As ever, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We're now in the last three weeks. It might not seem that there's much time left, but there's still a chance to lose as much as half a stone if you're really disciplined!

Hopefully you've all settled into low carbing by now. People have been posting some really great recipes, which should not only be appetising, but also persuading us all that low carbing is a joyful and satisfying way of eating for all the family.

One of the things that always thrills me - genuinely - is how many other benefits (beyond weight loss) there are from low carbing. For me, it was the sudden absence of my IBS. What about you? How have you found that low carbing is helping your general health?

Next week's challenge is a bit of throwing down the gauntlet - all those of you who are lurking! Post something about how you're feeling about low carbing/Bootcamp. Anything! Smile

I hope you all have a good week Flowers

Morning. Lots of great losses. A definite shift in the tape measure this week. I can even see the semblance of a waist beginning to reappear.
I have two lunches out this week, neither at locations renowned for LC friendly food but will do my best.

Venussndmars my DH falls into the category of males that you describe. I just cannot convince him of this WOE.

RagzRebooted · 21/02/2022 11:28

Posting from work so quick update to say 1lb gain for me, but we've had no power since Friday and food has been very limited so carbs happened and not a lot of water as it was all a bit chaotic. Didn't even have mobile signal for half the weekend! Will catch up with threads later.

Newlease · 21/02/2022 12:05

Hello people, love reading through all posts, well done all losers and STS, KOKO. Lovely read @Wilkolampshade, I have so much of my childhood eating habits need a re-visit. Figuring out LC for the first time was a shock to me. I really thought I am going to die of heart attack, but also wanted to reduce weight and get in shape, lol.
I would say my NSV in general is related to my love of sweets. I could eat one whole bar of chocolate in one go and I used to get big 2kg pack of M&Ms just for my self. Now I can't actually eat anything that sweet at all, I never thought it is possible for me to stop my sugar addiction.
Weight is not going down smoothly, but it is still going down. Just posting this for anyone STS and struggling, in KG, 7th Feb : 65.1, 14th Feb: 66.1, 21st Feb : 64.8. I have started on 69.x, so def lost around 5 kg since starting BC. But I have no idea why I get spikes like this, Only thing I did not do properly was water that week. Hoping to loose some more before the end of BC.

I do have my son's birthday over the weekend and families staying over night on Sat (will be cooking lots of carby food during Fri and Sat) so may not be able to stick 100% to this. I will try my best as I have a target to reach by Easter Holidays.

ChiefDogsbody · 21/02/2022 12:55

I've had a whoosh this week it was a plop and lost 3lbs. Like @unexpectediteminshaggingarea my digestion is a tempermental thing at the best of times and went on strike at the change of regime. It's taken a while to encourage bully it into doing what it should. A pp said they eat either cabbage, celeriac or kale daily and that seems to be what has done the trick! So shoogled cabbage every day for breakfast, marvellous!

NSVs are my belt needs a new hole making in it and my bra is on the tightest fitting, I will have to take myself off to buy new undies!

One benefit from this WOE is the variety of vegetables we eat now, whereas before we were very stuck in a rut and just eating the same few things. DH has discovered shoogled anything is delicious and is now eating vegetables he would previously have turned his nose up at. As do the teenagers, which is frankly a miracle.

Hello, I've been a big old lurking lurker this bootcamp. My daughter has been having some issues so we have been dealing with that. We are on a better path now, I am totally committed and we have found a good balance for our family meals.

I am very pleased with my progress, I am eating less, no IBS, more energy and generally enjoying food without being fixated on it. Sunday is batch cook day where we make crustless quiches, egg muffins, prep salad boxes and make a couple of evening meals we can just bung in the microwave. So much easier! Out of interest I put what I was eating into MFP (more to check my macros) and it looks like on an average day I'm only having about 1400 cals, but I am so comfortably full and satisfied it feels like so much more. But I no longer need the big portions, I fill a side plate and am stuffed.

As always thanks for organising BIWI. I'll try to keep up with and on the thread better.

Fleecy · 21/02/2022 13:31

I'm another one who hasn't been very active on the threads but I'm still going with the WOE.

Like @RagzRebooted, we lost power for a couple of days over the weekend, so 1lb on for me this week, but I'm feeling like I'm in the swing of things now, so not too worried. It'll come off again soon enough!

NigellaAwesome · 21/02/2022 14:09

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone has had a great week. I'm back from skiing, and delighted that not only did I not gain weight, I am actually down a pound. I am very very surprised, as it was hard enough to stay on bootcamp in Italy. I suspect lots of activity helped, and I didn't really have lunch most days. I am still off alcohol, and I am keen to keep it that way for as long as I can.

Anyhoo, I'm back to strict bootcamp and I'm looking forward to staying on track by reading how everyone else has got on.

foxlover47 · 21/02/2022 14:10

Hello all, have both lurked and commented so far ,
Been a up and down week emotionally but generally find my ibs is easier and I'm sleeping better.
The best thing though is not feeling constantly hungry
Well done to all of us for KOKO and thanks always to @BIWI and@StuntNun

StuntNun · 21/02/2022 14:45

Apparently dairy is an absolute no-no on my camping trip as someone is very allergic and has to carry an epipen. @venusandmars I'm the only low carber so I'm unlikely to get anything too low carb past the team so I'm more looking for low carb "adjacent" foods where I could eat it and skip the carby element. It's only two days so if the worst comes to the worst I'll eat what I'm given so long as there isn't loads of wheat that would upset my stomach. Thanks @prettybird it's up to us to provide the cooking equipment so I'll have to have a look through the Scout stores and see what I will be able to borrow.

FinallyHere · 21/02/2022 16:17

While I would love to help you @StuntNun I'm afraid my days of outdoor cooking are very far behind me.

My strongest recollection is of the most popular food round campfire [please look away now anyone who doesn't want to see mention of no LCBC compliant food.

Marshmallows to be fixed to the end of a stick and toasted near the fire then eaten in the spot or spread on a digestive biscuits.

Looking back I suspect that the purpose was to give the cooks some time by sending everyone to find themselves a stick.

Alternative half healthy version was an apple stuck on the end of the stick, held close to the flames and then left in situ when the skin was blackened and eaten in bites around the stick

Indeed, yes, many, many of my happy childhood memories centre around the consumption of sugar.

Great ideas in @prettybird's link. For the hoards, I'd go for baked potatoes in foil cooked in the fire, beans, grated cheese and good, low carb sausages. SLC roll for you with the sausages.

Hope it goes well,

CrystalTits · 21/02/2022 17:17

@StuntNun how about a slow beef stew without tomato for the hot main course, accompanied by baked potatoes as pp suggested? You could use cheap cuts, and celeriac or swede chunks instead of potato in the stew itself. Something like this?

Then baked bananas with golden syrup and/or marshmallows for the hot dessert; you could bake a couple of apples for low-ish carb option and serve with some coconut cream?

StuntNun · 21/02/2022 17:20

Great suggestions thanks @CrystalTits

StuntNun · 21/02/2022 17:35

The beef stew suggestion has gone down well with the rest of the team. To be accompanied by bread cooked on sticks?!

Baystard · 21/02/2022 18:27

Hello everyone, and thanks for the new thread @BIWI

I'm a bit behind, we have covid in the household and everyone a bit bleugh so still catching up on the old thread.

Looking gorgeous @prettybird!

You have a very talented daughter @SummerSazz that steak looks lovely!

Congrats on the NSVs from last week's thread @SpottyBumPony and @newlease

The mousakka sounds lovely, will give it a try. I also fancy trying nigella lawsons lasagne recipe, but with baked cheese sheets instead of pasta, and BC cheese sauce recipe.

CrystalTits · 21/02/2022 18:39

Ah yes, the campfire classic 'bread sticks' - I remember them so well from my Brownies days, just a flour and water dough wound around a gnarly old stick then 'enjoyed' with butter and jam! My mum only confessed when I was in my thirties that when I made them for her at home on bonfire night she used to slyly lob them into the hedge when I wasn't looking... Grin
ThatsAllFolks · 21/02/2022 19:47

Tesco Greek yogurt is mankyjanky, as my teen would say, all thin. Have treated self to Rodda's clotted cream and Fage Greek yogurt, will be having that 50 50 for breakfast tomorrow, cannot wait to spoon it into my gob. DH is annoyed I'm losing weight so he has started a diet. A shit diet consisting of petrol station reduced sandwiches. He is gonna hate me spooning in all that cream and losing weight lol

SpottyBumPony · 21/02/2022 20:26

Tesco finest Greek Yoghurt is lovely

BestIsWest · 21/02/2022 21:00

Tesco’s finest Greek yog is lovely, not at all thin. Just had a bowl with some flax seeds and a bit of whipped cream. Very indulgent.

ThatsAllFolks · 21/02/2022 21:07

Have u tried Fage tho? It's much better. To the pp who said her skin was dry and grey I would say water water water but also hyaluronic acid after splashing the face. I get it from boots. I look ten years younger than my sibling and he is one year younger than me

prettybird · 21/02/2022 21:18

The Lidl Greek yoghurt ( not their "Greek style" stuff) is lush - and has a higher fat content than the Fage! ShockSmile

ThatsAllFolks · 21/02/2022 21:19

I'll probably not post again. Good luck with your journeys

prettybird · 21/02/2022 21:24

I love hyaluronic acid too. What Boots stuff do you get?

APerfectlyGoodName · 21/02/2022 22:19

Away this week, but ... I'll be back!

Anyway, I'll enjoy my week, but try not to gain, and be back in action next week!
