Morning all!

Foggy here, which was a surprise

Here is a link to the spreadsheet. I’m away staying with friends, so no time to say much more, but will check in later.

@venusandmars I made the butter chicken and it was amazing. I didn't have the naan ingredients so I stir fried some cabbage in butter with cumin and mustard seeds, a shallot and some chilli flakes to go alongside it

@LadyBird1973 my iron reading comes back as 'normal' but is right on the cusp at 27.5 so I might try some supplements and see if that helps.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I’m in Ireland for the weekend and thought I’d definitely fall off the wagon, but I’ve done pretty well. Stopped at Tesco on the way from the airport and stocked up on stuff to make LC meals, and although there was a LOT of drinking last night I stuck to vodka, lime and soda (turns out my hangovers on that aren’t so brutal from that either so double yay). Only slight slip up I’ve made is when the pub I was in brought round bowls of snacks last night and I ate a few chips and onion rings, because I was hammered by that point.

But overall better than I expected, not expecting a loss this week as I’ve hardly exercised at all, and there have been a couple of minor slip ups and probably too much dark chocolate, but I’ve done better than I expected for a weekend away.

Had a lovely roast beef this evening. I had celeriac gratin, cauliflower cheese and creamed spinach so didn’t miss the Yorkshires, roasties, potato gratin, croquettes and stuffing the others had.
Did fall off the strict bootcamp wagon with a glass of red wine though.

Am back to normal now after a bad 48 hours. I broke all the rules I’m afraid, and am now quite worried for weigh in. I was doing so well until the lurgey struck me down, but it turns out there’s nothing like bread when you’re feeling sorry for yourself.

My main concern is getting back to BC. As I mentioned previously, I’m quite all-or-nothing so regaining my discipline will be key. I had so far avoided little nibbles here and there. Let’s hope I can refind my mojo.

venusandmars · 08/10/2023 18:36

@RooRooCooChoo 1) don't worry about tomorrow's weigh in - you wil NOT have undone all the good of the last 4/5 weeks, you will NOT have regained nearly 10lbs of fat. You might have refilled your glycogen stores and be holding onto some water associated with that.
2) I doubt that following a bout of noro you will have been stuffing your face with pizza, donuts and syrupy cocktails! You probably haven't broken all the rules. I think you said you couldn't face fatty foods - ime it's the combination of large quantitites of fat and carbs together that does the damage.
3) At all times, you have to do what is best for your body. You needed some essentials salts, you needed some small amounts of solid nutrition. You needed to stabalise things. You did that. That's the base from which to get back on it.
4) You have learned a lot over the last few week. You know what you have to do, you know this way of eating works for you, you've maybe enjoyed the freedom of eating delicious meals and feeling satisfied and also losing weight.
5) Plan, plan, plan. What ARE you going to eat tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday? Do you have the ingredients / know where and when you will buy them? Is there anything in the freezer that is bc compliant and easy as you complete your recovery? Is there anything you need to remove from your cupboards or fridge - freeze the remainder of the bread or use it in sandwiches for someone else's lunch/tea; banish the biscuits to another place.
You can do this.

Wow @venusandmars, what a barnstormer! Thank you lovely for such trenchant support. You've stiffened my resolve wonderfully. This is such a fab group. Here's to weigh-in day! 🤩

<<bows and graciously accepts the applause>>

My dear, dear, dh who doesn't normally cook surprised me this evening when I returned from running a 2 day training course. He said: "I know you don't eat pasta, rice, potatoes, so I made you this: River Cottage sweet potato with guacamole topping."

Sweet potato, more sugar than a regular potato the clue is in the name But what a wonderfully kind and thoughtful thing he did. I pleaded a big breakfast and lunch (true) and ate a smaller portion. It was delicious. He did well. apart from the obvious

Hello lovely people, <loud klaxon> alphabetiser run

The weigh in sheet of the Spreadsheet of Fabulousnesss all neatly sorted alphabetically again. If your named row isn't where you left it, it may be further up (amongst its buddies :-) )

As for me, I'm home again after my adventures, minus my phone which died half way up a volcano, possibly the highest climb I've ever attempted. Just the one video stored, sigh. I've really missed you and being able to post, Ive been using an ancient handset which could read but not post. Hope to be fully with you again shortly.

Oh dear Venusandmars, so unfortunate when a kind hearted gesture goes wrong. I had similar last weekend when my Mum had been away and bought me Yorkshire curd tarts from Betty's (which are probably my favorite treat but rarely eaten as not local). I felt really bad declining them as she was so excited to get them for me - fortunately she understands about weight struggles and loves them too so was happy to re-home.

I made cauliflower crust pizza for the first time today and I enjoyed it. However, DD told me that it was revolting.

fruitstick · 08/10/2023 21:26

I've been super strict all week.

We were away with friends this weekend.

I turned down the cake and the chips (just had steak and salad). But still more carbs than I would like and hope I haven't done too much damage.

On the upside, I have acquired an air fryer.

Feel free to give me your best air fryer advice.

RooRooCooChoo · 09/10/2023 06:04

Sorry for posting on the wrong thread, but have a super busy day and don't want to forget later. Clocking in this week with a 1.9 loss, which is amazing given how bloated I still feel. Maybe norovirus is good for something 😂.

Good luck to all those weighing this week! And KOKO!

venusandmars · 09/10/2023 19:06

Just posting the link to the WEEK 5 thread, incase anyone has got left behind.
