Saturday with a late train home so will have to be careful not to just eat rubbish. Before we go Friday DD has yet another blood test - her iron levels are improving but joints are getting worse so investigating the possibility of a connective tissue disorder 🤦. She's being very good but I know it's getting her down and she's permanently shattered.
I'm not bothering to post my meal plan as I haven't actually stuck to it any if the days!!! Have been cooking for DH and DD though, hope everyone has a good week 😊

Thesoundofmusic23 · 12/02/2024 09:18

Following last weeks gain I’m down 3.4lbs this week which I am thrilled with as I’m def BC light at the moment. Also means I am 10 stone something for the first time in about 5 years. Feeling good about keeping on and also trying to gently raise my activity level and sleep well. Def saying off the booze is helping me - notice even one glass of wine takes me off track and makes me feel less clear and energised. This is new territory for me 😉🤔

poorbuthappy · 12/02/2024 09:46

Morning all.
Well I've managed a 4lb loss which I am so pleased with even though I did have wine on Saturday afternoon (no stick pls BIWI 😂)
I firmly believe it's to do with water. Whenever my water intake goes a bit low my general well-being and weight loss dips.
So yes. 13lb since the beg of Jan boot camp.

Thank you @BIWI.

AIBConsiderate · 12/02/2024 09:49

1.8lb on this week, so not quite all of the 2lb loss from the week before wiped out, but almost. It's fiiiiiiine, I don't feel like I've changed anything so I do think it's just one of those things, but I'll be making sure that I'm drinking enough water etc and just see what happens this week.

I've temporarily given in and repotted my hyacinths into lesser pots. I've definitely gone mad now, but they will not get a fancy pot until I break this sodding stone barrier.

Almahart · 12/02/2024 10:02

Down 1.7ibs, pleased with this as I did intentionally have a blow out on Wednesday, so wasn't actually expecting to lose anything

BIWI · 12/02/2024 10:02

@AllTheBlackCoffee stock issues happen fairly regularly with them I'm afraid. I suspect it was something to do with one of their promotional offers that they had recently.

I really like their wraps and sliced bread - the rolls (hotdog, white and wholemeal) I'm less bothered by, but I do have some in the freezer for if/when I fancy something more substantial than the bread.

Good to hear that the scales are moving for you!

Had a loss this week which I’m happy with. Not so happy with the pain I’m still getting after my
tooth extraction, I think it’s dry socket 😭

bluesupermoon · 12/02/2024 10:16

Well done everyone! Small loss here but content with that. Did my meal planning on a different day to normal so am hoping I'll stick to the more interesting things on there (thanks for all the recipe inspiration) and not default to omelette & FLGV by the end of the week, nice as it is!

So sorry to hear that, hope you can get it looked at. Horrific pain day socket!

Made a delicious dip this week with a Lidl hot smoked salmon filet mixed with Creme fraiche, lemon, salt pepper - had for lunch with a Iarge bowl of crudités - total yum.

also a fave meal is stuffed field mushrooms -fry shallots plus any finely cut dryer bc veg - green pepper, fennel, celery etc and then add some finely cut spicy chorizo for couple of mins before stuffing mushrooms and topping with grated Parmesan and herbs. Oven 160-170 fan for 15 mins and delicious! I have two plus salad if I’m very hungry. Reckon they would microwave ok but have tried.

Lucienandjean · 12/02/2024 10:43

I'm happy with a 2lb loss this week, after several weeks / months of stagnation. I'm trying to mix up what I eat a bit. I'd got into a rut and was getting bored of the same food every week.

Over the weekend I went to a friend's house for a meal. Fortunately it was a hot buffet style meal so I could pick and choose what I ate. I had chicken wrapped in bacon with a creamy sauce and some green salad. I avoided the pasta bake and the cottage pie! Skipped dessert, and because it was a buffet, no one noticed or tried to get me to eat it.

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/02/2024 11:43

Ta-da!!!! Can't wait to try it, @Thesoundofmusic23 I really like the sound of your dip with this

Oooh yum - yes that looks fab to go with dip, please report back 😋

venusandmars · 12/02/2024 11:52

Tiny loss this week, just koko...

@BIWI the spreadsheet has done something strange with your numbers...

Lunch today will be a salad with a heap of whipped feta
D - no idea...

FinallyHere · 12/02/2024 12:28

Thank you @Glorianna and @venusandmars for spotting that I needed to get the WD40 spray and the oily cloth to the spreadsheet

I'm afraid it isn't sophisticated enough (yet) to cope gracefully when some key fields are MT, typically further back eg 'original weight lbs' in column C or the new weight entry for last week.

Easiest way for me to fix these currently is just to repeat what entry we do have, ie add the weight entered for 'week 1' as the 'original weight' or repeat as last weeks weight the weight entered for the week before.

At the back of my mind, the wheels are turning and some day I'll have a better solution. Or more likely, someone somewhere will tell me what they did to fix this for their own application.

QforCucumber · 12/02/2024 13:28

Popped home today for an on track lunch of a big bowl of tuna, mayo, red pepper, olives, red Leicester, cucumber and black pepper - delicious, now to keep up the water intake!

Late lunch today is Covent Garden butternut squash soup which is surprisingly low carb at 2.9g per 100g (I looked at them all obvs!) with some bits of brie dipped in. Am quite enjoying it
