Ooh love the blue cheese/mayo idea @venusandmars I'm definitely stealing that one!

LadyBird1973 · 05/10/2023 16:31

Very hungry today - had low carb toast with marmite and peanut butter this morning, a keto bar for lunch and just made a bacon sandwich (low carb bread again, so not as bad as it could be but not ideal) to keep me out of dd's leftover chocolate cake!

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 05/10/2023 16:33

Which keto bar do you enjoy @LadyBird1973 ? (Is it bootcamp friendly?)
I've occasionally thought one would be useful but haven't seen one with good ingredients.

LadyBird1973 · 05/10/2023 16:47

@LiesDoNotBecomeUs it's made by pulsin and it's choc fudge and peanut.

I've just fished the wrapper out of the bin to show you the ingredients.

It's in Morrisons for £2 per bar - word of warning, don't buy the mint flavour its absolutely rank!
This one is like a less sweet snickers

Thanks for checking @LadyBird1973
It looks better than a Snickers - but still a bit carby for me.

I am probably looking for a unicorn bar - as I suspect that even sweeteners act like sugars for me and bring back my pre-bootcamp hunger.

venusandmars · 05/10/2023 22:46

There was a great post on the previous week by @ilovecherries I hope they will repost it here.

RooRooCooChoo · 06/10/2023 07:21

Morning BC-ers. Recommendations for surviving norovirus please. Food is the last thing on my mind but at some point I will have to eat. I would usually go for crackers or bananas so am at a bit of a loss. The thought of a nice bowl of FFGY or a babybel makes we want to 🤢

LadyBird1973 · 06/10/2023 09:11

I'd go for seed crackers from Waitrose (Olinas) or low carb toast. I think dry things are the way to go when you are a bit nauseous

BIWI · 06/10/2023 10:28

Oh no @RooRooCooChoo! Sorry to hear you’re suffering. I’d go for some dry whole meal toast if I were you - when you’re feeling a bit better you could try having a boiled egg with it? Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Oh no @RooRooCooChoo remember to keep well hydrated - something like dioralyte that replaces salts too.

venusandmars · 06/10/2023 10:42

Different post so that roo doesn't have to read abut food.

I've got chicken thighs marinating ready to make a delicious butter chicken tonight. Served with spiced roast cauliflower, garlic green beans and a keto naan (mozerella, egg, ground almonds).

Hope you feel better soon! The flax seed bread posted on one of the earlier threads was lovely and easy to make (wish I'd sliced & frozen it as it went mouldy much quicker than I expected)

Keto naan sounds amazing - any chance you could share the recipe at some stage please?

venusandmars · 06/10/2023 15:45

Mine look a bit more 'rustic'. Taste good but will benefit from a bit of seasoning, plus the garlic and herbs butter...

venusandmars · 06/10/2023 15:45

Hmm, picture didn't add....

bluesupermoon · 06/10/2023 16:30

Thank you, they look great. Can't wait to try this!

venusandmars · 06/10/2023 20:20

I only made about half the quantity. Of the 3 naans, one is in the freezer, dh ate one, and I ate a half. I've got a tub of butter chicken, roasted spiced cauliflower, green beans and a half keto naan for my lunch on Sunday (at a training event and would otherwise be trying to do my best with sandwiches and cake!)

BIWI · 06/10/2023 22:43

PSA

Sorry - forgot to let you know I’m away. My very lovely SIL’s birthday. Will be back late on Sunday, so posting will be sporadic.

Thank you everyone for your wishes, and @venusandmars for your consideration 😀.

Yesterday was miserable but I think I’m over the worst. Not a good day in terms of type of food: bit of dry toast and then plain pasta for dinner. At least the portions were small!

Going to try and get back to BC today, albeit with caution. Nothing in my normal repertoire appeals.

nappiesandcontracts · 07/10/2023 09:13

Can't remember who recommended them but I had celeriac chips last night (cooked in the air fryer) and they were delicious dipped into mayo with a yummy steak - a real treat! So thank you that person!

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 07/10/2023 09:20

Ooh forgot about celeriac chips and I have a celeriac in.

B: leftover mackerel pate, smoked salmon, eggs with a touch of butter.
D: my partner cooked a fish curry so had that with konjac rice, homemade raita and some lime pickle and a low carb wrap. Shouldn't be eating low carb wraps this early but it was better than proper rice and naan! Carbs were probably a bit higher but didn't have time for lunch which hopefully offset it. Also had some red wine due to a stressful day. Not allowed I know but back on strictness today.

Frumpyunicorn · 07/10/2023 10:02

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted much this week it has been hectic. @venusandmars That sounds amazing, do you have a recipe for the butter chicken too?

In theory I have done well this week but a couple of days I have snacked a lot, all boot camp friendly but I know I've eaten too much. My problem is fatigue, a couple of days I have been exhausted right from waking up and always struggle on those days. Does anyone have any tips? It is not diet related as I have always struggled. I have started b vitamins and also a magnesium and vit d combo to try and help.

venusandmars · 07/10/2023 10:28

@Frumpyunicorn I use this recipe butter chicken

I'm meeting a friend for dinner tonight in a French restaurant - the menu changes frequently but it always has lots of good options avoid the crepes suzette

Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani)

A super easy, full flavoured Butter Chicken recipe that rivals any restaurant. Aromatic golden chicken pieces in an incredible curry sauce.

@Frumpyunicorn have you had your iron levels checked?
